22.01.2022 Sponsored by the Cancer Council Tasmania in 2017, Brigid attended our Winter Teen Retreat. She recorded this for us back in 2018 when we were raising awareness for an upcoming weekend retreat for teens and young adults aged 15 to 21. When describing mindfulness Brigid says mindfulness, to me, is being present and grounded and just aware of your current thoughts and surroundings. You’re not dwelling on the past, you’re not stressing about the future - you’re just accepting w...here you’re at. She adds that after an IME retreat she found that she was more perceptive and grateful and appreciative of the little, simple things in everyday. Thank you for lending your voice to IME Brigid! We hope that you and every other teen who attended a retreat between 2017 and 2018 felt supported, safe and that you learnt more about who you are. 20.01.2022 One year ago today, IME sadly announced a pause on our activities. After an active 3 years raising awareness of the importance of practices that support a young person’s wellbeing (friendship, connection, emotional support, authenticity and, of course, the practice of mindfulness) the organisers needed a break. A combination of burnout and lack of sustainable funding were ultimately the cause. As determined as we were to continue to have a presence online it didn’t eventuate.... Upon reflection, we think this demonstrates just how burnt out we were. This aside, we can’t help but feel that IME continues to have a place in communities now more than ever. While we’re a long way off being able to offer another teen mindfulness retreat, we’re able to use these platforms to shine a light on practices that we know support mental and emotional well-being. So, hello again, it’s nice to have reached you. We hope we can be of service in some small way hopefully we can provide you with some relevant, supportive content that helps brighten your day. Until then, look after yourself, Insight Mindfulness Education #mindfulness #meditation #wellbeing #teens

12.01.2022 One to make you smile this Sunday evening. If your head is a little cluttered make sure you find the time for some self care. Taking even a few mindful deep breaths is a great start!

12.01.2022 This is why we do what we do. A heartfelt summary from one of our retreat participants: "I went on a Winter I'ME retreat. Initial hesitance and nerves about attending were faced with incredibly supportive staff and other teens, and any doubt I had prior quickly dissolved! I don't think there is an experience quite like this one - you get to be surrounded by amazing people and learn about mindfulness, meditation, and most of all, you learn a whole lot about yourself. The experience doesn't end after the retreat's completion either, you take what you've learned, the memories, and the friendships with you for what I think will be the rest of your life." Nerves are natural! If you're on the fence about attending our Youth Summer Sit in January, get in touch and we will talk you through the program!

06.01.2022 2018 has been a wonderful year for I’ME. To all those who attended a retreat or function, allowed us to speak at your business or school, or helped spread our message and cause, a heartfelt thank you. Here’s to an even bigger and better year in 2019!

03.01.2022 We are sad to announce that IME will be taking a break for the foreseeable future. With little-to-no-money, we have been able to run four youth mindfulness retreats within the last two years. We’ve been fortunate enough to have an extraordinary group of profession volunteers to staff our retreats and an extremely skilled team of meditation teachers. We have supported 54 teenagers regarding their mental and emotional wellbeing and have received extremely positive feedback from... parents regarding the retreat and how it has supported their children and their families. We have also received letters from teenage participants outlining the life-changing experience they have had. We have been working tirelessly to secure funding, form partnerships with private enterprise and, sadly, have had unsuccessful meetings with the Minister of Health, Michael Ferguson, and the Minister of Education, Jeremy Rockliff. Both ministers have a good understanding of the outcomes of our programs and have provided positive feedback for the work we do, however, have both declined to provide any financial help to support the on-going work of our organisation. Our organisation is the only one of its kind in Australia, and operates out of Tasmania. The data that has been generated by Monash University, through a study in to the outcomes of the program on participants mental and emotional wellbeing, has exceeded expectations. It has shown that teenagers have experienced lowered levels of stress and rumination through learning mindfulness and meditation and have developed greater levels of mindfulness, self-compassion and mental wellbeing. Thank you to all who have been involved with IME’s journey up to this point. Thank you to those who have provided teens with scholarships, supplied produce and goods towards our retreats and gala, and those who have giving countless hours on retreat. Most of all, to each and every single teenager who was brave enough to step in to the IME space, thank you. Learning more about your thoughts, emotions and who you are isn’t always easy. Meditating for five hours a day isn’t easy. Living without your phone for a week isn’t easy ;) Every single one of you participated in the program with openness, integrity, courage and kindness. While we’re unable to run our week-long retreats, we’ll continue to provide information and resources regarding mindfulness practice and wellbeing strategies on both Facebook and Instagram on a regular basis. We will continue to work hard in to the future to make these unique experiences possible again maybe it’s all about timing! Warmly, Grant Milbourne. IME’s Founder + Executive Director. ***there photos are of each of the four cohorts to come through the program

03.01.2022 Who could do with one of these?! Here’s hoping you spend some quality time with friends and family this holiday period!

03.01.2022 When we created IME it’s fair to say that a weeklong mindfulness retreat for teenagers seemed a little unconventional. Here we are 3 years later and PLAYSCHOOL have recently aired ‘Mindfully Me’ it’s their first ever episode dedicated to fostering mindfulness in children who watch the show. If you’re interested in showing your little one, follow the link below. Go PLAYSCHOOL!! #MindfullyME #playschool #mindfulness #timesarechanging https://ab.co/3coutBn

02.01.2022 We dropped into Devonport High School today to talk all things mindfulness and how it can help manage stress and result in positive mental health outcomes.
