25.01.2022 Dental restrictions have now been eased to level 1 - this means we can now complete regular dental treatments. Identity Dentistry continues to be taking a number of additional precautions to protect our patients and staff, as well as continuing to employ best practice infection control and sterilisation protocols. For more information, please review our website - www.identitydentistry.com.au/covid-19-response/ In accordance with level 1 restrictions, the practice will continue to screen patients as treatment cannot be provided to those diagnosed with or suspected of having COVID-19.
24.01.2022 Many schools ask that children bring a mouthguard for their sport/PE classes. If your child plays a sport such as hockey or basketball they will often need a mouthguard - just like this one we made! So if your child is due for a check-up and clean, book an appointment these school holidays and we’ll fit your child for a mouthguard during the same visit! Otherwise, call us to schedule a short appointment for a mouthguard impression to be made. It will then be ready to pick up within a week! To learn more about the benefits of a dentist made mouthguard, please visit our website: www.identitydentistry.com.au/mouthguards-canberra/
24.01.2022 As of Tuesday 28 April, dental operating restrictions have been lowered to Level 2. This means the practice will now open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5pm, where possible. Unlike under Level 3, some non-urgent treatment can now be provided, enabling the resumption of some routine dental procedures with the key principle being not to produce aerosols. For information on the additional precautions our practice is taking to ensure the safety of our patients and staff, please review our website: www.identitydentistry.com.au/covid-19-response/
23.01.2022 Ever wondered what dental veneers are? If you smile less than you want, perhaps shying away from the camera or stiffening your lips to hide your teeth then dental veneers are one solution for attaining a perfect smile. You may not be happy with the appearance of your teeth due to cracks, misalignment or discolouration that can't be addressed through teeth whitening alone. Veneers are carefully crafted thin shells that are bonded to the surface of your tooth in order to improve their appearance or protect them from further damage.
23.01.2022 We’ve all been doing our part to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and recognise how fortunate we are here in Canberra. As we start to return to our new normal, we think it’s time to bring back our beautiful welcome gifts. Whether you’re a new patient or perhaps missed out over the last 12 months, we know you’ll enjoy these!
22.01.2022 If there's a tooth bothering you, ignoring it won't make the pain go away. The cause of the pain may only be a minor issue or it might be something more serious. Regardless, at Identity Dentistry we know our patients do not have identical needs, so we ensure we provide the treatment that you actually need in order to ensure your teeth are in the best shape they can be. Call us on 62485692 or visit www.identitydentistry.com.au to arrange an appointment.
21.01.2022 Why would I need Root Canal Treatment? Root Canal Treatment or RCT can be a solution for an infection that antibiotics just can’t solve. Your tooth may be suffering from decay, be fractured or have been upset by an accident. This might mean the symptom you experience is a toothache or possibly an infection that is detected by a dentist through looking at your x-rays. In order to treat the infection, the bacteria needs to be eliminated. To do this, you could remove the tooth altogether or remove the bacteria from the root canal - through Root Canal Treatment. At Identity Dentistry in Canberra, our dentists have extensive experience performing this treatment and understand how important it is to guide you through the process so you understand what’s happening every step of the way.

So if you are due for a check-up and clean or need any other dental treatments to be completed, now is the time to book an appointment. 15.01.2022 Is it actually important to have regular dental check up and cleans? While it is vital you brush and floss your teeth at least twice day, there are areas of your teeth and in your mouth that are difficult to reach and so require cleaning by a dental professional in order to maintain proper dental hygiene. Dentists also check for signs of oral cancer and gum disease. Scaling and polishing will also take place. This is a preventive dental treatment that removes the hardened ...layer of plaque. It is this layer which can result in gum irritation and is often the main cause of gum disease. Removal of plaque can reduce the yellow appearance of teeth. A fluoride treatment is recommended by our dentists to prevent decay. Digital x-rays may also be taken to further check your oral health. So a dental check up and clean is very important for both your oral and overall wellbeing See more

10.01.2022 Follow these simple steps to brush your child's teeth: 1) Place a pea-sized amount of children's toothpaste (low in flouride) onto a soft children's toothbrush. 2) Sit your child in your lap so that s/he is facing away from you, or stand behind taller children. Tilt your child's head back against your body so that you are able to see all the surfaces of their teeth.... 3) Angle the bristles of the toothbrush towards the gum. Then, move the brush in gentle circles to clean the outer areas of the teeth and gums. 4) For the inside of the teeth and gums, brush in gentle circles. 5) For the chewing or top surface of the teeth, brush back and forward. 6) After all surfaces have been brushed, encourage your child to spit out the toothpaste or rinse out with water.

01.01.2022 Have you ever wondered what habits might be hurting your teeth? - Gingivitis and loss of tooth enamel can occur if you use an overly stiff brush. - Excessive caffeine consumption not only promotes the growth of bacteria in your mouth, but is also responsible for yellow discolouration of teeth. - Biting your nails can lead to the accumulation of food residue between your teeth, which can be difficult to remove during cleaning and can increase the likelihood of infection in your mouth that erodes enamel. - Drinking large amounts of alcohol also affects your teeth due to the high amounts of sugar contained in it.
