25.01.2022 Im sharing because there may be those out there that need to know this. Connection, curiosity, cuddles. Who wouldnt want that?

23.01.2022 A thought changing talk I recommend for all, as we all have judgements about addicts. Most of us are addicted to something...shopping, facebook, sugar, chocolate, gambling, sex, the list goes on. What do we trade for connection?

23.01.2022 I think theres some good advice here.

23.01.2022 Dr Brown's making sure I'm taking good care of myself and resting this arvo. How are you spending you Sunday afternoon?

22.01.2022 Healthy fats are good for your body and mind.

21.01.2022 Look around your neighbourhood, you may just find a mosaic. Many have been made by several people working together, helping create a sense of community and welcome. In the summer of 2015, I came across amazing mosaic mural in Nambucca Heads, NSW its an awesome piece that extends for metres, featuring waves and many sea creatures, including an octopus and a crocodile. While walking around Darwins Eplanade in 2017, I came across 2 mosaics. One celebrating Aboriginal w...omen and the other, their Dreamtime. My public mosaic is of our 2 cats. Created in 2018, it now lives on our front wall for all the neighbours to see. 20.01.2022 Its National Eucalypt day, March 23. there are some nice short videos over on the Eucalypt Australia page. Its making me feel the urge to get out of the city, find a river and walk among the river red gums. Until then, Ill be hanging out in my back yard under the gumtrees we have.

20.01.2022 Mosaic is an easy and rewarding thing to do. Almost any solid thing can be made into an image or art piece. I applied mosaic to practical things, like a mirror and to an old picture frame for my home and Ive made a bee bath and table tops for the garden. An example of a difficult mosaic is gluing onto a curved surface. Early on I made the rookie mistake of attempting a sphere. PVA wasnt the right glue for the project. As the tiles kept slipping, I used dressmaking pins to keep them in place until the glue dried. I didnt know about liquid nails then. 19.01.2022 So, something big is happening for me next week. Im feeling nervous and excited at the same time. This week Ive been enjoying Melbournes autumn days and channeling my nervous energy into creating plant art. What do you do when youre nervous & excited at the same time?

19.01.2022 While in Italy in 2012, I stayed for a night in the old town part of Genoa and enjoyed strolling through the streets of stone tile mosaic. I came across The Palazzo Reale and was captivated with its pebble mosaic courtyard. It is in the Risseu style - using black and white pebbles to create images, depicting several animals and scenes from everyday life. From clay tiles in decorative patterns on palace walls, stones or pebbles as pathways or roads, through intricate zellige... designs, embellishing with jewels or used crockery, mosaics have come along way in 5000 years. From the photos below see if you can guess which one is mine ;) Perhaps there is a creative outlet that youve been yearning to explore. 15.01.2022 Sometimes life throws you a curve ball and if you don't make a few calls and get prepared there'll be no hot water for a while. Yep, our hot water unit sprung a leak this week

12.01.2022 Hubby wants Dragon mosaic so weve begun scouring op shops for items that might look good as dragon scales. Ill keep you posted how it turns out. The Nambucca Heads Mosaic mural, I mentioned yesterday, features old white cups as the tips of breaking waves and the Crocdile has its mouth is held open by old saucers. Im so inspired by Carline Jariwala of mango Mosaics. She calls herself an "ethical mosaic artist" as she uses "chipped, rejected, thrown away and second hand c...rockery and cheap tiles, ordinarily destined for landfill. By using these materials, I give a new lease of life and create a much desired object of beauty." Hard rubbish can inspire projects. The butterfly table below was found as a frame, without table tops. Hubby cut cement sheeting, I applied the mosaic and Viola! a beautiful garden table. 11.01.2022 I see this to when I volunteer at my local primary schools garden program. Kids love learning about the food they grow and are much more likely to eat it too.

11.01.2022 Over the past 1 years Ive experimented with a variety of bases for my mosaic: - painted wood - craftwood - marine ply board - cement board... - old picture frame - terracotta pot plant saucer - polystyrene foam sphere On all of these surfaces Ive used the direct method gluing the tiles directly on to the base. After all the glue has set, I apply grout, then polish when dry. Any mosaic that will spend time outdoors, has a grout sealer applied to help avoid mould appearing on the grout or water getting behind the tiles. Theres another direct method I want to explore uses tilers mesh after gluing tiles onto the mesh Ill adhere the design onto a brick wall. For my paving stone project Ill be applying the pieces in reverse - otherwise known as the indirect method. The design is drawn on brown paper and the tiles are lightly glued face down onto the paper. When dry, they will be grouted, dried, turned over, and adhered to the paving stone. Once fixed, the brown paper is soaked off to revel the design - fingers crossed, it will be all level and look lovely in the garden. 10.01.2022 Its been a while since Ive done regular posting here so I thought Id share a bit about what Ive been up to. Alongside setting up my Melbourne clinic Ive been creating a work life balance that works for me. In the school terms on Friday afternoons I head off to a local Neighbourhood Learning Centre and participate in a class. Beginning Monday April 8, for 5 days, I will share a photo of some of my recent creative work, write a bit about it and what Ive been learning as ...I explore the medium. What is Mosaic? What methods are there? Practical & easy mosaics Public art work Having fun recycling Maybe youve been getting creative too. Id love you to share the ways you explore creativity with me or any other things you do that helps you create work/life balance.

06.01.2022 Recently, posts and emails about SELF CARE have been appearing in my feeds. Its something Ive been embracing for a while. Over the past 15 years self care has become an increasing part of my lifestyle. Even so, for a few years now, Ive been experiencing heightened levels of physical discomfort and pain. A few months ago I made a BIG decision to have surgery to take CARE of myself. Some internal growths needed to be removed. They were getting bigger. If left unchecked th...Continue reading
