24.01.2022 As Hydrographic Surveyors, we are lucky to travel to some beautiful and remote areas. This recent lake survey was no exception. #HCSurvey #regionalaustralia #survey #bathymetry #hydrographicsurveying

20.01.2022 Today is UN World Hydrography Day and the theme is "Hydrographic information driving marine knowledge". What does this mean to you? At HCSurvey, we use the science of hydrography to help others make environmental decisions on every scale and in many locations. During Feb 19 we surveyed three lakes in regional NSW for water catchment evaluations. In addition to the digital data, we also represented them for the client in A3 size, 3D print for use in meetings and their education centre. #WorldHydrographyDay #WHD #CertifiedHydrographicSurveyors #marine #education #science #environmental #water

19.01.2022 Nearly ready to survey out in #regionalaustralia as soon as the pole is vertical Making survey time shorter and cost effective for our client is one of our objectives. Our smaller vessel is set up with a pole mounted Single Beam Echo Sounder and Side Scan Sonar for this activity which enables simultaneous data acquisition. Make your next survey the most efficient it can be and contact HCSurvey. #hydrographicsurvey #surveyor #HCSurvey #efficient

19.01.2022 Here, Richard Cullen; our Level 1 Hydrographic Surveyor, is doing some final checks on the Single Beam Echo Sounder and Side Scan Sonar before heading out to survey a river in regional Australia. This project required identification of hazardous features on the riverbed in order to allow our client to better advise their local community on safe water practices. #hydrographicsurvey #surveyor #HCSurvey #safewater #featuredetection #jetskisafety

19.01.2022 Have you been following the HIPP? Well, the new Director National Hydrography Program under whom the HIPP functions, has been selected. We're all eager to hear who will fill the demanding position which requires a high level of hydrographic survey industry engagement, knowledge in practice and process or as AGO describes the position: An extensive professional background in all aspects of hydrographic surveying ranging from survey planning to quality control and management of survey data, including field experience. Experience in setting clear business goals and delivering technical projects and programs within time and budget as essential, as is the ability to ensure internal and external stakeholder relationships are developed and maintained to achieve business outcomes. #hydrography

16.01.2022 Our trainee Hydrographic Surveyor, Marcus, sets up the Kongsberg GeoSwath interferometric echo sounder ready to conduct shallow water river surveys. All surveys are overseen and signed off by our AHSCP Level 1 Hydrographic Surveyor to ensure processes and quality checks are conducted to best practice. Marcus is currently undertaking his Cert III in surveying at TAFE. HCSurvey offered Marcus an opportunity to broaden his career potential by conducting on the job training in the science of hydrography and the practice of hydrographic surveying. #hydrographicsurvey #surveyor #HCSurvey #trainee #hydrographicsurveyor #training

16.01.2022 It's arrived. Our latest edition for mobile and static laser scanning. Teledyne Optech Polaris is in country and the team is about to begin training. #hcsurvey #OPTECH

14.01.2022 Surveying the Murrumbidgee River, in fairly common river conditions. Single beam echo sounder and CORS RTK was used for this survey to conduct 100m profiling for environmental flood modelling. #HCSurvey #river #singlebeam #swell

13.01.2022 Certified hydrographic surveyors use all land surveying techniques and then have extended knowledge and practice for operating on the complex environment of water. Here, our team member is conducting a tailings dam perimeter observation to combine with single beam echo sounder data and subsequently provide a volume analysis. Water from these dams is re-used for dust suppression and washing coal. The volume analysis allows for the environmental management of the water supply and the rate of change in tailing settlement allows an estimation of when the dam is expected to meet tailings capacity. The dam is then remediated through an environmental process in accordance with strict Government conditions. #coalmine #surveying #hydrographicsurvey #HCSurvey #volumecapacity @mine

13.01.2022 Back on the Irrawaddy River, Myanmar for another 700+ km of bathymetric survey. No, it's not all done by sounding pole, only the grounding avoidance is. Old methods are sometimes the best.

12.01.2022 At HCSurvey we take COVID-19 seriously. At our second meeting of the month, Lino our latest staff member returns from Myanmar on the first day of compulsory isolation. There he is attending via Skype. And for the rest of our staff, lucky to have measuring tapes to make sure our social distancing is exactly 1.5m!

11.01.2022 Certified Hydrographic Surveyor (Level 1), Richard Cullen, providing precision guidance for divers to allow recovery of targets in Sydney Harbour which were identified using HCSurvey’s side scan sonar. The dive team were very impressed that they could be guided onto targets so precisely and stated that they would normally spend hours in the water conducting searches by search line. A very productive and economic saving for the client by reducing time on task of the dive team and reducing the risk of shark interaction. By implementing good initial infrastructure, even if the initial cost is slightly higher, savings greater than the initial cost can be realised. Think survey needs first, not last. #HCSurvey #diver #surveyor #precision #recon #sydney #infrastructure

10.01.2022 Here, Richard is observing water line measurements around the perimeter of a quarry to provide a datum line. These observations were combined with single beam sounding data and using aerial imagery, the entire quarry’s fill volume was calculated in preparation of reclamation. HCSurvey proudly provides fit for purpose data based on necessary consultation with our clients. If you think your project needs Hydrographic Surveying, contact HCSurvey today. #hydrographicsurvey #surveyor #HCSurvey

08.01.2022 Surveying the Eurobodalla River utilising a Remote Survey Vessel (RSV) in order to obtain maximum profiling capability in shallow water. #hydrographicsurvey #surveyor #HCSurvey

07.01.2022 HCSurvey has launched its new website! Check out the teams page (https://hcsurvey.com.au/team/) to see who you could be working with on your future projects. #HCSurvey #Certification #AHSCP

05.01.2022 HCSurvey's Director, Richard Cullen, received his Master of Maritime Policy on 14 Aug. Professor Stuart Kaye of the University of Wollongong's ANCORS, takes time out from recording online course content to congratulate Richard's achievement. Thank you to all ANCORS staff for continuing to diversify study processes and maintaining the growth of knowledge.

02.01.2022 It's time to find another hydrographic surveyor for the team, are you the one?
