23.01.2022 With this bedroom makeover, I've tried to keep you in the loop, stage by stage. But it dawned on me that I haven't shown you the entire picture. You see, with any renovation you'll encounter lots of scenarios that can usually be placed in three categories - The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. With this particular makeover, the good news is that the second coat is down and it's definitely coming together. The bad news is that it needs one more coat. And the ugly? Well this is wher...e you might need to look away if you scare easily. Please refer to exhibit B - the photo of the hallway with an entire room's worth of crap that's been accumulated over the years. Why do we do that??? Back to the good news though - this has sparked a long overdue decluttering process and most of this will go. The bad news is that I have to break the news to Missy Moo, who'll no doubt want to keep everything. And the ugly? Hubby's reaction when I tell him he needs to lug that stuff out of the house. 19.01.2022 How many blokes does it take to install some Makenge baskets? As many as I could muster! After a little break, we were back at the Kingsgrove project (remember the poppy light?!) finishing off a wall installation of these African beauties. And let me tell you, these blokes were absolutely THRILLED to be standing there holding up baskets as I instructed them to "move that one over ever so slightly to the right, no, your other right, now a bit to the left, up a touch, that's too much, can you just hold that for a sec longer, ok let's go back to where we had them at the start". THRILLED I tell you!! Check out that body language! And yes, that's a measuring tape up the backside of one of them. Pretty sure I didn't instruct them to do that! Christina Anasta

18.01.2022 So, after 2 looong painstaking days and nights, the walls in Missy Moo's bedroom are now officially white! For someone who loves colour, it's a little unnerving and it does expose the room a little. You can hide somewhat behind colour but white walls really are a blank canvas. I absolutely love dark walls and have them in many parts throughout my house. However, I must say the white walls are refreshing and calming and I can't wait to layer the room with different textures to... give it the personality it needs. Next step is to paint those floors white. I've painted one corner where the wardrobe sits and I must say, I'm loving them a little. It's amazing how a bit of paint can completely transform a space. It's cheap and only requires a little elbow grease. If you can, get someone in to do it for you. I always do when there are ceilings and trims involved. Ok, that's probably enough procrastinating for now. I'm off to paint me some floors. I'll see you on the other side! Christina Anasta #christinaanastadesign See more

18.01.2022 So the inevitable just happened. I ran out of floor paint at 8.48pm and of course Bunnings closes at 8pm! So I stretched that paint out as far as I could and managed (just) to get a first coat down. Don't want to spoil the final reveal but I wanted to show you the transformation already, even with that pathetic first coating of paint. I knew those red floors just had to go but I was also worried that I was potentially destroying perfectly good timber. There were also lots of naysayers trying to talk me out of it. But I can now safely say this is the best decision I've made. Already, that space has a sense of calm and serenity. It's deliciously inviting and I can't wait to see it all come together. Sometimes it pays to go with your gut. Christina Anasta #christinaanastadesign

18.01.2022 Well hello there Scoopers!!! It's been a little while between posts but I just had to share a project I'm currently working on. Occasionally, my work allows me to undertake some fun projects a little out of the norm and this was definitely one of them. This is a corporate foyer in North Sydney and part of the brief was to create a fabulously dramatic faux plant vertical garden wall. Nothing beats the real thing but when you just can't maintain it, great quality fauxs can be j...ust as fabulous. The whole area is getting a revamp but it's starting to come together quite nicely. And yes, a fair shiteload of plants were required for this monster, measuring about 2.5m x 2.5m. I wouldn't mind seeing this every day at work! #verticalgarden #greenwall Christina Anasta Design @christinaanasta

18.01.2022 Scoopers! Oh I have neglected you of late and I do apologize. It's been a little crazy silly busy from all directions the last few months and it doesn't seem to be easing off any time soon before Christmas. Thought I'd touch base by showing you another little scheme I'm working on this week. Just put one to bed earlier in the week, and I'm now working on this little gem. This is a formal sitting room where adults will gather for pre or post dinner drinky winks and discuss pol...itics and world peace and such topics. And in an age where open plan living has taken over the world, I actually quite love the idea of a separate room where adults can retreat to and sip martinis and speak freely away from the kids. The palette was inspired by a much-loved handmade lamp that will take pride of place against moody dark grey walls, an existing fireplace with floor to ceiling shelving, sheer linen curtains that puddle magnificently on the floor and a piano! Still a way to go, but thought I'd give you sneak peak of how it's coming together so far. See more

16.01.2022 Hey Scoopers!! I'm very excited to finally announce the launch of my new homewares and event styling range, The Raw Collection. The idea behind the collection is to use beautiful textiles and textures to create unique, raw and edgy pieces for the home or as styling pieces for special events. It can be a bit of a struggle to find beautiful, organic and one-of-a-kind pieces for styling projects and people's homes, which has led to the development of this exciting new range. The... collection is in its early stages (you're getting a sneak peak), but head on over to the Facebook page at www.facebook.com/therawcollection and click "like" to get regular updates and see the growing range. Custom orders are also welcome. And if you're extra awesome, you'll even the SHARE the page with your friends. Go on, get them on board. Website coming soon, but in the meantime you can order or purchase from the fb page or on Instagram @the_raw_collection. Cxx See more

15.01.2022 Spring is here and that usually means I start tackling some of my own home renos that I've been dreaming up over the colder months. This season, my walls and floors are going to get a good ol' whooping. My hallway has been a dark, moody space with heavy striped wallpaper for the last 6 years or so. I've loved it ... but it's now time to move on. BUT!!!!! I'm too lazy to get rid of the existing wallpaper and it's in such great condition, it seems criminal to undo all that ef...fort and expense in getting it installed in the first place. It also has a lovely texture I'd like to keep. Solution? Paint straight over it! Normally, with stock standard conventional paints this would be a major no-no. They simply wouldn't stick properly and could cause the wallpaper to lift. But I'm using Chalk Paint by UK paint brand Annie Sloan. This stuff sticks to just about anything - metal, plastic, timber (even varnished!) terracotta - you name it! And the best part - you don't need to do ANY prepping. That's right - no sanding required! Just a quick clean and off you go. It's great for painting floors without having to sand back the varnish so I'll also be using it to whiten all the floorboards. Remember that bedroom makeover last year with the newly painted white floors? See attached pic. Well, more of that! But back to the hallway. I've been searching for just the perfect nude blush colour to lift the space, without it looking like a baby girl's room. I knew exactly what I wanted but just couldn't find the colour in any of the commercially sold paints. So what's a gal to do? I grabbed some sample pots and started creating my own custom colour. And here it is! What do you think? I love its subtlety and that lovely chalky finish. I'm calling it "foundation pink". Your verdict?? I'll be keeping you in the loop with this makeover so keep an eye out for progress posts. Anyone else embarking on some long overdue revamping around the house?

09.01.2022 Hey Scoopers! It's been a little while and apologies for going MIA. Missing ya'll terribly. I'll be posting later on tonight about a little shopping trip I had last night. In the meantime, check out these beauties. So it's no secret that I love plants - my house looks like a jungle and I'm always recommending greenery in clients' homes. Flowers are also a great way to add a pop of color and life into your interiors. But they don't need to cost the earth. This is most definite...ly not a sponsored ad, but can you believe this entire bunch of roses (3 bunches combined, to be exact) cost less than $10 ($3.24 each) from Aldi, of all places!! That's 30 roses! Whaaaaat! I don't normally shop there and I certainly didn't go in looking for flowers, but I just couldn't walk out without them. Sometimes it's the little things, like gorgeous fresh flowers, to give your interiors - and your mood - that little lift it needs. See more

02.01.2022 They say change is as good as a holiday. Why, then, do so many people stick with the same tired look in their homes for far longer than they'd like or should? Most people I know complain about their homes, yearning for different coloured walls, furniture, accessories. They complain but do nothing about it. In their minds, they should get the longest time possible out of the last makeover they did, even though they've completely tired of that look. They've fallen out of love w...Continue reading
