25.01.2022 Today our Year 12 Prefects enjoyed their final Prefect/Principal Morning Tea with Dr Pietsch. As student leaders they have been presented with unprecedented challenges this year due to Covid, but throughout it all they have maintained a positive attitude and remained focused on achieving their best. We thank them for being such great ambassadors for Inaburra and confidently leading the student body over the past twelve months. #ClassOf2020
25.01.2022 Yesterday at Inaburra, our Learning Leader for HSIE, Mr Low, completed the admission formalities to practice as a lawyer in NSW. This involved swearing ‘the oath’ in the presence of fellow staff member, Justice of the Peace, Mr Bromley, as an authorised witness. Usually, this event would take place in the Supreme Court, but due to current circumstances, the Court has dispensed with the requirement for a person to attend a ceremony for the rest of the year and has allowed for ...formalities to be completed remotely. Rather than let this opportunity pass us by, several Senior School and Support Staff worked together to celebrate this milestone event. Mr and Mrs Low would like to thank the Executive staff for their long-term and ongoing support during Mr Low's study and post-grad requirements. They would also like to thank the support staff for their efforts in making the celebration happen, and for the Canteen staff who provided a beautiful array of treats for morning tea. Also, the encouragement of both work colleagues and the Year 12 Legal Studies students has made the ongoing challenge of balancing work and study a possibility. On the 11 September Mr Low’s admission will take full effect.
25.01.2022 Our entrepreneurial Year Sixers raised a very impressive total of $4124.60 at their end-of-year Mini Fete last week. Junior students and teachers enjoyed a variety of student operated 'Covid-Safe' stalls throughout the day. Well done to everyone for their perseverance in the hot weather and organising all the set-up and pack-down - it was a very big job! In keeping with the School’s commitment to foster engaged and aware global citizens, all money raised from this event will help to support two worthwhile causes, namely ‘Sea Turtle Conservancy’ (https://conserveturtles.org/) and ‘Kids with Cancer’ (https://kidswithcancer.org.au/). These charities were chosen by the Year 6 students and approved by the Junior School Leadership team.
24.01.2022 Congratulations to our Year 12 Music students and their teacher, Mr Sing for a wonderful showcase event last night. Students performed their HSC Majorworks to a restricted audience in preparation for their exams in a couple of weeks. It was a night of outstanding performances, demonstrating this group's hard work and dedication over many years to learning their craft. Year 12 have been faithfully and competently lead, accompanied and inspired by Mr Sing, a very talented musician in his own right. Good luck in the upcoming Music exams Year 12!
22.01.2022 Prospective families won't want to miss our next 'Meet the Principal' online event on Monday 21 September at 10am. Inaburra’s ‘Meet the Principal’ events are designed to provide prospective enrolments with a window into Inaburra School. Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 restrictions we are unable to run these events onsite. 21.01.2022 Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 2020! Last night we celebrated your academic achievements and successful completion of 13 years of formal schooling. Thank you for being such outstanding ambassadors for Inaburra and contributing to the unique culture that makes our School such a wonderful learning community. It was an honour to share this milestone with you and your families, face-to-face (the first public event we have had since March). There was definitely pure joy on many of your faces, realising that the HSC is behind you, and an unimpeded future lies ahead. Inaburra wishes you all the very best and God's blessing for the journey that awaits. We'd also like to acknowledge our amazing photographer, Daniel, who took these photos - too many to share with you all here. Cherished memories of a very special night.

20.01.2022 Inaburra's Digital Dance Showcase was a beautiful exhibition of our student dancers' incredible physical strength and flexibility, and it also represented the mental, emotional, and spiritual strength and agility these students have been required to develop throughout the challenging circumstances they have faced this year in completing their Dance studies. The high standard of work these students have produced, despite the disruptions of online learning and the COVID-19 restrictions, is admirable. Thanks to all the student dancers who took part, the Dance Teaching Staff, Alumni Dance teachers, Media students and Technical staff who helped pull the showcase together.
18.01.2022 One of the original Sydney Olympic torches visited Kindergarten today. Students were very excited to see it up close and imagine what it would be like to carry the flame! Three time Winter Olympian and Sydney Olympic torch relay participant Danielle Carr-Mcgrath OAM OLY graciously loaned it for the day and shared her stories of competing at the highest level in her sporting field.
18.01.2022 At the end of Term 4 some of our Year 9 and 11 Music Students visited Year 2 to demonstrate the instruments available to them next year when they have opportunity to join the Training Band. Year 2 were delighted to listen to the various sounds created by these instruments. They must now consider over the Christmas break which instrument they’d like to play in Training Band next year. Training Band 2021 is available to any student in Years 3 and 4 (and with special approval ...for Year 5). The joy of a K-12 school is the wonderful way our students engage with each other in different contexts. The Senior Students who performed for Year 2 all started in Training Band, and whilst they got to demonstrate their instrumental skills, Year 2 also performed for them with their singing and percussive skills a very organic sharing of the love of music. What an exciting adventure the musical journey is at Inaburra be it in Year 2 or Year 12!
18.01.2022 Congratulations to Junior School student Beau Matthews who has been awarded the Cerebral Palsy Sporting & Recreation Association Margaret and Allan Gregson Encouragement Award for Male Athletics for September 2020. " I was very proud to win this award and to have my hard work, dedication and competitive results recognised. I am so grateful for my family as they are my greatest supporters. Their endless encouragement helps me every day to keep chasing my dreams. Thank you also to CPSARA for providing encouragement and the many inclusive sporting opportunities that I have been able to enjoy." https://www.cpsara.org.au/athleteofthemonth
17.01.2022 Congratulations to one of our Year 12 Dance students, Madeline Harvey, who has been nominated for possible inclusion in CALLBACK for both her Core Composition and Core Performance! This is a wonderful achievement and reflection of the dedication of Dance teacher, Mrs Croucher who has 'virtually' directed many of the Dance Students through the year to achieve such high quality major works.
16.01.2022 Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) are enjoying their exploration of different global natural environments. Year 4 in particular have had lots of fun potting up the tube stock they received several weeks ago and watching the various species of native grasses and shrubs respond to their care and nurture.
15.01.2022 Year 12's 'last' formal assembly yesterday was an intimate gathering with only their year group in the PAC. Dr Pietsch's talk was followed by farewell speeches from the School Captains and Year Advisors. This week, and next, for our Year 12 cohort will be a long list of 'last times'.
15.01.2022 As we’re unable to rehearse our normal instruments at the moment, Training Band has been involving themselves in lots of different musical activities. This week, we did some Japanese Taiko drumming lead by the Taiko master himself, Dave Manuel.
15.01.2022 More festive Christmas bling to celebrate 'Finals Week' in the music department; yesterday was the last rehearsal for Chamber Strings for 2020.
14.01.2022 A Flag Raising Ceremony was conducted last week to mark the occasion of raising the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags alongside the Australian National flag together for the first time at the front of our School. These three flags will now fly together every day. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the local Dharawal community along with the Chairman of the Board, Inaburra Principal, Dr Pietsch, School Captains, staff from the school and the preschool and a representative from the ADF to assist with following flag flying protocols. This ceremony is one step we are taking as a school as we look to build stronger links with the local Dharawal community so we can become be better informed about their history and culture.
13.01.2022 Junior Strings getting into the festive spirit; their instruments embellished with all things Christmas for their final rehearsal this week.
12.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them... Lest we forget #RemembranceDay #WeRememberThem #LestWeForget (Photo taken at our Junior School Remembrance Day 2019)
11.01.2022 Exciting news for Inaburra Year 12 Textiles and Design student Zarie Dawson, who has been selected for the Shape exhibition at the Powerhouse Museum for her MTP Textiles. We are very excited that Zarie has been included in the final selection to go on display - what an honour to be one of the exemplary Major Projects from HSC Design and Technology from NSW. Shape 2020 will open at The Powerhouse Museum, Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences on 27 February 2021.
11.01.2022 Inaburra Junior School Pin recipients were honoured today with the presentation of their awards by Dr Pietsch and Mr Coote. Congratulations to Stage 3 students Stephanie Cheang, Connor Johnston and Aston Nolan. This is a wonderful achievement; recognition of their sustained efforts and the positive contribution they all make in a unique way to the Inaburra School community.
11.01.2022 Exciting news for Inaburra's Year 12 Drama students! An unprecedented total of five students have been nominated for possible inclusion in OnSTAGE for their individual performances. Congratulations to those on the shortlist. This could not have been achieved without the support of Inburra's wonderful Drama Teacher, Mrs Jones, who has nurtured this very talented cohort through an extremely challenging year. All 14 students in this year's drama class have worked extremely hard ...and should be very proud of their performances. Sofia Buttel - First Lady of Cinema Jonah Eskander - Life is a Cabernet Raquel Mezrani - Sitto's 100th Birthday Henry Phillips - The man I killed Charlie Torr - Too Junior Jones
10.01.2022 FROM THE ARCHIVES. Music has been one of cornerstones of Inaburra School since its early days back in the 80's. Whilst the choice of instruments might have changed (recorders are nowhere to be found these days), music is still an integral part of our School culture and incredibly popular among students from Kindergarten right through to Year 12.
10.01.2022 Having made the move to online textbooks, Inaburra’s Mathematics department was faced with the challenge of finding a new home for our complete set of 7-10 Cambridge Textbooks. Learning Leader Mrs Hauser reached out through to the Mathematical Association of New South Wales (MANSW) and a wonderful solution was found. McIntyre High School in Inverell said they would love to have them then a very kind and generous member of the MANSW community volunteered to pay the cost of th...e courier to Inverell then Mrs Stone from Inaburra arranged for all the excess textbooks to be checked out of our school's system with help from the Library staff then Abbey, Brianna, Amber, Natascia and Lauren from Year 10 helped pack the textbooks into boxes then, the courier came on Wednesday afternoon and drove overnight to Inverell, delivering the books to their new school the very next day! We are extremely happy that these resources have found their way to a new set of students and that we could help McIntyre High School in particular, being a remote, regional country school in an area that has been hard hit by both bushfires and drought. Thanks to all the many hands who helped along the way to make this possible.
08.01.2022 Junior students enjoyed a glorious day in the sun yesterday, participating in an Oztag Competition organised and led by the Year 6 House Captains. Students took part in the competition in their House Groups with all points awarded throughout the day contributing to the overall House Shield that will be awarded at the end of the year. The winning House from the Oztag House Day competition were the SHARKS!
08.01.2022 With the incredibly unusual year we have had in the Music department, we felt it should finish on a fun and festive note. So we have invited our students to celebrate the end the term by decorating their instruments for their final rehearsals. This entire week is ‘Final Rehearsals’ week. Traditionally held after Annual Music Night, this is a week of open rehearsals where friends and family get to come along and see what a band or ensemble rehearsal looks like. With restrictions this year however, we are unable to do that. Instead, we’ve decided to end the week with some fun activities for the students to celebrate the year that has been, despite everything. So welcome to Junior Concert Band’s final rehearsals for this year! Stay tuned to see how the different ensembles celebrate their final rehearsals.
08.01.2022 Our Year 9 Geography students participated in a field-work incursion organised by Inaburra's Geography teachers. The experience was hands-on and utilised a range of geographic skills, fieldwork techniques and spatial technologies (a GIS system) to help develop students’ understanding of environmental processes and management strategies in a intertidal wetland ecosystem. Activities included: measuring our very own man-made transect; scientific measuring of air water and soil; zoom calls with Geographers from Sydney Olympic Park Education Centre. Special thanks to Mrs McDonough and Mr Lukins for co-ordinating the day.
03.01.2022 Year 7 were recently involved in a mathematical incursion- the World of Maths - which provided our students with a range of fun, colourful, hands-on, problem-solving activities. Students also participated in our Inaburra School Maths Trail, which involved different stations that challenged students to measure and estimate. Year 7s were required to think think outside the box and work creatively with their classmates to solve the problems they were confronted with. Students enjoyed getting out of the classroom and physically engaging with their problem solving; many were able to persevere for much longer than they normally would.
03.01.2022 Inaburra is collaborating with an alliance of Christian schools to adopt an innovative way forward for teacher training. In partnership with four other Sydney schools, we are piloting a trainee program to ensure the future supply of high-quality teachers. Trainee teachers will enter into a four-year undergraduate or two-year postgraduate degree program with a big difference: the trainee teachers will be working in the schools with students for their entire tertiary education.... The Teaching School’s Alliance Sydney (TSAS) has been established by Inaburra School, Blue Mountains Grammar School, St Andrew’s Cathedral School, The Scots College and William Clarke College. The Alliance will partner with Australia’s largest Protestantaffiliated tertiary provider, Alphacrucis College, to deliver the degree program. This amounts to an extraordinary example of co-operation across Christian groups in the area of professional training with three of the schools being Anglican, Scots is Presbyterian, Inaburra is Baptist and Alphacrucis is Pentecostal. The initiative will help address the anticipated growth in the number of teachers required in NSW schools in the next 10 years (a need occasioned by growth in enrolments and also by the anticipated retirement of the large number of teachers who are part of the baby boomer generation). The Alliance hopes to also address wider social concerns about student teacher quality, high attrition rates in the profession and classroom readiness of graduates. The model operates around a clinical supervision methodology, whereby trainee teachers are embedded on rotation within the participating schools, both for practical teaching experience, and also to learn the craft of schools through part-time work as teachers’ aides during their degree years. 01.01.2022 Inaburra School is one of the few Independent schools in NSW that has an indigenous name: the word ‘inaburra’ comes from the Wiradjuri word for ‘dream’. As a school, we regularly pay our respects to elders of the Dharawal nation at assemblies and our students learn about indigenous history and culture across the curriculum. We realised however, there is more we could be doing to raise awareness of indigenous issues and to show respect to those members of the Dharawal nation ...whose people have inhabited this part of Sydney for thousands of years. Inaburra has been pursuing a number of initiatives in relation to indigenous education, and given that we are currently in NAIDOC week, the timing seems appropriate to be sharing two of these initiatives with the wider community. FLAG RAISING CEREMONY Tomorrow (Friday 13 November) we will be conducting a ceremony to mark the occasion of raising the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags out the front of the school. The installation of a new flagpole will allow us to fly all three flags the Australian National flag, the Aboriginal flag and the Torres Strait Islander flag. Member for Hughes, Mr Craig Kelly MP, officially presented our new flags to Inaburra's School Captains, Daniel and Kate, last week. INDIGENOUS SCHOLARSHIP In 2021 we will be introducing a fourth scholarship category, the Indigenous Scholarship, that will sit alongside our Academic, Music and All-rounder scholarships. Details of our scholarship program can be found on the Inaburra School website. These initiatives are just the first of many as we seek to build stronger links with the local Dharawal community, be better informed about their history and culture, raise awareness of indigenous issues across the school and support indigenous education at Inaburra.
01.01.2022 It’s a big night for our Year 6 students! #year6graduation #startingsoon
