24.01.2022 Take time out to relax and calm yourself several times each day. Constant output of stress hormones like cortisol will prevent fat release. Take time each day to put your worries down for a while and release stress. Eat natural foods, move your body in any way you enjoy and think relaxing thoughts. Look for the positives in every minute. Be natural like the turtle. Relax and go with the flow. Your healthy body will emerge.

Selenium is is a trace mineral that is essential for the immune function. It is found in oats, seafood, brown rice, wheat germ, brazil nuts, mushrooms and onions, and in some meats. It's as easy as making porridge or muesli, your new breakfast several times a week. You can find recipes for pancakes made using oats and mashed banana rather than white flour. Get creative! Or try to make sure you eat brown rice rather than white rice with meals. Eat more seafood meals each week. 15.01.2022 Zinc is required for optimal function of your immune system. Many unscrupulous practitioners will lead you to believe that you need supplements for zinc to boost your immune function. This is untrue. In fact, if you have too much zinc via supplementation, you can actually reduce your immune function. If you focus on foods to supply zinc, you will optimise your immune function without having to be concerned at all with over doing it. A deficiency of zinc is associated with ...slow healing of wounds. The foods highest in zinc are: seafood (particularly oysters). However, I would be hesitant at this time with COVID-19, to buy any foods that you don't intend to cook that are open to be sneezed or coughed on like an oyster. Meat, poultry, eggs, milk, cheese, beans, nuts and wholegrains, are all excellent sources of zinc. You can't overdo it with foods, so feel free to eat as many of these foods as you enjoy. The immune system protects us from attacks from our external environments e.g. invading viruses, bacteria, fungi. It also helps us deal with attacks such as cancer cells from our internal environment. The immune system also provides repair of tissues that have been damaged. Food is medicine and you can help protect and heal yourself by eating natural, unrefined foods at this time of COVID-19. Avoid refined carbohydrates and white flour and sugar as these will lead to fat gain, and excess fat will release inflammatory agents into your system. 09.01.2022 Bean, Spinach and Cheese Quesadillas Take a flour tortilla Spread half of the tortilla with canned refried bean dip or, more deliciously make your own favourite home made spicy bean sauce Sprinkle with shredded cheese Place baby spinach on top ... Fold in half and place in a fry pan (without oil) and toast for 3-4 minutes on each side, on a low heat until crispy and until the cheese melts Enjoy. 09.01.2022 Vitamin D is essential for a healthy immune system and also for healthy bones and teeth. Our body makes Vitamin D when the body is exposed to sunlight. If you cant access sunlight its best to focus on foods that supply vitamin D. Some people who have religions that prevent sun exposure or who live in situations where it is not possible to expose their bodies to regular sunlight, may need to take a multivitamin each day that provides 400IU /day of Vitamin D. Those over age 70 with little or no sun exposure will required 600 IU/day. Because Vitamin D is fat soluble it is absorbed more efficiently if taken with meals. Food sources include butter, fatty fish such as salmon, pilchards, anchovies, sardines, egg yolks, and fish-liver oils.

03.01.2022 Its fun to cook when things are difficult outside at this time across the world, and you have to spend time inside. Cooking is fun and a good way to fuel your body with nutrient rich ingredients. Choose 80% vegetables (fresh where possible and frozen as an alternative), and some lean protein. Try to eat less carbohydrates if you are moving less than usual to avoid gaining unwanted fat. Take a one hour walk each day to support immune function and to support mental health. Stay at home to reduce possibility of contact with Coronavirus.
