07.01.2022 Good morning. I used to employ cheat meals with many of my clients. ... The premise was simple: you could have one meal per week where you ate anything you wanted, but once it was done you had to throw everything out (nothing in the fridge or pantry). It worked well for some people, but it also required diligent food intake throughout the rest of the week. Then I started incorporating flexibility in the plans, allowing smaller treats more often, to help with adherence. This worked well for people who wanted something smaller, more frequently. The next evolution was assigning nothing at all, not that it can never be consumed. Instead, we have a set plan and then a licence to over consume whenever. Then we see what and why, and go from there. This works well for some people, but requires honesty and accountability when you do overconsume. Different approaches work for different people, hence the benefits of personalisation (based on trial and error), and the reason one-size-fits-all approaches rarely work. Finding the right approach helps foster adherence, which is vital to getting results. I remember a lesson about cheat meals that Phil Learney mentioned... If you give a client a meal plan, and the first thing they ask is ‘when’s my cheat meal’, the plan is too hard they are unlikely to adhere. Keep that in mind, before you consider a program that preaches 1200 kcal per day diet and 45-minutes of high-intensity exercise. It will work, if you stick to it. But will you? Maybe, maybe not. The alternative is a more progressive approach that tries to work out what suits you best. It takes more time, but if you are sticking to a system long enough for it to 'take time', it's working.

05.01.2022 Good morning. I want you to watch this video. ... This is Jocko Willink, former US Navy SEAL turned leadership consultant, and writer of my favourite book, Extreme Ownership (if you head to Audible and sign up you can download it for free). Granted, Jocko is a bit hard core and certainly not everyone’s cup of tea, but I think his message is great. But I won’t even explain my point of view, just yet, and potentially bias your opinion. What are your thoughts on his message: "good"? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IdTMDpizis8
