24.01.2022 WINTER WARMERS 3 Helpful tips to staying warm this winter- 1.Dress warmly. Warm clothing, especially when its layered, not only prevents exposure, it also helps retain body heat. Wear a warm hat and thick socks. We lose most of our body heat through our head, hand and feet. 2. Use a hot water bottle. Water retains heat for a long time, making hot water bottles an affordable and effective way to stay warm. You can use one while sitting at your desk or watching television, and a water bottle under the blankets will keep your bed warm through the night. 3. Consume warm foods and beverages. Delicious winter soups and hot cocoa are part of the fun of the season. Hot tea and coffee too!
23.01.2022 WINTER WELLNESS TIP Is your mood or energy less during winter? Consider looking into your Vitamin D levels. We naturally get vitamin D from the sun during summer and spring, however during winter it is harder to obtain which can affect our mood, energy & immunity. Our Clinical Nutritionist, Kristen suggests checking your Vitamin D levels and aiming for an optimal level of least 75ng/ml. If low, you may want to consider eating sardines, mackarel, salmon or looking into Cod Liver Oil or Vitamin D supplementation.

18.01.2022 As part of the Australian Chiropractors Associations Back to School campaign, this month we will be encouraging kids to adopt positive spinal health habits These include: Carrying a backpack correctly with both straps, adjusting it to the correct height and ensuring only the essentials are packed, with heavier items to the back of the bag to reduce weight. Maintaining good posture when sitting in a classroom by keeping their shoulders back and relaxed with both feet ...firmly on the floor. Trying to reduce recreation screen time to two-hours every day. Eating a balanced, healthy diet and staying hydrated, helping kits to keep kids active in the playground and alert in the classroom. Getting enough physical activity is key for a childs wellbeing, so as a guide, kids should try and get at least 60 minutes of physical activity daily. Lets help kids practise these positive spinal health habits this back to school season and all year round. We welcome you to make an appointment before school resumes for more advice and assistance on implementing these positive health habits into your childs daily activity. We are even able to assist with fitting your childs backpack to suit their current level of development. Check out the link for more information below

14.01.2022 Over the past few months, many Australians have had to adapt to a new work environment at home. This change has lead to many physical and mental challenges. At Impulse Chiropractic, we have recently seen an increase in patients presenting with "working from home" related issues. It is important to always put your health and well being first, especially during these changes. Some key points to help adapt to the working from home environment include: Getting the workspace se...t up right! Make sure your workspace follows the correct ergonomic guidelines and promotes a healthy posture and well being. Routine - it is easy to get distracted when working at home. Having a daily routine can help drive productivity, purpose and motivation. Stay connected - although weve been in isolation, were not alone. Our friends and family are just one phone call away! Technology breaks - working from home promotes a higher use of technology and lack of mobility. Ensure that you take a break from screen time throughout the day and get moving! Find a Chiropractor! As mentioned, were currently seeing many more patients with working from home related complaints. Were open for business and ready to help you with those niggles and give you the correct advice about setting up your home work station! 13.01.2022 Weve all heard something about magnesium and that we dont get enough of it in recent times! But what exactly does magnesium do for us and why do we need it. Most people associate this mineral with muscle function, which is truehowever it does much much more for us than support our muscular system. Are you getting enough magnesium in your diet? 12.01.2022 Surfing is one of the most loved past times for Northern Beaches locals. Whilst it can be plenty of fun and a great way to escape the stress of everyday life, we do come across plenty of people who have injured themselves when surfing! Here are some simple tips to help prevent injuries and niggles that might pop up when surfing! Surfing is a physically demanding activity. Ensure that you prepare your body for the strains of surfing with a 10-15 minute warm up before hea...ding out. Finish your surfing session with a stretch on the beach. There is plenty of nice soft sand to stretch on! Balance out those rigorous surfing sessions with a less intense activity such as pilates or yoga. This helps maintain mobility and core strength. Surfing requires good mobility through your thoracic spine, shoulder, ankle and hip joints. A lack of mobility in these areas can be the reason for many surfing related injuries. Add some surfing specific conditioning exercises into your weekly routine. This will help prevent injuries and enhance performance. Drink plenty of water! Sounds basic but never underestimate the value of H2O! Check in regularly with your chiro to help your body move at its best! 11.01.2022 WINTER WELLNESS TIP Have you considered taking Supplements this winter? It may be beneficial to take supplements for those specific health conditions that are more likely to occur in colder temperatures, like the dreaded colds and flu, that will help support the health of our immune system at this time of year. Vitamin C and Zinc may help to reduce the duration and severity of colds and may also provide relief from symptoms. Other beneficial supplements include Echinacea, ho...rseradish, olive leaf and garlic. Here at Impulse Chiropractic we stock a range of Practicioner Only products, for more information call the clinic on 9939 8817. See more
10.01.2022 WINTER WELLNESS TIP Laugh more! As the winter months seem to drag on, it is important to stay positive. Happier people are less likely to develop colds even if they are exposed to cold viruses. Various components of the immune system respond to chemical secretions by the central nervrous system that is released when you are happy or sad. Laughter also boosts the number of antibody-producing cells leading to a stronger immune system, thus improving resistance to disease...so enjoying a few rounds of the giggles with some friends can be some serious therapy!
