25.01.2022 TOWNSVILLE BULLETIN FEATURES: Check out tomorrow's Townsville Bulletin (Tuesday 1 December) for the 2020 Academic Achievers lift-out featuring our awardees from Ingham High's Awards Ceremony! 2020 School Captain, Jordan, recently featured in the Townsville Bulletin as a prelude to the published feature. Ingham High is very proud of Jordan's achievements this year! On Saturday 5 December, the Townsville Bulletin will also publish "The Class of 2020 School Formals" lift-out. Our graduating class will be included in this feature also!

25.01.2022 BEACON CHARTER SIGNING EVENT - CONGRATULATIONS YEAR 10! This morning Year 10 students put their "Hands Up, Not out!" and publicly pledged to willingly commit to participate in the Beacon Project which aims to place every Year 10 student in further education, training or employment by 31 March 2023. We are proud of each and every one of you! Stay tuned for further photos from the event later today

24.01.2022 GUEST SPEAKER FOR TOURISM CLASS: The Year 11 and 12 Tourism class were recently visited by Siana; a member of the Young Tourism Leaders program. Siana is passionate about Queensland tourism and shared personal and professional stories about her career journey so far. Students were provided with information on career pathways into the tourism industry and the benefits that a role in tourism can offer.

19.01.2022 Ingham High is proud to be in partnership with Thuringowa SHS and the Global Tropics Futures (GTF) Academy. The GTF Academy offers students the opportunity to explore project-based learning through the virtual learning environment, iSee. Round 1 of the GTF program has begun recently and teacher Jennie Nash is teaching a scientific Inquiry course as a member of the GTF teaching team. Jennie is teaching students from as far north as Mornington Island, Millaroo, Townsville and west to Charters Towers. Year 10 student, Trista is a Queensland STEM Girl Power Ambassador and is a student mentor to assist the students as they learn how to become citizen scientists. Trista is an excellent mentor and an invaluable member of the Global Tropics Futures team.

19.01.2022 YEAR 7 STUDENTS SHOW THEY CARE! During Core Skills Development lessons (CSD) on Wednesdays, Ingham State High School students have been busily preparing items they believe other young people in our community would need in difficult times. This culminated into Care Packages, consisting of items created by the students. A special thank you to Mrs Jenny Jackson who kindly donated water bottles and noodles for all of the packages. On Wednesday this week, Year 7 students handed over their packages to Youth Workers, Quinta and Alana from the HUB. Well done Year 7 and Mrs Brown!

17.01.2022 INGHAM STATE HIGH SCHOOL - BEACON CHARTER SIGNING EVENT 2020: Many thanks to multi-talented, 2009 Ingham High Graduate/Singer/Song Writer/Recording Artist/Pharmacist, Nicole Cross, who kindly gave up her time this morning to be the Guest Speaker at this year's Beacon Ceremony. Nicole shared her compelling story with us as she followed an interesting path from high school in pursuit of her goals, always maintaining her passion for writing music and entertaining. 15.01.2022 SCHOOL-BASED TRAINEESHIP UPDATE: Charlotte, Year 11, has been working in a casual position at Tropical Vets for 18 months and recently signed up to undertake a School-Based Traineeship. Charlotte will be undertaking Certificate II in Animal Studies online with a registered training organisation, while completing her senior schooling and continuing her paid work in the clinic. Congratulations Charlotte and thank you Tropical Vets for supporting our students!

15.01.2022 AWARDS CEREMONY 2020: CONGRATULATIONS JORDAN! Ingham State High School congratulates 2020 School Captain, Jordan who has been named the Scholar of the Year and the recipient of a $10,000 Rising Star Scholarship from James Cook University! The Rising Star Scholarship was determined through a rigorous process, with a panel making the final decision based on JCU's criteria and the unidentified winning student's written synopsis. Ms Chelsea Ward, JCU Future Student Advisor and I...ngham State High School Relationship Manager, was on hand to present Jordan with his scholarship. Jordan was also the recipient of the Caltex Allrounder Award, the ADF Long Tan Leadership and Teamwork Award and the Year 12 Leadership Award. Jordan also received a Distinction for Studies, a Distinction for Service, the Subject Prize for both Physics and English, a Silver Award for Squash and was named Squash Player of the Year. 14.01.2022 LOCALS HELPING LOCALS: The Year 9 Economics and Business enterprise project culminated today when special guests from the Ingham district were invited to this morning's full school assembly. Each of the enterprise groups were able to thank their support business for their involvement in the project, as well as present their chosen community group with their profit donation. The enterprise project injected over $2,200 in sales into local Ingham businesses, with profits totalling $820 being donated to following lucky recipients: Ingham State School Playgroup, Ingham Bluehaven Aged Care Facility, Ingham Coastguard, Ingham Mens Shed, Hinchinbrook Community Support Centre, Forrest Beach Surf Lifesaving Club and Ingham Ambulance Station. Congratulations Mrs Coco and Year 9ECB!

The first recipients are Amayah, Year 8 (for helping a fellow student to feel a part of the team during cricket, resulting in the other student receiving applause from the class for their contribution); Dimitty, Year 7 (for kindly helping out another student while in the tuckshop line); Trent, Year 8 (for consistently helping others around him in class); Abbey, Year 8 (for helping other students to code their robots in Design and Technology). Well done students. Ingham High is proud of you all.

The Hinchinbrook Community Support Centre is offering a FREE course during the first week of the school holidays. Anyone aged between 12 and 24 can come and learn valuable skills to aide in gaining employment opportunities. Topics covered: job readiness skills, communication skills, resume and cover letter writing, applying for jobs, the interview process, educational opportunities, and grooming and deportment.

07.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS 2021 STUDENT LEADERS! The Investiture Ceremony for our 2021 Student Leaders was held this morning. We sincerely thank Deputy Mayor Andrew Cripps and P & C President, Sandra Coco for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend the ceremony and present Badges of Office to our newly elected Student Leaders. Thank you also to all other special guests, community members, 2020 School Captains Rachel Henney and Jordan Di Bella, and parents and caregivers for making the occasion extra special for us all. Congratulations to all our newly elected Student Leaders!

05.01.2022 YEAR 8 LEADERSHIP DAY: The Year 8 Leadership Day occurred on Friday 13 November and was an enjoyable day for all involved. Students engaged in a number of activities that tested their leadership and problem-solving skills. Through working together to solve problems and completing a series of challenges, each student was encouraged to reach their potential. Students did very well and completed all challenges with smiles on their faces. Year 8 Teachers were very pleased to see how well the teams worked together, encouraging and supporting one another. A big thank you goes to the Year 11 students who supported our Year 8 teams. They displayed exceptional leadership skills and we are very proud of them.

04.01.2022 YEAR 7 SCIENCE: Year 7 students have been conducting experiments to test the PH level (acids and base) of various household products as part of their unit on Chemistry this term.

04.01.2022 STATE HONOURS ENSEMBLE PROGRAM (SHEP) 2020: Three of our junior string Instrumental Music students attended a three day intensive SHEP (State Honours Ensemble Program) workshop in Townsville recently. David, Sam and Anthony-Liam rehearsed for three days and gave a grand performance on the final day. They had the opportunity to play with other instrumental music students from around the Townsville and surrounding districts and had tutoring from expert musicians. We are incredi...bly proud of our students as they put themselves out of their comfort zones, playing music which was quite challenging and unfamiliar to them. All three students were congratulated by the organisers for their efforts and commitment to their musical development and awarded with a certificate. 03.01.2022 FAREWELL YEAR 12: On Friday morning, the whole school community gathered to wish our Year 12 students a final farewell. Year 11 students, parents/caregivers and staff formed a tunnel and 56 graduating students took the long walk out of the school gates for the final time. We wish them all the best as they embark on their exciting futures. Ingham High is richer because of their leadership, commitment and dedication to our school. We are proud of each and every one of them!

The program aims to establish sustainable work and life transitions for all, through providing a series of strategies designed to assist young people to make excellent decisions about their futures. This is achieved through fostering industry and education partnerships, which aim to create... ongoing opportunities for secondary school students to learn and develop in the workplace and the broader community. Congratulations students on your participation and commitment as you pledged to "pursue a positive pathway in further education, training or employment." 01.01.2022 SHEP 2020: Three of our school’s String instrumental music students have been selected to participate in SHEP (State Honours Ensemble Program) in Townsville in October. David (violin), Samantha (viola), and Anthony (cello) will attend the three day event where they will rehearse with other string students from around the region, learn from expert tutors in their field and then perform at a gala concert on the final day. It is a very exciting event and we wish the students well as they engage in this wonderful musical experience. Congratulations!
