25.01.2022 OH DAAAAAHD Happy Fathers Day to all the bad joke-tellers, the room-clearing farters, the lung-squeezing bear-huggers and bestowers of incredible wisdom* For that and much, much more - thank you

25.01.2022 Is this thing on? Social media is an incredibly powerful way of communicating with new and existing customers and letting them know about your product or service. It gives you access to those audiences in a targeted, personalised and engaging way, the likes of which traditional marketing methods havent been able to do before. HOWEVER, social media will only amplify the voice your give your business. If you do not have the basics of your business brandin...g sorted (and no, I dont just mean a nice logo), your social media success will likely be limited. Before you post on social media its important to make sure you know exactly who youre targeting. Start by asking yourself these questions... Who is your ideal client What are their main pain points How does your product or service SOLVE their problem/s What is your unique selling proposition (what makes you different to your competitor/s) And if youre not feeling 100% confident on the answers to these questions for your business, it might just be whats holding you back from being the best you can be. Good news is, I can help. I have a FREE 6-page questionnaire designed to help business owners (and their staff) identify the answers to these questions. Its the very first step in the process I use for all my clients. Want a copy? Send me a DM and Ill email it off to you today! : @jasonrosewell See more

24.01.2022 Instagram - Like it or not? Yep, Instagram has removed the ability to see how many ‘likes’ your post has and every man and his dog is talking about it. So, for what it’s worth, here’s my take... I think this is a positive move for the Instagram platform and I suspect it will have a ripple effect on many others in the future. Social media can be a bleak and melancholy place to spend your time if you are impressionable or vulnerable. It is far too easy for people’s mental hea...lth to be compromised by constant comparisonitis - this is particularly true for teenagers and young adults still figuring out who they are and who they want to be. The desire to be popular is not a new concept for this audience (or any audience!), but the ability to literally calculate it by number of likes certainly is. From this perspective, this is a welcome and necessary change from Instagram. But I also believe it’s going to be a positive change for businesses. It will push businesses to deliver higher quality and more specifically targeted content. For business owners and marketers, the shift will be on creating opportunities for engagement (comments and reposts) rather than the vanity metric of ‘likes’. True engagement will come when you speak directly to your target audience and offer them solutions to their problems. Appealing to a broad audience with pure entertainment might gain you fast following and (previously) a high like count, but if they’re never likely to become customers (or be referrals for your business), then what’s the point? Hint: there is none. You are actually wasting your time, effort and money What will be interesting will be whether there will be a significant shift in user behaviour around liking and commenting on posts. Will users be more likely to engage rather than passively liking and moving on? Time will tell. I certainly hope so. Social media is a two-way street. If you like the content an account you follow is creating, tell them. Take the time to comment and share. The value of engagement has never been more important and all users need to step up and participate actively to create the platform that works best for them. These are some of my thoughts on it all - what are yours? Positive change or OMG why have they done this to me??

24.01.2022 Did you know... Instagram posts that feature FACES get 38% more likes!!?!* Yep, thats a whole lot more traction just by being more human and personal. So dont hide behind your product, make sure youre putting yourself, your staff and your customers (by featuring user-generated content) in the frame.... People buy from people, and brand loyalty is created when they understand your story and follow your journey. Take them on the ride with you. *source Sprout Social

24.01.2022 SCHOOL HOLIDAYS BE LIKE... To all those working parents out there trying to juggle school holidays while still working full throttle the week before the Christmas break... May the odds be ever in your favour...

24.01.2022 MOMENTUM So you are launching a new business or adding a new product or service, or perhaps youre celebrating a business milestone, and you want to increase your social media hustle to get some attention (and of course, SALES!) Awesome.... You follow a plan and execute it well, address the problem your business will provide the solution to, champion the hero (new business/ product/ service) highlighting all the fabulous benefits, spending lots of time creating high quality content, posting frequently and engaging consistently with your new and old followers *high fives* Your launch or event is a success and you breathe a big sigh of relief it all worked ok But now what? Youve got things to do and business is busy so you invest your time and energy elsewhere and let your socials lag a little Its tricky I know, but it can be a real trap. Maintaining momentum with your social media is so important. You can never take followers for granted. If you neglect them, at best, you will just stagnate for a while. At worse, your following will slip backwards, and fast. A full strategy should take events and launches into account and ideally will be leveraging off an already strong and engaged base of followers. Maintaining momentum after big events is vital to kick your social media profile to the next level. Work to a strategy that is manageable for you, and that maintains consistency so youre not taking so much effort to ramp up each time you need it : @momarkmoproblem See more

23.01.2022 The horrific bushfires ravaging across our great land has been (and continues to be) completely heartbreaking. The magnitude of the devastation and loss has been almost unfathomable. And like many, I have been glued to social media and news services, watching and trying to understand how a tragedy like this can unfold. It has been at times paralysing, at other times maddening and almost always utterly heartbreaking. But we have also witnessed great feats of human strength and... spirit. We are seeing a national-wide community of people come together to support and care for one another. Look no further than Celeste Barber and her incomparable fundraising superpowers - seriously, what a woman! Crises like these can be extraordinarily difficult to navigate as emotions are at extreme levels. This can be particularly true for businesses who still need to operate and market themselves during this period. My advice is to remember, it is not time for self-aggrandising, its a time to lead your community with empathy and compassion. Its also not a time for silence, this tragedy cannot be ignored. Find a way thats comfortable for you and your business to acknowledge the pain and devastation these fires have caused and help support our communities where you can. credit: the incredibly talented (and brave) @mattabbottphoto (on Instagram)

23.01.2022 DO YOU EVER ASK YOURSELF... Is social media marketing the right strategy for my business? Maybe I should just stick with what I know and what I have always done, after all its got me this far. Change is difficult, and when youre time poor already, adding more to your workload [or that of your staff] can make it feel impossible to manage.... But like it or not, the goal posts have shifted and the way people access information has dramatically changed. Not just for young people and not just for a handful of industries, Im talking across the board - including your target client. Still not convinced? Here are some stats from the Sensis Social Media Report for 2018. 79% of Australians use social media 59% of these people access social media every day or most days 81% use their smart phone to access social media 24% use social media to follow brands or businesses Age breakdown 18-29yo - 99% 30-39yo - 96% 40-49yo - 86% 50-64yo - 66% 65+ - 47% Popularity of social media sites Facebook - 94% Instagram - 46% Snapchat - 40% Twitter - 32% LinkedIn - 18% Pinterest - 10% 47% of small and medium businesses are active on social media There is so much opportunity to find your target client online and start a conversation. To listen to what they need and want so you can pivot and grow in your business accordingly. To build brand loyalty and foster the powerful connection of online community. This is possible for your business, whether youre a product or service and regardless of your industry. Dont get left behind... : Emily Morter

21.01.2022 Facebook Business Page ch-ch-changes are a-coming! If you manage your business Facebook page, you may have received a notification recently letting you know a new template is going to be rolled out. If you missed it, or werent sure what it meant, this article helps clear up whats going on in FB land to help businesses struggling with painfully low organic reach since the last major algorithm changes. ... Id love to hear your thoughts, do you think these new changes will work for businesses? And if youre not a business owner, are you happy to be seeing fewer business pages and more friends and family in your feed? https://blog.bufferapp.com/new-facebook-page-design#

18.01.2022 2 0 1 8 WHAT. A. YEAR! Soaring, gleeful skipping-down-the-street highs, self-doubt-filled, what-the-hell-am-I-even-doing lows and all that lies in between. 2018 has been one hell of a roller coaster ride!... 18.01.2022 Content It doesnt have to be a dirty word. I recently had a client say to me, I dont know what to post? How do we make what we do every day exciting for social media? ... Of course I understand the concern, but I hadnt been in their place of business for 5 mins before I could see a dozen or more little stories just bursting to be told. Every day in your business, you and your staff are doing amazing things, it might just be youre too close to see it. You pride yourself on going above and beyond for your clients to make sure their experience is an overwhelmingly positive one, so they can tell others about it and/or so they will come back as repeat customers. So when youre thinking about your social media content, take a step back and think about those small things you and your staff are doing every day to make your customer experience better. Write down all the steps in the process, from customer acquisition to sale to after sales service and completion Think about what you do and why you do it. Then, make small chunks of content based on the process. Take people behind the scenes of your business and explain what you do, show them how and help them discover why. This is the power of social media you get to speak directly to your target market and have an opportunity to engage with them. Dont waste it on broadcast or an advertising spiel. Tell them the story of your business, let them connect with you and your brand and show them how you can help solve their problem. Helping your ideal target audience to know and understand your business better will lead them closer to purchase point when theyre ready to buy your product or commit to using your service. : Sydney Rae via @unsplash

14.01.2022 # IN CAPTION OR COMMENTS?? Its possible we may* just have an answer to a long debated question... Should you be putting your Instagram hashtags in the caption or in the comments?... I have read countless articles on the subject, none really offering a solid position. Heres the latest one trying to demystify the algorithm preferences and provides some statistical proof, but please, have a read and decide for yourself. For now, my advice is to leave your hashtags in the caption, just try to hide them a little with several returns under your caption to keep your text looking clean *you know, until the next article comes out saying the complete opposite! https://www.socialmediatoday.com//should-you-put-i/525979/

13.01.2022 5 Minute Challenge Feeling like your message is being drowned out by the fast pace and high volume of social media? Heres a quick challenge to help jump start your content ideas to get your message back on point.... What problem does your business solve for your clients? What makes your solution the BEST option available over all others on the market? Write it down Are there any impediments to buy your product or service? Write them down How can you remove these hurdles to make your business irresistible to your ideal client? Tip: If its price, consider how you can ADD VALUE rather than lower your selling price or rate (as long as its reasonable and justifiable in the first place!) Write it down Use these points in your content marketing. Communicate your unique selling proposition and attract your ideal client You may have completed this excerise before, but as the market changes and new competitors emerge, its always a good idea to consider how your business can pivot and evolve to stay at the top of your game. So, what are you waiting for? Let me know in the comments below if youve taken up the challenge and if youve discovered anything new! See more

12.01.2022 A friendly reminder... Social media should form PART of your broader business marketing strategy How significant a part will depend on your target audience (remember not all platforms suit EVERY business!).... It should never be your entire business marketing strategy. Its a slice of the greater marketing cake Traditional marketing, comms and branding need to be in place so you know exactly what your business is and what you stand for before you start creating content for your socials. Often clients come to me initially for advice just on their social media strategy, but for this to be most effective, the broader marketing plan needs to be considered and well-implemented. Having an holistic understanding of PR, marketing and communications means I can assist where necessary to tweak and change messaging and provide advice across all aspects of marketing This is where experience working beyond social media is so advantageous. If youre keen to find out more about how I might be able to help your business marketing strategy, please shoot me an email See more

08.01.2022 Sometimes youve got to be a bit EXTRA! For many businesses, standing out from the crowd and your competitors can be challenging. Theres a lot of noise out there, so knowing, understanding and correctly communicating how your business is different from any other is vital for success. ... Ive got a blog post on the way about how you can determine and articulate your brand USP (unique selling proposition), but until then, enjoy this mesmerising fashion show - where this brand dared to be (very) different and fabulously OTT!

08.01.2022 OH HAI! Heres five fun (well, you be the judge!) facts about me you may, or may not, already know... 1. Im kinda little in stature (52 with my shoulders pulled back, neck stretched ), but Im often the loudest in the room ... 2. After completing my post-Grad in Journalism I got a job in the foreign press room at the Sydney Olympics. I was freelancing in the meantime, but life (and love ) got in the way and I moved to Melbourne instead! Journalism segued into PR and Marketing and well, here I am! 3. I cant stand mixing cooked meats together in a meal - surf and turf is the work of the devil 4. I have three kids - 11, 9 and nearly 7 - and motherhood has me questioning my sanity, bursting with pride, laughing hysterically, sobbing uncontrollably, gushing with love and testing my lung capacity on an almost daily basis. 5. Im an extrovert and recharge my energy when Im around people, so some days this working from home caper is t-r-i-c-k-y! The upside is I am usually a ball of energy at client meetings and am forever grateful to my business buddies for our regular coffee dates and pseudo water-cooler banter via Insta or FB!! Any surprises there, or did you all have me pegged? Got a mixed meat related question? Ask away below

06.01.2022 Look at me, all carefree and nonchalant... Truth is, February has been a massive month for Impression Media and I have been head down, bum up for most of it. And Im super grateful as Im working with some pretty damn ah-mazing clients who are dynamic and innovative in their respective fields and truly so great to work with.... I feel like Ive hit a deliciously sweet spot as a one-person business to be busy and feel purposeful but not frantic and spiralling out of control (or worse, desperately searching for work). And it feels good. Looking forward to relaxing with family and friends this weekend and making the most of these glorious final days of summer. Anyone doing the Rotto swim tomorrow? 04.01.2022 # INSTAGRAM HASHTAG STRATEGY # Do you have one? If not, why not?! [whats your favourite colour? ] Hashtags are how you get discovered on Instagram by other people. If you dont use them, you may as well lock yourself in an echo chamber and start screaming, cause its pretty much the same thing ... Heres the deal with hashtags... Theres a limit of 30# per post - use them all! Each is an opportunity to be discovered by a new audience. Create your own branded hashtag, use it each time you post and include it in your bio so others can use it too. Change up your hashtags and make them relevant to what youre saying in that post. To save time, create multiple sets of hashtags in your notes and use different ones depending on your message. Do your research! Think about your target client. What would they be searching for if they were looking to find your product or service? Use the search function to look up hashtags and see who is using it and how popular it is, this will give you an idea if its worth using for your business or not. Be specific with your hashtags. If your business services a local community, then keep your hashtags local and relevant. Using broad, global, well used hashtags might grow your following faster, but if they are based overseas and have no chance of ever being clients or customers then youre wasting your time. Keep your target market in mind, always. Follow the hastags you regularly use. Like and comment on the accounts on these feeds you want to do business with. Engage and be SOCIAL! Got another hot tip? 01.01.2022 When clients make you cry .... in a good way!! Im so lucky to be working with some really amazing people right now. Im training up a big team which can sometimes be a challenge, but these incredible people are brimming with brilliant ideas and really committed to making their social media strategy work - and it has been! If youre a business owner looking to increase the social media presence of your business, but dont know where to start - I can h...elp! I begin with a competitor analysis to benchmark your business, from there I develop a bespoke strategy, then train and implement with YOUR staff. Why dont I just to do it all for you? Because I strongly believe it should be kept in-house and heres why... You stay in control of your brand and message Your staff are empowered to learn new skills, take on new responsibilities and be champions for your business online The power of social media is that your customers (and prospective customers) feel like they are engaging directly with the business. If its being done by an external party it loses some authenticity. The people who are most invested in your business (you and your staff) are best at understanding the nuance of your business. They are uniquely positioned to answer specific queries and relate to your ideal customer - dont waste this valuable knowledge by outsourcing to someone else. Just like these fabulous clients of mine, it might be time to get some professional help to formulate a social media marketing strategy specifically for your business and then invest in training up your staff to carry it out. And if youd like some advice with that? Please touch base via email

01.01.2022 This is an exciting development... Twitter is making it easier to add photos and video within their app. A great move I think to try and keep pace with the Instagram train. Twitter is a strange beast. I personally like it, but have had to restrict my use over the years or Id spend all day down that particular rabbit hole! (Im a recovering Twitter addict and its a tough habit to break )... However, for businesses, its not always a platform I recommend. If you know your ideal target customer hangs out there, then absolutely, devote the time and energy to engage and generate conversation. Its an uniquely egalitarian space allowing you to do just that. If they dont, or you dont have the people-power to dedicate to the time it takes to engage and participate in such conversations, then Id say its not for you. Social media can be so draining on resources, time and energy. You need to be strategic with the ones you use. Not all platforms are created equal and not all will serve your purpose. Do you use Twitter, either personally or for business? What do you love (or hate!)about it?

01.01.2022 TECH TIPS There are a HEAP of apps and sites out there to help make content creation a little easier (and Im all about keeping things simple!). And o course, everyone is going to have their own preferences, but I thought Id give you a snapshot of my favourites right now...... VIDEOSHOP - super user friendly video creation app, I use this one all the time. Easy to add text to your video, move seamlessly between photo and video content and simply adjust the timing for each transition. Unfortunately, its only available for iPhone/iPad. UNFOLD - if youre not already using this app, as soon as you look at it youll recognise how many brands are using it for their Insta Story creation. To be honest, this kind of puts me off using it too much, but the aesthetic you can create is minimalist, beautiful and clean which I love. Plus the app itself is easy to use! CANVA - an oldie but a goodie, this content creation/ design website and app is a saviour for many who need to produce lots of content, quickly. Excellent for simple text posts or to make sure your image size is perfect for the platform youre using, this is a no brainer. MAGIC ERASER - no joke this app has been a game-changer for me! This dead simple app allows you to transform a solid jpeg into a transparent background png. You select which parts of the image you would like to remove and *snap* its gone. Super helpful when you need a logo to sit seamlessly in a document or on a post PIC MONKEY - this app has been on the scene for a while too, but its lasted for a reason! Use it to adjust your images and play with the many filters and overlays, but mostly, pay the extra and get the touch up feature - its cheaper than Botox! Of course I use a heap more, but these are the ones getting the biggest workout for me right now. What are your go-to apps to create content? Sharing is caring- comment below! See more
