One minute we are bringing in the new year looking forward to what 2020 has to offer; the next we are in isolation restricted from what we can do and those that we love.... 22.01.2022 Anyone else wondering what has happened to the world we once knew? Coronavirus continues to spread, anti racism protesting, people defying the rules all to get there 15 minutes of fame... and the list goes on... This definitely wasnt the year we all had planned and to be honest who would of thought anything like this was possible, let alone happen. ... Waking up each day fearing the news and the latest updates, fears of what the future holds, scared for our jobs. Its perfectly understandable to be feeling extremely anxious or stressed right now. The hard part is, unfortunately we can not control whats going to happen from here but we can be considerate of ourselves and others during these troubling times. A few things to keep in mind: - If there was ever a time to reach out and ask for help, it would be now. This has been a very mentally draining and scary year for all of us. Dont waste more of the year away by spending each day in stress and fear. Reach out and ask for help. Its ok to not be ok right now. There are places like ourselves and other amazing practitioners who are trained to help you through such times. Dont be afraid to reach out. It doesnt mean there is anything wrong with you, it just means you are strong enough to know when to ask for help. - Remember, the more that we stress, the more stress we create on those around us. The more stress around us, the more it affects our immune system. The more our immune system is affected, the more chance we have of catching the virus. - Keep yourself and your loved ones safe by obeying the necessary rules. Remember, this is not forever, its just for right now. The more we can sacrifice a few outings or time with family and friends now, the quicker we will get our lives back to the way they were. - Keep in mind that you cannot control others but you can control your actions. If each of us take accountability for our own actions and make sure we are doing the right thing, the better it will be for all of us in the long run. - Always remember that your actions can affect others. If you decide to disobey the rules youre not only putting yourself in danger but youre putting everyone else at risk including peoples grandparents and children - The rules may be unpleasant or frustrating but they are there to help us not hurt us. It may not seem like we can control much right now but our own actions can either help ourselves and others or harm them. Create the change you wish to see in this world. 21.01.2022 Its nearly that amazing time of the year where its acceptable to eat chocolate for breakfast Happy Easter everyone from all of us here at Integrated Wellness Group. I understand a lot of us may be feeling disappointed right now. I know we cant spend Easter the way we usually would due to the isolation rules. Its understandable to feel a bit flat and not as excited as we usually would be. Try not to let this dampen your spirit. 20.01.2022 Feeling the good and the bad How many of us can be honest in saying that we dont like bad feelings like fear, anger, sadness, pain. How many of us can admit that its easier to suppress these feelings and emotions rather than endure the pain of working through them? Its natural for most of us to spend so much of our time and energy trying to avoid certain feelings that are too uncomfortable to feel. When you think about it, we actually believe in our heads that we are sup...pressing the bad, uncomfortable feelings only and still have the ability to feel the good feelings like happiness, joy and love. However, let me ask you this do you really think it is possible to only feel one set of feelings and not the other? Is it possible to only feel good and not the bad? Could you actually be suppressing your feelings all together? Could you potentially be shutting off your feelings and only experiencing a version of happiness which you believe represents what is meant to be happiness, love, joy? Lets be real for a second. Feelings like sadness, fear, uncertainty, pain... are tough. We are wired to protect ourselves from pain so not many people allow themselves to feel these types of emotions. We think we are saving ourselves from heartache, from the discomfort of feeling uncomfortable in our own skin. We find it safe to push these feelings down avoiding them at all costs. Which is all well and good but what if I was to tell you that by doing this your stopping yourself from feeling happiness, joy, love... all in its true form. Your version of these good emotions such as happiness and love, you may think you feel them now but if you are programming yourself to not feel and numb the pain, arent you numbing the these good feelings too? The brain cannot be wired to only not feel selected feelings and emotions. Its quite simple, it can be wired to feel or not feel. Heres what we do know: - its a virus - its contagious ... - we dont know whats going to happen - we cant control the outcome Yes we can go into further detail on the above facts and yes we can have different opinions based on hearsay. Although these are still facts. Theres currently a virus going around thats contagious and we dont know whats going to happen and we cant control it. Heres what we can control... ourselves, our behaviour, our mindset, our stress levels, our anxiety levels... Its ok to be scared right now and its ok to be anxious about whats going to happen. The problem is the more that we stress, the more stress we create on those around us. The more stress around us, the more it affects our immune system. The more our immune system is affected, the more chance we have of catching the virus. The main thing we can control right now is ourselves and how we choose to react to the current situation. The best thing we can do is focus on ourselves. Take the necessary precautions that have been advised and also keep in mind that your mindset is another precaution you can take. 09.01.2022 The biggest thing we’ve found recently is that so many people have forgotten about their own needs. They’re so busy being reactive to their current circumstances that they’re no longer prioritising themselves. They’re prioritising everyone and everything else instead. 07.01.2022 Rest, recovery and recharge time should be a priority on your to do list! We tend to neglect ourselves and our bodies by not allowing enough, or any, time to rest and recharge. Its not a priority on our to do list or we look at it as time wasting or being lazy ... This can actually cause us more damage than good. Whether we are pushing ourselves physically, have a lot stress and anxiety in our lives, or have a busy schedule. We should be prioritising rest, recovery and recharge times. We can only push ourselves so far before our body starts to react. If we are pushing ourselves physically, we need to make sure we are taking enough time to rest our body. Otherwise we can cause injuries by pushing ourselves too hard. Living a busy lifestyle or if you have a lot of stress and anxiety in your life right now, the best thing you can do for yourself is rest. Take some time out each day to switch off and do nothing. You are not wasting time or being lazy, you are simply giving yourself what you need. 06.01.2022 There has definitely been an improvement in how mental wellness is prioritised this year. In previous years we have seen people ignore their mental health due to the stigma around working on yourself mentally. For many years it has been seen as weak or that you were sick, diseased, or broken if you were to ask for help.... With all the changes we have encountered in our lives this year, the biggest thing we have learnt is how important our mental wellness is in our daily lives. Asking for help is no longer seen as a form of weakness, it is now a form of strength. People understand that any form of current stress, anxiety, depression, or unhappiness is something that can pass with some help. It is no longer a life sentence that has to be lived alone and in silence. A lot of people this year are respecting themselves enough to reach out and ask for help, making themselves a priority. Lets face it, life is full of ups and downs but what people dont know, is its those down moments that actually give us the most. This moments are the ones that lead to greatness. Most people spend a lot of there time avoiding the downs, avoiding the truth of how theyre actually feeling. Theyre scared to admit theyre not ok and scared of the feelings they will feel when theyre honest with themselves. ... We can all admit that pain, fear, heartache, sadness, loneliness, unhappiness... and the list goes on.. are not the funnest feelings in the world. But its from these moments, the moments when we are most vulnerable, that some of our best moments come from.
