Ice baths refers to a method of contrast water therapy that required the participant to swap between a bath filled with water and ice and a warm shower. A 2007 study from the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research looked at the effect of ice baths on DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) after intense leg press exercise. ... The study shows a better recovery of strength and power in athletes using ice baths than those using traditional recovery methods. But remember, using multiple methods of recovery will work best: Nutrition, active recovery and self myofascial release all work!
