21.01.2022 Do you want to be seen as a #professional in your field? First impressions count and little things can make a big difference. Things as simple as your posture, and (especially) the way you hold your hands are all extremely important things that add up to either make or break your #corporate #portrait. So what do we do to make your portrait perfect? I like to discuss the session prior to taking any photos and planning the outcome. This tends to put you at ease as you now know what it is we're trying to achieve. The other thing is to try and be as relaxed as possible. That's always easy to say but people still get nervous having their photo taken. What you have to think about is that this is how your clients will see you. So try and relax, have a laugh and before you know it, you'll have a professional portrait.

18.01.2022 A few weeks ago I was photographing a Real Estate agent for his corporate headshot. Keep in mind, this is the photo that all his clients and would be clients see. He showed me the photo that he had been using that he'd taken with his smartphone. To be honest, when I saw it on the screen, my first thought was Wow, that's a pretty good image for a phone! But that's where my excitement ended. For a brief moment, I thought to myself, if this is what phones are doing now, why am I... using a pro camera? Well, the comparison below shows why. On the phones screen, the image looked amazing. But, once it went over to the computer, the image fell apart. You see, it's not about how good your camera (or phone) is. A good #corporate photo is about the lighting, the pose and more importantly how comfortable and approachable you look to potential clients. So if you think that the images that you're putting out there with your phone are good enough, think again! People have become conditioned to seeing low quality images from phones. 08.01.2022 Lets talk websites! I had a discussion yesterday with a client who has a small business. His question was "How can I make my website more personal? The photos I have on there don't look personal enough" We had a look at his website and all of the images were of his products. Some had been taken with his phone once the product was ready to deliver and I must say, they looked pretty ordinary. So the first thing I recommended was to have a #corporate #portrait of himself on eith...er the Home page or on the About Us page. His reaction was "No Way! Why would I want to do that? People don't want to see me." Wrong, they do want to see you. People like to see who they're dealing with or who they're talking to on the phone when they first make an enquiry. People connect with people, they don't connect with a #business. It's the people in the business that they want to connect with. By seeing you or, if you're part of a bigger company, the person who will take their call, they make a connection.
