24.01.2022 Strawberries, roses and love. The perfect bubbly drop @champagnedumangin

23.01.2022 2015 Grosset Rieslings - superb as usual! Jeffery Grosset's obsession with expressing variety and place, and meticulous attention to detail in vineyard and winery have again resulted in magnificent 2015 rieslings. The 2015 vintage experienced its earliest picking date in 35 years after a cool, mild summer. This has resulted in a pair of beautifully dry , intensely flavoured wines with steely acidity and unmatched balance. They will live for a long long time. Grosset Springval...e Riesling - rated 95/100 "A bobby dazzler of a wine. Soft and easy going but strung with tense flavour from the back palate onwards" Grosset Polish Hill Riesling - rated 97/100 "It's purity personified, a particularly intense portrayal of lemon & lime flavours. It has power, it has length, and it is pristine" See more

Something to think about is The 2014 Clonakilla ORiada Shiraz. The ORiada is a classic Canberra District Shiraz. It is a perfect wine to introduce people to this exciting new style Aus Shiraz.... The critics have given it a big thumbs up: This has class stamped all over ita sparkling river of dark fruits that run from the tip of the tongue through to the elegant, but oh so complex, finish and aftertaste. Exhilarating. James Halliday Canberra region magic. Black pepper, dark fruit, lavender, exotic spice with superfine texture and superb tannin balance. Ralph Kyte-Powell The bouquet is complex and spicy supple and savoury, gentle in mouth-feel and finely balanced, with a long and satisfying aftertaste. Huon Hooke

17.01.2022 Increasingly, winemakers around Australia are identifying distinctive blocks or parcels of pinot noir fruit in their vineyards. Gourmet Traveller expert wine panel tasted a range of wines, many displaying wonderful intensity, balance and length of flavour.....some reviews below: 2014 Giant Steps Applejack Vineyard (Yarra Valley) Shows a sappy whole-bunch characters that add perfume and complexity to redcurrant, beetroot and rhubarb aromas. The palate is supple, juicy and elegant. Delicious. "This wine is a classic example of the maker's fine, fragrant style"

16.01.2022 Peach, mineral & light youth. A perfect Wednesday drop @kirkswinebar

14.01.2022 Think it must be time to start looking around for some top Australian Reds to top back your cellar after your winter drinks! 2013 Dalwhinnie Moonambel Shiraz - 95 points "Ripe, generous, clean and beautifully turned- out. The bouquet is loaded with chocolate, dried herb and dark fruit aromas; the palate is rich, soft and rounded, full bodied and smoothly textured. A delicious wine!"... 2013 Tenser Albert Shiraz - 93 points "A whopping red; very big, dense and oaky. The cloud is dense red purple-black; the bouquet scented with mocha, rum and raisin chocolate fruitcake. This wine demands patience - so lock away for a while in your cellar "

13.01.2022 Huge Congratulations to Kilikanoon "Kilikanoons Oracle Shiraz has taken home the Trophy for the best Shiraz at this years International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC). Competing against hundreds of entries which were narrowed down to 22 Gold Outstanding medal winners from countries around the globe; including France, Portugal, Australia, South Africa and China, the international Shiraz Trophy was awarded to the 2014 Oracle Shiraz.... The judging panel is comprised of over 400 global experts, with the judging process spanning seven months. Gold Outstanding is awarded to wines demonstrating quality of the highest order. These wines undergo a rigorous two-stage judging process using the double blind method to compete for national, regional and international trophies. Masterfully composed from carefully selected estate-owned Clare Valley vineyards, Managing Director Warrick Duthy said Lightning can strike in the same place three times. It is the third time this prestigious marque has been recognised as the best Shiraz in an international wine show, previously for the 2001 and 2005 vintages. Oracle also appeared in Langtons Classification VII and has twice been selected by Emirates Airlines for First Class. The nose captures the alluring aromas of dark chocolate, exotic spices and French oak char. This is a wine of tremendous concentration, complexity and understated elegance. The palate brims with riper plum fruits, dark chocolate and tar nicely paired with classy French oak and polished tannins that carry over in the mouth well after the wine has been consumed. A wine made for the ages, Chief Winemaker Kevin Mitchell said. 2014 was a cooler and more protracted vintage in the Clare Valley, allowing the Shiraz blocks along the west face of the Golden Hillsides in the Watervale sub-appellation of Clare to ripen more slowly, bringing all parcels to their very optimum levels of maturity, Mitchell said. The 2014 vintage Oracle also received a Platinum Medal and 97 points at Londons Decanter World Wine Awards earlier this year. Kilikanoons 2016 vintages of Morts Reserve Riesling and Killermans Run GSM were also awarded Gold medals by the IWSC international judging panel. This result demonstrates the diversity of Clare Valley terroir as well as Kilikanoons uncompromised commitment to excellence. Kilikanoon has been awarded Australian Winery of the Year four times in the past eight years; by James Halliday in 2013 and Mundus Vini of Germany in 2010, 2017 and 2018."

"The nose has a whiff of musky whole bunch perfume and freshly baked pastry combined with a burst of cherries, poached strawberries and background spice - the fragrance is alluring and exuberant.
