25.01.2022 IELTS Reading tests. One of my best suggestions for this task is always to ask yourself what does this question mean to me? You need to think outside the box and really try to get the main point of the question. A good analogy for this is: when your car has a flat tire, you don’t open the bonnet to fix the engine, right? You must really think about what the question is asking/saying to you, and only then you go to the text and look for the answer. 17.01.2022 IELTS Reading Test - TOP TIPS You have 60 minutes to complete your test so divide up your time. Section 1 is the easiest of the three sections so perhaps you should spend 15 minutes, 20 minutes for section two and 25 minutes for section 3 (Section 1 - 15 minutes, Section 2 - 20 minutes, Section 3 - 25 minutes). Read the text headline. This will help you download all the active knowledge you have about the subject. Go to the questions and make sure you know what th...ey want you to do. Is it TRUE, FALSE, NOT GIVEN type or YES, NO, NOT GIVEN? If you don’t pay attention to the type of question, you might commit a serious mistake! Once you understand what you need to do, read each question carefully and make sure you understand what you need to look for in the text. Usually you will need to look for synonyms of the words in the questions. Keep calm and work through one question at a time. If you’re not sure of the answer, put something that you are willing to bet $5 on it, move down to the next one. Every question is worth one point so don’t spend too much time on one question only.
