23.01.2022 With every passing day, fears continue to grow for these precious little Australians...

20.01.2022 In what was a heart-felt gift of generosity from Celeste Barber and the wider community (globally) during Australias unprecedented bushfire disaster, now the challenge for Celeste is to ensure that the funds raised from her appeal are directed to those the appeal aimed to assist. No one could have anticipated a campaign to raise a modest $30K (least of all Celeste Barber) would inspire an unbridled outpouring of compassion from donors of the belief that the funds raised wou...ld be directed to those most impacted by this tragedy. And while the result of generating a massive $51Million to help the communities and organisations most affected (including the NSW RFS) was in itself unprecedented, the reality is that people opened their hearts and their wallets to help rebuild homes and regenerate decimated communities and environments. Its now been more than 6 months since the fires destroyed so many communities and while the RFS has already spent around $20Million to support their services (funds that would not have been raised without Celeste Barbers public appeal), there are too many habitats destroyed and too many families still living in dire circumstances without homes and incomes those that many donors genuinely wanted to help. Its an overflowing pot of money that could genuinely help many in addition to the RFS. Lets hope that the bill in NSW Parliament is able to amend the RFS Act to allow the funds raised to be shared (as was intended by Celeste and the donors) among bushfire-affected communities and individuals shattered by this disaster. 18.01.2022 Today is both World Mental Health Day and World Homelessness Day. The fact that these two global awareness events fall on the same day is fitting given that both mental health and social issues are very much closely aligned. In the wake of the devastating closure of the high-profile charity White Ribbon, as Australia braces for a tsunami of homeless women, the future for the health, safety, wellbeing and financial security of Australian women seems devastatingly bleak But, we must not look away. Today is the day we are reminded that as a society we must commit to finding solutions to address mental health, homelessness and violence against women at all costs.

17.01.2022 Long after the coronavirus crisis has passed, asbestos-containing materials will remain in our homes, workplaces and properties so its vital that people remain vigilant in learning how to manage asbestos safely!

10.01.2022 Thninking of all those affected by our national bushfire tragedy....

10.01.2022 Today we learned of the tragic and unexpected passing of man I deeply admired, Dr Dan Murphy. Dr Dan (as he was affectionately known by his patients) dedicated his life to providing free essential healthcare at his Bairo Pite Clinic in Dili Timore Leste for so many people in need. Dr Dan was a giant of a man in every respect and was nothing short of a hero in our eyes and in the eyes of the people of Timor Leste and the many healthcare professionals from around the globe who answered his calls for help. What greater legacy can one leave behind than to have selflessly dedicated ones life to the service of humankind. RIP Dr Dan Murphy. You will be greatly missed and long remembered by all those who had the honour to work with you and know you. #VivaDrDan #VivaTimorLeste

10.01.2022 Within the charity and NFP sector, public scrutiny and accountability are as critical as transparency. With the aim of building greater public confidence in the sector; when conducting investigations into serious charity breaches, the ACNC now has greater powers allowing them to publicly scrutinise organisations and directors ensuing accountability while serving as a meaningful deterrent to those who would abuse their positions of trust. Good decision!

08.01.2022 We will never give up on William!

08.01.2022 When news of a defamation lawsuit becomes public knowledge, not only are reputations at risk, legal costs and substantial compensation can be awarded to the plaintiff. The cure for this is simple. People, (particularly trolls) must understand that publishing defamatory comments online including via social media platforms qualifies as publishing as definitively as if theyd taken out a front page advertorial in an international printed publication.

06.01.2022 Insight was there for another magical Red Carpet and opening night event! KURIOS by Cirque du Soleil at Sydneys The Entertainment Quarter is simply brilliant! Not to be missed! Book now! http://bit.ly/2UDqjhD

05.01.2022 Long after a vaccine for Covid 19 has been developed, sadly Australians will continue to die from asbestos-related diseases. Vigilance in the prevention of exposure to asbestos fibres to save lives remains imperative as does a significant investment in medical research.

04.01.2022 October 21-26 is Charity Fraud Awareness Week, an international initiative designed to raise awareness and help prevent fraud in the charity sector. The Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC) is supporting and promoting Charity Fraud Awareness Week 2019 and encouraging the community to report any concerns you may have to the ACNC. On average, the ACNC receives 160 concerns about charities each month. The most common areas of charity non-compliance are: 1. ...Private benefit for charitys responsible persons 2. Duties of responsible persons, particularly poor financial management 3. Fraudulent or criminal activity https://www.acnc.gov.au//charities-must-protect-themselves

02.01.2022 10 years ago today Insight received our first National peer reviewed awards at the PRIA Golden Target Awards for our 2010 Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month - 11th Hour Campaign and our pro bono ‘A Gift Like Nun Other’ campaign for a group of physiotherapist nuns in Timor Leste. Since then Insight have continued to produce multi-award-winning campaigns at State, National and International levels receiving three coveted international awards including two AMEC Awards and a Comm Prix Award at the 2014 World PR Forum. The 15 industry awards acknowledge the insight our campaigns have in delivering results for our clients.

02.01.2022 At Insight we pride ourselves on developing and delivering effective integrated communication campaigns that shine a spotlight on brands and issues that matter. As part of The Ecology of Public Communication Panel, twice annually we have the honour of sharing our knowledge with communication students of the University of Technology, Sydney lecturing on effective Public Relations, Advertising and Marketing for the NFP and Government sectors. However, in 2020 due to Covid-19, in...stead of lecturing to a packed auditorium of 400 plus students, were delighted to present our lecture online in far greater detail to challenge and inspire the UTS professional communicators of tomorrow. Clare Collins and Alice Collins model outstanding professional practice in their work for the not-for-profit and government sectors. They have contributed to student learning at UTS as guest lecturers in the subject that lays the foundation for public communication students to learn about the contexts for practice. Their ethical professional approach to their work, the compassion and dedication they express, and their drive to use public relations to make the world a better place are all evident for the students to see and learn. Their lectures are clear, frank and engaging. They tell it like it is in a way that inspires and teaches students. They are thorough and keep to brief, able to pitch what they say to the students understanding. As well as lecturing to our students, Clare and Alice have mentored individual students as interns at Insight Communications. They are impressive UTS alumni and we are honoured to have their continuing participation in the education of upcoming professionals.
