25.01.2022 Natural Transition: As a probiotic nerd, I want to share this product. Qiara, is a probiotic supplement containing a strain Lactobacillus Fermentum CECT5716 wh...ich is isolated from breast milk. They have clinical trials supporting its use for mastitis for mums, and gastrointestinal and respiratory infections for bubs. It's my best pick of probiotic for late pregnancy and breastfeeding mamas, babies and toddlers.

25.01.2022 SUPPORTING mothers to breastfeed is one of our core duties as a midwife - and we know how challenging it can be at times. Midwives should feel confident and com...petent, have enough time and be sensitive, compassionate and respectful. These graphics can help us to help women - thank you Debbie Allen Tribe Midwifery for sharing! #Repost Debbie Allen Tribe Midwifery This is GREAT graphic showing the importance of a deep latch. Notice how the nipple is at the back of the palate. Often damaged nipples when breastfeeding are associated with a shallow latch and the baby compressing the nipple instead of the areola. Proper latch helps babies pull milk from the breast more effectively. Our bodies are so amazing. #tribemidwifery #fulltermblackbabies #blackmidwife

18.01.2022 Newborns to 3 months wake frequently not only to feed but to be comforted, they could also be uncomfortable or are feeling insecure.... after all they have just... spent 9months being constantly with you. Babies at this age often only sleep in 20-40mins cycles on average. Babies are not born with circadian rhythms, they develop over time usually emerging from 8weeks of age but are not well established until 4 months. The development of circadian rhythms is biological and can’t be rushed. A baby’s circadian rhythms will mature when the neurological process in the baby’s brain is complete, so there is little you can do but to wait. What may be helpful: #Breastmilk contains melatonin (sleepy hormone) that formula doesn’t. #Safe co-sleeping (Safe 7 Steps) will assist you to get some further sleep with baby being close by. #Seek support for household duties. #Adjust your lifestyle to better cope for this period of time in your newborn’s life. #Remember this is just a moment in time, it will pass. #MotherhoodCoachingServices can offer supportive education in understanding your baby

11.01.2022 Truly special. Love the pure emotion captured with this birth x

09.01.2022 Always was, always will be aboriginal land. Let's keep the discussions going for those who want to birth close to home. Birthing on country is about culturally ...appropriate care, in a birth place of choice. 'Closing the Gap' is a LONG way from any side of government being able to boast has been remotely achieved. In the NT, we've heard of aboriginal women tricked to getting on a plane at their 36 week check up, flown out of their community with nothing more than the clothes on their back. If fathers aren't present at birth, well baby simply is given the mothers surname, regardless of the family wishes. This isn't culturally appropriate care. This is happening now. In 2019. We must do better. Edit to add credit (there was no image credit on the Instagram post): Bobbi Lockyer Aboriginal Artist).

02.01.2022 Accidental Date Night Birth This is the face of a mama who rushed back from date night, pulled down her maternity pants, and eased her baby out whilst her hu...sband walked down the hallway asking Babe? Do you hear a baby crying? Let me introduce you to Rockstar Mama Cheyene Ortega and her amazing boy Bear Immanuel, born unassisted in her bathroom twenty minutes before the midwife arrived and to the utter surprise of her husband. - First consistent contraction at 4:30pm - Posted in Facebook birthing group at 5pm for advice re prodromal vs real labor - Left for her 8th Wedding Anniversary date night dinner at 7:30pm - Home by 8:30pm - Catching baby and trying to get maternity skinny jeans off by herself at 9pm In Cheyene’s own words: Mamas, our bodies are amazing. My first home waterbirth was amazing - but this takes the cake, surprise and all. No meds, brief perineal support, and one microscopic tear. I feel AMAZING - but afterpains are such a b*tch (After Ease is my boo). If you’re questioning whether you can do a natural or med free or home birth...YOU CAN.
