It’s a digital carapace we weave around ourselves in a desperate bid to belong. Every day we post images of our ‘perfect’ lives. Projecting little vignettes of our ideal selves. We pretend to others (and ourselves) that we’re wealthier, busier, happier, slimmer, younger, older, more successful, more popular, more beautiful, more, more, more and in my case less h...airy and it’s all bullshit! Zoom out a bit and it's all just smoke and mirrors, our lives are tiring, chaotic, messy, sometimes boring and often lonely. All of our insecurities are veiled. These Days - Works In Isolation is an online photography exhibition running from October 29 until November 11.... Covid19 has made it necessary for us to spend more of our lives online that ever before. 09.01.2022 . MIKE MASKERY. VIC MASTERS RUGBY. BOX HILL UNQUENCHABLES.... Photographed at AAMI PARK. MELBOURNE. I started playing barefoot as a 5 year old at Ardmore come rain, shine or frost. I stopped playing after school and didn’t get back till I was 40 when I started playing at box hill with the Unquenchables. I played till 55 when the body said no more but I still miss taking the field and being part of the team. I am still involved taking a few photos to catch what is the masters comp. My most memorable moment would have to be watching the ABs play with my dad Jack, it didn't happen very often so those moments are special. Maciu played rugby for 25 years until breaking his neck during a game for Harlequins which left him a quadriplegic. Despite the devastating injury he says he still loves rugby and he enjoyed everything about playing the game. It was pretty special to have the wonderful rugby community rally around me and my family to offer support post injury. Matty says what he loves about Vic Masters rugby is the mateship and the way they come together and support their mates and their charities and their families. 07.01.2022 . IN MY UTE While on location in Nicaragua, for Survivor NZ, I was asked by three local policemen to give them and their broken down dirt bike a ride to the local mechanic. In fact I’m not sure I had much option as they just pulled me over and started loading the bike and themselves into the back of my Hilux. ... Although I didn’t get a picture of the policemen (or the six soldiers, I later picked up from the people trafficking checkpoint, with their AK47’s) it did inspire me to make a portrait of each of the local hitchhikers who waved me down for a lift on my way to and from set each day.
