12.01.2022 This one catches our eye everytime we walk past it in the art centre. Rockholes in Sandhill Country by Benisa Marks In this painting Benisa depicts the area of Kalipinpa, near Kintore on the Western Australian border. It shows one of the many rockholes nestled in the sandhills. Bensia's work often features the amazing rock formations around the Haast Bluff Ikuntji area. This piece is currently on sale, you can find this piece and many others on our website www.ikuntji.com.au or by following the link in our bio.
11.01.2022 Virgillia Multa is in the studio today working on her next artwork. . Virginia country is Kungkayunti (Browns Bore) an outstation 1.5hrs drive south/west of Hassts. She is the niece of Traditional Owner and lawman Douglas Multa and acclaimed artist Ailson Multa. Kungkayunti is the site of her grandfathers Tjukurrpa (dreaming) where the ancestral women came to rest on their journey past Kintore. . You can find Virgillia's full bio and other #ikuntjiartists on our website https...://ikuntji.com.au/artist/virgillia-multa/ See more
11.01.2022 Sonja Jugadai paints this stunning work, which is available through our website www.ikuntji.com.au and link in bio. This painting shows Karrkurrutintja (Lake Mcdonald in Pintpui), located west of Kintore alongthe Western Australia/Northern Territory border. This country is an important site of the Pilkati (snake) Tjukurrpa (Dreaming) of Kuniya Kutjarra (two carpet snakes, two brothers, two Tjangalas). Thisis the place where the snake lives and from which it travels to Haas...ts Bluff sometimes. This is the country and Tjukurrpa of the artist’s mother, Narputta Nangala Jugadai, who was born there. Narputta was passed down this story from her father, Talaku Tjampitjinpa. Sonia’s Sister, Molly Jugadai, who has now passed away, also painted this same country. Narputta was one of the founding members of Ikuntji Artists, and has been painting since the beginning of the desert painting movement in the 1970s. Kuniya Kitjarra (Two carpet snakes) as told by Narputta, Two Tjangalas were travelling, looking for meat. Their grandfather, Tiwil Tjangala, asked them for kaniya (carpet snake). They hid the snake under their feet, ‘No, We’ve got no meat.’ Tiwil turned around to make a fire and the two Tjangalas ran off with the snake. They were confronted by their father, Talaku Tjampitjinpa, and he said, ‘You boys are mad to play games with your grandfather’. The grandfather ht them both on the head with a stone axe, and killed them. They’re loying on their bellies, atKarrkurrutintj, near Lampintja, in the salt lake (the older brother in front, the younger brother behind). That’s the story I put on the canvas. The colours that I put on remind me of this story.

10.01.2022 Completely obsessed with this new artwork by Ann Lane nee Dixon tilted Pirrnpirrnga - Desert Bore What do you think of these colours? . This painting depicts the 'pin pin' desert bore outstation near Kintore. This is Ann's father's Tjukurrpa and country. Pirrnpirrnga has mountains, rocks and a big rock hole, where there is always water. In Tjukurrpa the snakes are travelling around the sand hill country, looking for water. Ann says she always remembers visiting this count...ry and hearing her aunty singing by the rock holes. . You can find this piece and others in our collection on our website www.ikuntji.com.au or follow the link in our bio. See more
10.01.2022 Eunice Napanangka Jack depicts in her work Kuruyultu. It's the country where she was born and which she left when she was about four years old. A country that is part of her Tjukurrpa (Dreaming), yet she hardly gets to go there as it's so far away from Ikuntji where she lives. This print by her is limited edition, printed on Hahnemuehle paper by @basilhalleditions You can get this or other limited edition prints by our artists via our website www.ikuntji.com.au and link in bio.

07.01.2022 Tali at Kalipinpa by Benisa Marks, just wow! The size of this alone is impressive at 2440 x 1830mm this would look at home above a bed or as a show stopper on a main wall. In this painting Benisa tells the story of the big rock hole in the sand hills of her country Kaplipinpa. Kaplipinpa is located 400km west of Alice Springs near Kintore, its here that you'll find sacred soak which is a very significant aspect of Benisa's dreaming. Bensia's work often depicts various rock fo...rmations which are an integral part of the Haast Bluff landscape. This amazing artwork is currently on sale, and you can find this and many others on our website www.ikuntji.com.au

06.01.2022 You might have seen this beautiful piece by Alison Napurrula Multa in progress in our studio pics the other day. This bright striking work is called Kungkaku Puturru - Women's Hairstring Dreaming. In the older days women used to cut their own hair and create this string by spinning the hair on their thighs. The hairstring was used for dancing, ceremony and domestic purposes Kungkaku Puturru is connected to the Tjukurrpa place Kungkayunti (Brown's Bore). Kungkayunti is the place where the ancestral women who travelled from Ntaria (Hermannsburg) which is to west of Kintore, stopped and danced. Kungkayunti means women dancing. Alison currently has two hairstring Dreaming pieces available as well as Pintirri Mungangka- Nightsky. You can find these and many more on our website by following the link in our bio.
