16.01.2022 Morning everyone. Just wanted to update you on last nights meeting of National Cabinet and what it means for our state. I know the majority of Victorians are d...oing the right thing by staying home but were still seeing groups of people meeting up and carrying on as normal. This cannot continue. So from 11.59pm tonight, Victoria will introduce Stage 3 restrictions. Under these measures, there will only be four reasons to leave your house. For food and supplies. For exercise. For medical care. And for work and education if necessary. And just so were clear: getting some exercise means going for a walk round the block or a bike ride to stretch your legs and get some fresh air. It means staying local not driving for miles or being out all day. Weve also closed skate parks, outdoor gyms and playgrounds. I know this will be tough especially on parents with little ones but we simply cant have people congregating in these areas. Under Stage 3, gatherings of more than two people will be off limits. That doesnt mean you should think "Great, I still have one mate round for beers at home and thats OK." Its really not. I know its hard not to see friends. I know its hard to be stuck at home all day. And I know this will ask a lot of Victorians. But we all need to be prepared and be patient because what we do now will literally save lives. There are thousands of Victorians on the front line of this pandemic. Doctors and nurses. Paramedics. Supermarket workers and delivery drivers. The Victorians driving our trams and trains and buses. The cleaners making sure our state is safe and hygienic. The scientists and researchers developing a vaccine. But the rest of us have an important job to do too. Its our role to help slow the spread of this virus so that fewer Victorians end up in intensive care. Its up to us to stop our health system from being overwhelmed. And the best way to do that is to stay home. I cant be much clearer than that. Ill be providing regular updates over the next couple of days, but in the meantime please remember this: Its one thing to thank our frontline workers and tell them how much they mean to us. But the real test is in our actions. If you value the hours and the effort theyre putting in to keep us all safe: Stay home. Protect our health system. Save lives.

11.01.2022 If my partner still has a job, am I eligible for Centrelink? As it currently stands, if you lose your job and your partner earns more than $1,850 a fortnight ($48,100 a year) you will not be eligible for the Jobseeker Payment. However, things are changing rapidly and there are calls for this to be increased. Please see this article for further information.
11.01.2022 No one should have to choose between paying rent and putting food on the table or have to stress about losing their home during a global pandemic. That's why ...we introduced some temporary rental reforms back in April. These included banning evictions, freezing rent increases, and making extra financial support available to tenants who'd lost income and to landlords who agreed to help out with rent reductions. Since then, more than 12,000 Victorians have received relief grants to help with the rent. More than 32,000 rent reduction agreements between tenants and landlords have also been lodged with Consumer Affairs Victoria. We've promised to support Victorians through this pandemic and that won't change. That's why we're extending these measures until 28 March 2021. We recently increased rent relief grants to a maximum of $3,000, up from $2,000 and households that've already received a grant can claim the additional amount. Now we're expanding the eligibility criteria so more tenants can access support. The savings threshold will double, from $5,000 to $10,000 ensuring families have a bit more left over to cover the essentials, and those big costs that come at the end of the year. I know this isn't easy for anyone but these reforms mean one less thing to worry about as we get back on our feet.
