09.01.2022 Spring is here Ready? Are you looking for a few ideas to revitalise your BnB? Or looking to offer a BnB? Going back to basics is always the best way. What is the experience you would like to offer? I’d love to work with you to make it what you would like it to be! As a way to begin, consider a plan with these concepts.... List the essentials What is required for your guests, what are the key items you are required to offer and what are the extra elements you would like to offer? Evaluate the space Is the area large and would you like to offer a cosier feel, more zones within or create a pause so that the eye ‘rests’? Is the area small would you like to give the illusion of space? Decide - the colour palette Colour is a fantastic way of achieving an impression: A couple of ideas to make it appear larger would be to use one colour palette throughout, this will give the illusion of space. This could be the same colour with different ‘strengths’ or you could have a textured wall to differentiate between areas. Alternatively, if you have a large area, you could define a space with a deeper richer colour or painted partial walls. #Wattylcolourforecast2021. Create zones Definition within the space, your furniture placement is a great way of identifying areas to show the purpose. Consider what needs to be functional, what needs to be welcoming & comfortable. Are you making use of all the space? Overlay with furnishings This is to create the atmosphere and experience you would like to offer your guests. This sets the tone for the whole area. Adding texture, layers, décor items and styling these all together will create the ambience that is vital to a cohesive ‘look’. Top tips Always have a focal point Use what you have, recycle, up-style then look at what you need to add, what’s missing? It doesn’t have to be new to be great! Your styling items can be seasonal, if your main palette is neutral it is cost effective to change the décor items to change the look & feel. 09.01.2022 Yes I do love a cushion or 10! Cushion Infatuation # 1 Let your style dictate your cushions. If you have a traditional theme, opt for an even number of cushions with one large one at each end and a smaller one in front of it. ... If you have a more casual, contemporary or eclectic vibe, incorporate an uneven number and or none that are matching. Words & Pic Naomi Findlay

09.01.2022 Mix it up Cushion Infatuation # 5 Have a few variations for different seasons... Want a more relaxing feel in winter when your lounging around the house? But don't want to give up some of your favourite cushions all year round. Add some punches & pops of colour & pattern during the warmer seasons - then you can put out your more muted palettes (or these jewelled colours) when you make the switch in winter or vis versa!... 04.01.2022 Dreaming of cushions Cushion Infatuation # 2 Identify your colour Have a look around your living space. Look at walls, carpet, lounge & curtains - what colours are present? Keep this close when you choose your scatter cushions - opt for one or two solid colours, then add ones with different texture & patterns. And of course grab a throw or two!...
