My equipment is sterilised after each client and safe distancing and the option of outdoor sessions are also provided, but please stay home if you are unwell. Im here to discuss any concerns you may have and can tailor a home workout to suit you if you feel more comfortable training at home. 23.01.2022 Lets talk sleep How many hours do you sleep at night? Do you have broken sleep or suffer from insomnia? Are you taking medicine to assist sleep? Are you going through menopause?... There are many reasons your sleep could be compromised; diet, environment or stress. I always ask my clients how they are sleeping, it is a huge indicator of performance, recovery, diet and lifestyle. So much of your recovery from a workout is during the sleep restoration phase so it is essential in supporting muscle recovery and growth not to mention the positives around mental health. Some tips I give my clients to help them sleep better Ensure adequate nutrition throughout the day, particularly sugar! 20.01.2022 Over exercise and under eating. There was a time when I would run 10km in the morning and weight train twice a day all while fuelling my body with minimum food and no carbohydrates. I remember having a conversation with my great friend Emma ( @thenutritioncoach ) about my training and nutrition. She asked me how I felt. I honestly felt good. She then suggested that the reason I felt good was because my body was running on adrenaline, the hormone released to prepare our body f...or the ‘fight or flight’ response in times of stress. At the time I thought surely you couldn’t exercise too much and the only way to achieve a lean body was to eat as little as possible. Soon after this I started to really burn out. I lost my period and libido, couldn’t get any stronger, was having epic binges on the weekend and was looking and feeling exhausted. All areas of my life were affected. Now I know how important it is to minimise stress and that the best results are seen by people who take a healthy approach to exercise and nutrition. I know that recovery is as important as the work you put in at the gym and that our bodies need good fuel to power them to be well and strong. Now I strength train 4x per week and follow a specific program. I walk daily to keep up with my podcasts and to exercise my Gussy boy I eat heaps, majority of it carbs. I feel unstoppable. My advice to you would be to stop running yourself into the ground. With school starting back soon and our lives going back to some kind of normality I thought this series would be a great way for you to get your body moving and ready for the day and week ahead. My Morning Motivation Series is a 20 minute mobility and strength based session, for all abilities, using items within your home and is free of charge. 14.01.2022 Small changes for positive and lasting results. You may have heard me talk about non-negotiables. These are actions I take in my day to day or week to week routine that are non negotiable. I try to make them happen no matter what. Huge lifestyle changes are daunting and 9 times out of 10 don’t work. Set yourself some small changes in your daily routine to create lasting results. Be realistic, set changes that are achievable most of the time, and be careful not to talk yoursel...f out of them. In time you will do things automatically and they will have a lasting and positive effect on your health. 09.01.2022 How do you measure your progress? Do you set specific goals? What are your goals? The answer to these questions are different for everyone and there is no right or wrong answer. Some subjective measures I like to use with my clients focus more around how they are feeling. It is my honest belief that if you concentrate on how your body functions and feels the aesthetic goals that most people desire will come as a result. Positive choices towards nutrition, training, love and... leisure should leave you feeling clear minded, warm, focussed and happy most of the time. 08.01.2022 Pumpkin and Bacon Fritatta 1KG BUTTERNUT PUMPKIN (SQUASH), PEELED AND CHOPPED 300G NITRATE FREE BACON 2 TABLESPOONS COCONUT OIL... SEA SALT AND CRACKED BLACK PEPPER 150G SOFT GOATS CHEESE, CRUMBLED CUP (95G) CARAMELISED ONION 8 EGGS 1 CUP (250ML) SINGLE (POURING)CREAM METHOD 1. Preheat oven to 220C (425F). Place the pumpkin and bacon in a 30cm heavy-based shallow pan or baking dish, drizzle with oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. 2. Cook for 20 minutes or until the pumpkin is light golden and just tender. Remove the pan from the oven and reduce oven temperature to 200C (400F). 3. Add goats cheese and caramelised onion to the pan and mix gently. Place the eggs, cream, salt and pepper in a bowl and whisk to combine. 4. I remember a time not that long ago when I would choose a snack by heading straight to the nutrition table on the back of the package and looking for how many calories it had and what the carbohydrate value was. Often snacks that boast low fat or low sugar are full of crap ingredients, damaging oils and preservatives. Now, I can proudly say I couldn’t tell you what nutritional value these snacks have and only that they contain ingredients that are... nourishing and natural! I don’t always have my shit together enough to have homemade treats at the ready. Not only do these products provide a solution for when we are busy and unprepared but they are great lunchbox ideas for the kids too, with no hidden nasties in the ingredients list. It’s easy to decide if the foods you are buying are nourishing or not, just have a look at the comparisons I have made here. Almost identical products with very different ingredients. 05.01.2022 Instant gratification. In a society that is forever seeking instant gratification we can easily have unrealistic expectations when it comes to our fitness journey. In my opinion, the quest for fitness has no destination. It requires positive choices everyday for the rest of our lives. There are no quick fixes, it takes hard work and consistency with our training and nutrition. A lot of you will have been investing in quick fix programs for most of your lives but still are no...t where you want to be in your body and health. So rather than investing in pills, potions and programs that promise fast and effective results invest in the long game. Get yourself a specific training program dedicated to your specific goals. Eat plenty of food that is nourishing and delicious and will support your performance. Strength train to build the body you want.
