In less than three years, I've transformed an almost barren backyard into a tranquil oasis of over 45 plant species that occur naturally in the Hunter region. Installed with layers of mulch in well-composted, free-draining soil, these plants all thrive without chemical fungicides or insecticides. For myself, it’s a labour of love, fuelled by a passion to integrate aesthetics and ecology, biodiversity and conservation. And to raise awareness of our under-valued flora while creating a haven for the Hunter region’s vanishing songbirds. My designs envisage both a sense of unity and a sense of place, while attracting a spectrum of desirable native birds and other wildlife. Depending on your location, these may include bandicoots, bilbies, gliders and koalas, and small endangered birds such as the Eastern Spinebill, Fairy Wren and Regent Honeyeater, among many others. Native birds, especially insectivorous birds such as the Rufous Fantail, Scarlet Robin and Spotted Pardolote that feed on mosquitoes and other insect pests, greatly reduce the costs and hazards of toxic pesticides, including their potential costs to the health of humans, pets, plants, soil and wildlife Are you aware that many of these birds now face serious decline or extinction? And are you aware that Australia is the ancient land where birdsong began? This is another reason for seizing every opportunity to promote a wider, deeper appreciation of local and regional natural heritage. My wish, above all, is to inspire and empower you to leave a legacy of timeless beauty and ecological integrity, for your own sense of achievement, for your loved ones, and for future generations of Australians.

17.01.2022 TRAUMA SEASON IS HERE Our wildlife is on the move!!! In the last 24 hours ALONE we received reports from our wildlife group contacts JUST IN BRISBANE that... 4 koalas, 11 kangaroos, 5 wallabies, 17 possums & 2 squirrel gliders had to be euthanised due to hit and run accidents on our roads. Of those 39 animals that lost their lives, 14 were carrying babies in their pouch, now orphaned fighting for their lives... half, if we are being optimistic will make it. The facts are simple: It’s breeding season. Animals are on the move. The days are shorter & nights longer. So there is more ‘active’ time for all our nocturnal species. More than 50% of females will already be carrying joeys already We have two words for you Brisbane: SLOW DOWN! If you would like to help feed the orphans of this years trauma season, you can do so by: Sending us a voucher from vet-n-pet DIRECT Or Australian Wildlife Supplies so we can send supplies to orphans like little Peanut pictures below. 14.01.2022 Sorry, I've done nothing on this page for a long time. One of us nearly lost their eyesight, one of us nearly died from internal bleeding, and we're grieving a sudden death in the family. We'll get over this and meanwhile we're looking to a more productive future. (y)

08.01.2022 I URGE ALL MY FRIENDS TO READ & SHARE THIS; YOU COULD SAVE A LOVED ONES LIFE BY KNOWING THIS SIMPLE INFORMATION!!! Stroke has a new indicator! They say if you f...orward this to ten people, you stand a chance of saving one life. Will you send this along? Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue: During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ...she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 PM Jane passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this. A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough. >>RECOGNIZING A STROKE<< Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR. Read and Learn! Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions: S *Ask the individual to SMILE. T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (i.e. Chicken Soup) R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS. If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher. New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved. I have done my part. Will you?
