20.01.2022 Books closed - Firstly I want to say a huge thank you to each one of you that walk through my doors and support me, whether our relationship is new or we’ve been through the last few years together. I’m so grateful you choose me. I’ve made the decision to close my books for the rest of 2020. This means if you already have an appointment for this year or you are a regular your appointments will stay the same.... As most of you know I am now working 3 days a week and work on my own. 14.01.2022 Let’s get deep Over the last 6 months with iso a lot of women couldn’t get in to have their roots and greys touched up. This raised something that to me is an important issue. The grey hair.... Why are they such a bad thing and why do we as women feel the strong need to cover them? So many women come to me and the first thing they say is cover the greys that’s my main concern. Honestly it breaks my heart a little. Why? Why are we covering the natural part of us? Why do we feel the need to not let anyone know we have gray hair? I’ll tell you why because society tells us so. It tells us if women have grey hair we’re old and tired looking. But did you know 32 percent of women under 30 have grey hair. Do you think 30 is old? I certainly do not! But let’s look at the flip side. Men, if men have grey hair they are a silver fox, wise and look better. What a double standard!! What if women felt the same about their own grey hair, what If we felt empowered and counted every grey hair on our head as a blessing? How much Better would we feel about ourselves and how much more would you stop judging other women for choosing not to cover their grey hair. 10.01.2022 The Basin - Did you know this part of your service is where most peoples anxiety spikes higher than the rest of the time they are in salon, why? Well this is where you cannot see what’s happening, your hair is wet and you can’t hear very well. Your Vulnerable to what’s happening and sometimes your stylist may make small noises or grab another stylist to have a look. ... With all this in mind I do everything possible to make this experience as relaxing as possible. Here’s how Your walked over to the basin,head guided back and made comfortable. Asked questions like are you comfortable, would you like your feet up, let me know if the temperature needs to be changed. The shampoos used have oils that relax the mind and body and a firm Pressure let’s you know your in good hands. If your having a toner you will ALWAYS be shown back to your seat so you can see the colour change and exactly what I’m doing. No secrets here. Once the shampoo is complete a towel is placed behind the neck for extra comfort and conditioner or treatment is applied. This is where you enter heaven, depending on if your having a treatment or not is how long your massage will go for but never under 3 minutes. I use a firm pressure massaging the SCALP not the hair, around the hairline, temples, crown, behind the ear, nape and neck all in this order. The secret to a good head massages is pressure and technique rubbing in the same spot for 3 minutes is NOT enjoyable. Once the massaging comes to an end (insert sad face) I rinse, towel dry your hair and ears gently and show you back to your seat. Now this might seem over the top BUT I get a thank you or that was Amazing from almost everyone who sits in my basin. This step can absolutely make someone’s day and I love that I can make someone feel so relaxed. It’s the small things that are so so so important, the small things are what you remember and why you come back. 03.01.2022 Lighting & Expectations - We all know lighting plays a BIG role in how your colour looks but what about how the photo/video is taken? This video gives you a good idea on how this works, this is the same hair in the same lighting but with different angles and speeds to show how even the way a photo is taken can give off another hue.... I love creating hair and I love reference photos but please remember that icy blonde probably has a cool light behind it accentuating the pops of white. I always take my after photos and videos in natural lighting but even then depending on the day overcast or sunny morning or afternoon will change the shade of the colour. My point to this post is to remember the way you see your hair will change and the expectations of Instagram will most of the time let you down. 03.01.2022 Trending - Two things here that I’m seeing a lot more of in salon lately is the chop and adding depth. In Sally’s hair she had some breakage at the back of her nape and a solid blonde all over.... We applied a full head of baby lights with @nakhair sugarplex adding in structurecomplex. Every second piece of hair that was left out we applied @redken shades EQ to add the depth. Rinse then gloss with shades EQ.
