22.01.2022 OVERSEAS STUDY TOUR | CHINA DAY 4 After meeting with our partner university, we were very excited to see what activities they had in stall for day four, and wow what a whirlwind of day it was! Beginning with Tai Chi lessons to really wake us up in the morning . We then took on us biggest challenge yet: using chopsticks . Our struggles were rewarded as we learnt about proper Chinese dining etiquette and each received a pair of ornate chopsticks.... The cultural lessons dont end there as we sit down for a bit of education in tea preparation (very zen), followed by trying our hands at calligraphy . It was fascinating to learn how everything in Chinese tradition is steeped in meaning and required regal poise. Of course, a day wouldnt be complete for our crew without enjoying some food as we wrap up by learning how to make dumplings . Dont worry, they may look a bit misshapen but still tasted delicious. Keep following us on Facebook as we share more food, culture and sights from our fantastic study tour, or contact us to find out how you can be a part of IIBs next study tour in 2020!

21.01.2022 OVERSEAS STUDY TOUR | CHINA DAY 3 We begin our third day with a welcome ceremony hosted by our partner university. The promise of warm reception and friendly hospitality are much appreciated . The lively campus atmosphere was a pleasant surprise, with a few of us joining in an impromptu dancing lesson . Our crew were ready to diving straight into some learning as we take on our first Chinese culture workshop . Navigating the intricate art of Chinese paper cutting , w...e made some pretty good attempts as we learn about the symbolism in a myriad of Chinese characters . After crafting some dizzying symmetries, it was time to get down to business as we make a special presentation for our host university , displaying IIBs vision and goals with our group of diverse students and staff. On that note, we have some exciting news: our partner, Shijiazhuang University of Applied Technology has officially agreed to continue hosting our study tours for the next two years! To find out what our group get up to next, follow us on Facebook or contact us for details about IIBs next study tour so you dont miss out!

14.01.2022 OVERSEAS STUDY TOUR | CHINA DAY 2 After a peaceful night at the Jinglin Hotel (in Beijing), our well rested group travel on to our partner university, Shijiazhuang University of Applied Technology. The fun never ends with this colourful crew; even while on our private coach (dont worry, our actual driver was a lot more professional ). ... Arriving in Shijiazhuang, we were treated to some delectable local cuisine , which sure helped to settle our stomachs. To round off the day, we met up with our amazing volunteers from SUAT who doubled as our guides and translators for the duration of our stay. With plenty of conversations, photos , and laughs all round; its plain to see the adventure is just getting started . Keep an eye on this space for the next few days and follow us on Facebook to see how we party it up with the locals and learn some Chinese culture, or contact us to find out more about IIBs next study tour opportunity.

14.01.2022 OVERSEAS STUDY TOUR | CHINA DAY 6 After the frenzy of the last two days it was time to settle down a little and take a peek at the Chinese education system with our generous hosts . Our group began the day sitting in on a university workshop at SUAT. Turns out even classes can be fun when you get to handle money . It was a great opportunity to see higher education in action in China and observe some interesting differences teaching styles. ... After a scrumptious lunch, it was time to for our visit to Shijiazhuang 16th High School . Keeping up with high-schoolers was no easy task as the PE instructor immediately got us moving to work off that big lunch! As we bond over stretches, rope-skipping and even arm-wrestling , it was wonderful to see the energy from this bunch of friendly locals and the day flew by so fast. We hope youve enjoyed seeing our experiences so far and keep following us as we still have so much more to share with you from our China study tour. 13.01.2022 OVERSEAS STUDY TOUR | CHINA DAY 5 Our group awake on day 5, refreshed from the whirlwind of events the day before. Theres barely any pause as our hosts guide us straight into more cultural activities. First up, some morning exercise as we challenge our new buddies to some ping pong. Great way to really wake up and get ready for a day full of activities. ... Next, with the help of the volunteers, we navigate to Hebei Museum for a trip through time. The exhibitions showed off Chinas rich history with items older than most countries have existed and offered us much insight. After a spot of lunch (delicious as usual), we continued with our cultural workshop, this time led by the incredible professor Guang Tong Xiu. The way in which the professor combines the Chinese traditions of pottery , painting and cultivating goldfish together so seamlessly was astonishing. We were blown away by the intricacies of his pieces and even tried our hands at some pottery-making . To see clay change shape within your hands was truly magical. 11.01.2022 OVERSEAS STUDY TOUR | CHINA DAY 9 After a good night’s sleep for our weary legs to recover, it was time to see what else Beijing had to offer. Perhaps the best-known sight in all of China, our first stop for the day was the Great Wall of China. Atop the misty hills and amber autumn leaves , the scenery really takes on a poetic feel. ... We couldn’t help but take a moment to marvel at the picturesque sights all-around and appreciate the close friendships we’ve formed over the study tour. By taking full advantage of our freedom to explore Beijing at our own pace, we took a more leisurely stroll around the Olympic Park. The casual pace really helped us to unwind and see the everyday charm of Beijing. We’ve had so much fun on our study tour and in sharing our experiences with you, between all the eating, seeing, laughing (and ooh so much walking) we can only say how much we’d like to do it all again! Contact us for more information on how you too can join in IIB’s next study tour.

07.01.2022 OVERSEAS STUDY TOUR | CHINA DAY 8 Having arrived in Beijing it was time to explore some famous historic sites at our own pace . But that didnt mean we had time to dawdle as our itinerary was as packed as ever. First up, we headed to the Temple of Heaven in central Beijing. The plaza was enormous and the climbing the stairs of the temples were quite a workout but boy, was it worth it to marvel at some gorgeous architecture and stunning colours. Also, some excelle...nt photo opportunities! #IIBrepresent Lunch doesnt get much better than hotpot in the heart of Beijing to fight off the chilly air. Our hungry crew relished the chance to fill up on food as we had plenty more exploring left for the day. Next up, it was time for the biggest highlight of the tour so far, the world-famous Tiananmen Square and the adjacent, Forbidden City. The whole place was steeped in history and tradition all so perfectly preserved and maintained. Our group were in absolute awe, but that didnt stop us greeting some locals and enjoying the enjoy every minute of our time there. Keep following this space to see more of our exploration of Beijing, or contact us to see how IIB can get you there with our next study tour.

02.01.2022 OVERSEAS STUDY TOUR | CHINA DAY 7 All wonderful things must come to an end. So, it was with much sadness that we conclude the Shijiazhuang portion of our study tour on day 7. Our hosts at SUAT have been so amazing with their hospitality and energy, to ensure that we could get the most out of our visit. Although it was only a short time together, our crew were able to bond with the volunteers and really felt they had warmed up to us. ... A farewell ceremony was in order as we were presented certificates (and even some personal gifts ) to remember our partners at SUAT by. In exchange, we were able to present each of the volunteers with a certificate of appreciation and special thanks for how well they looked after us. After many last-minute photos , tearful goodbyes and reminiscing our adventures , it was time to move on to the next leg of tour as we board the coach to Beijing. In the down time, some even managed to lighten the mood by trying to blend in with the locals. Although our experiences in Shijiazhuang has come to a close, our study tour is still far from over. Continue to follow us on Facebook as we share our exploits in Beijing. As always, dont hesitate to contact us if you would like more info on how to get in on IIBs next study tour.

01.01.2022 OVERSEAS STUDY TOUR | CHINA CONCLUSION With the sight-seeing done and our crew very much contend and satisfied, it was time to head back home. And that concludes IIBs first ever study tour. During the 10 days, our group were able to immerse ourselves in Chinese culture and tradition as we take on workshops, savour delicious Chinese cuisine and experience a different style of education first-hand all the while guided by some friendly locals. ... The opportunity to try our hands at some fascinating activities and tour breathtaking sights has made the trip so enriching for us all. Our only regret was how fast the time flew by while we enjoyed ourselves. Although Overseas Study Tour 2019 has ended, we have some exciting announcements: IIBs next overseas study tour is scheduled for which means: fun is literally just around the corner! Expressions of interest are open now and dont hesitate to contact us to find out more info about the study tour. Still sitting on the fence?
