25.01.2022 Today is R U OK? day. This is a day that we ask "R U OK" to our friends, colleagues, parents, relatives and the parents/carers of the children in our care. This simple question could change someone's life and as a result a series of events afterwards- a bit like the movie 'Sliding doors'. So today and every other day, when you see a mother/father or carer drop off a child or pick up a child and they seem a bit flustered, sad, stressed, anxious, or just different to their normal demeanour remember to ask "R U OK?" or say a simple 'hello'. This one sentence could start a conversation that sets off a chain of events. Don't forget though if you do ask this question- 'be prepared to listen'. 24.01.2022 A message from our CEO, Michael Pecic, in response to the current Coronavirus (COVID 19) situation in Australia as it relates to training. In Safe Hands is committed to working with our clients in continuing to provide required training for Educators to ensure services maintain their accreditation during this uncertain time in our community. We are in constant contact with the Industry Peak bodies to ensure we are providing the sector with up to date and current safe practi...ces around the delivery of training. At this current time there are no Medical, Government or Peak Body concerns surrounding small group training in the Early Years Sector of staff. In Safe Hands is committed to continue to provide in service training to our clients until this advice changes. None of our trainers have been overseas in the past 28 days and WILL NOT be presenting if they show any effects of the flu or like symptoms. We understand some services are being provided internal processes from management around limitation of face to face training. If this is the case, remember that your Duty of Care to provide a practice which meets industry requirements still exists. In Safe Hands can work with you to provide your Educators training online or via live webinars to ensure standards are maintained. Please do not hesitate to contact us and one of our fantastic staff will assist you in arranging training or help you with any of the concerns you may have surrounding these issues.

23.01.2022 Sexual extortion is a serious form of online blackmail where an offender threatens to reveal a persons personal sexual images, unless they give into their dema...nds. Offenders can manipulate a young person making them feel there is no way out of the situation, including threatening to share their content online with family, friends and acquaintances. It is important for young people to know that it is never too late to seek help, and that they are not to blame for the situation they are in. 20.01.2022 NOW MORE THAN EVER Educators need to make sure that they are current with their Child Protection training!!! History and current research data indicates that in times of crisis instances of Child Abuse increase dramatically. The current global pandemic as a result of COVID-19 is having some devastating effects on people, businesses, support services and life in general. These effects can also be cumulative which of itself can rapidly escalate concerns. One of these concerns ...is an increase in the risk of child abuse and actual cases of child abuse. Social isolation, social distancing measures, panic buying, reduced essential services and shut down of non-essential services are already having impacts on the community in general. One of the biggest concerns of the impact of the COVID-19 is not the virus itself but the stressors that accompany it. An increase in peoples stress levels leads to an increase in poor decision-making and rational thought processes being thrown out the window. As a result, our most vulnerable people which include our children and the elderly are impacted. This is why Educators need essential child protection training! We need our professionals to not only understand their lawful requirements but it also imperative Educators remain vigilant at recognising the signs and indicators of child abuse. Remember that child abuse can be Physical, it can be Emotional and Psychological, it can be Neglect or it can be Sexual. Disturbingly it is not just a singular harm type, but is more often than not, a combination of those harm types that impact children. Our online and webinar child protection training is the perfect learning environment for Educators during this volatile time, so that they do not have to train in groups. Contact our team at In Safe Hands Educators In Safety on 1300 794 644 or email us at [email protected] to receive information on our special packages available.

20.01.2022 Please be advised that due to Brisbane being in a three day Covid lockdown, our office will be closed on Monday 11th January 2021 and therefore we are unable to take phone calls on our 1300 794 644 number.
