23.01.2022 Claim # 000001 Claim Type: WorkCover DOA: December 2018... Occupation: Boilermaker / Robot Operator Injuries: Right Foot Metatarsal Injury Back injury Sever crush injury with nerve damage. Liability: Gary is employed as a boilermaker. A frame that was welded was being moved by a gantry crane. It was a 1 tonne gantry crane. It weighed in excess of 200Kg. The frame weighed ~ 207 KG. The frame fell from approximately 1 meter and landed on his metatarsal. It caused a severe crush injury to his right foot. The employer was liable as there was no room in the crane area for the employee to get out of the way. Workplace Health and Safety investigated the incident and the employer was breached. Gary was told by his specialist he will always will have pain with heavy lifting and standing for long periods of time. The driver said he didn't see her. Said he only saw the car behind her. Her vehicle got hit and spun 360' trying to pull up. Another vehicle was at the scene as well and both gave the details to Janis. Police did not turn up at the scene. Tow truck driver said the police wouldn't attend. This occurs more often than not.
