25.01.2022 While everyone else is talking about "mobile-first", we believe that all devices are equally important to the active user which is why we test websites in parallel for consistency across all devices. One of the beautiful features of our new platform is the ability to inspect how our websites work on desktop, tablet and mobile (iOS or Android) simultaneously and in real-time! This is great not only for testing but to ensure a consistent user experience across all devices.

25.01.2022 Wordpress Security Update: There has been a recent spike in malicious activity targeting older versions of Wordpress and plug-ins. Clients that have subscribed to icu2's Security Maintenance Plan need not be concerned as their sites will be updated as per their security maintenance program. Those that haven't, we will contact to recommend updating Wordpress, plug-ins and to deploy a WAF (Web Application Firewall). Here is a great little video on what a WAF is and how it works. 24.01.2022 It's always interesting to go back through old logo concepts. This was one of the first concepts of the icu2 logo 12 years ago, which referenced Tetris pieces coming together. While the logo has gone through a few iterations since then, you can still see the influence in today's logo.

18.01.2022 Sneaky scammers. I imagine like me you get emails like this all the time. This is one of the sneakier ones to come through, as it appears to be a message from cPanel advising of someone trying to gain unauthorised access to your cPanel. Upon checking the link, you will find what appears to be a cPanel login, a very convincing one at that! It is not and is a pure phishing scam, designed to get access to your most sensitive information. I always check if the email address is spoofed or if it is a legitimate email address that is in some way connected to my business (eg an actual address from my hosting provider). Next is to check the address of the link (do not enter any details). If unsure, best to contact your system administrator or hosting provider to confirm the validity of the email.

08.01.2022 A New Paradigm for Australian Business in a Covid-19 World 12 years ago (when i first started icu2) I met with the Australian Retailers Association and warned them that if they did not gear up their members to operate in an online economy, they would eventually be left with no members. Little did i know back then that it would be a pandemic that brought the entire sector to it's knees overnight. Inevitably, if it wasn't Covid-19 it would have been something else. Thankfully, ...those businesses that did establish a strong online strategy can continue to function, as we have seen with our own clients who have invested in their online branding, marketing and technologies. It has meant they have been able to respond very quickly to regulatory changes; to pivot their business model to new ways of working and procuring; while developing new innovative solutions to solve market problems that didn't exist even 2 weeks ago. In short, businesses that can redefine their narrative quickly are the ones who will survive. It requires we reassess everything we have held true for a long time; assess our own capabilities and resources to solve new problems; use an evidence-based approach to identify opportunities; and have the ability to execute these strategies in an efficient manner. Does this mean that it is too little too late, or is there still time to change? The worst thing we could possibly do now, is to be paralysed by fear and uncertainty and do nothing. The time to change is now. In short, many businesses will need to unlearn what they have held true, in some cases even go against their old value-proposition. Business that can do this will thrive in this environment. Let's have a conversation about your digital strategy. 04.01.2022 Hi all. I hope you are all well and taking good care of yourselves and your loved ones. It's 1am and i am working back to prepare collateral for one of my retail clients who we're helping transition to a new way of working in the Covid-19 era. I am certain that I am not alone.... While there will no doubt be massive challenges, I would like to suggest that this doesn't have to spell the end. This is an opportunity to redefine who we are, what we do and how we work. There are many things that can be done now to keep the wheels turning; however, this is not about doing more of what we have done until now, this is about massive transformation. It's an opportunity for us to embrace change, even if we didn't choose it. While we may not be able to control this situation, how we respond is completely up to us. We can choose to live in fear, or use this time to learn and grow. There is a light at the end of this tunnel. Believe me it is there. Call me an optimist if you will, but i believe that challenging times bring out the best in people. Getting past these challenges will prepare us for any challenge. At very least, we may come out of this with a new appreciation for the simple things that we take for granted every day. People. 02.01.2022 It is great to see my old high-school Copperfield College still nurturing grass-roots Visual Communications and Design. In this gallery, Mr Mifsuds year 9 students produced 2 point perspective illustrations. I am still amazed how often the foundational skills we learnt back then come in handy today. Even with all the technology we have at our fingertips, I can't tell you the number of times I have ruled out lines (just like in this illustration) to check the perspective and vanishing points in an image. Keep up the great work guys!
