25.01.2022 Have you ever wondered if your skincare products are harming your health? We all want to look beautiful and to have a healthy and glowing skin but what if your skincare ritual is full of harmful chemicals? What if those chemicals could be compromising your health?... Did you know that up to 60% of what we put on our skin gets absorbed? And when those chemicals reach your bloodstream, they may contribute to health issues such as allergies, eczema, cancer, endocrine (hormonal) disruption, and reproductive problems. And it is not just about us humans, these ingredients are also bioaccumulative and ecotoxic, harmful to our air, land and waterways. Some are listed as carcinogens even to animals. To help you avoid using these ingredients, keep an eye on beauty products like skincare, shampoos, conditioners, body washes, make-up, etc. and DO NOT BUY them if they contain: 1 - Aluminium Commonly found in antiperspirant deodorants, this toxic metal can have oestrogen-like effects, which can increase your risk of breast-cancer and reproductive system problems such as PMS and fibroids 2 - Mineral oil Usually found in creams, lotions, body oils, conditioners and make-up, this petroleum by-product coats the skin and blocks its pores, impairing the skins ability to eliminate toxins. This can increase acne and other skin disorders 3 - Methyl, Butyl, Ethyl, Propyl parabens Widely used in most skincare products as preservatives, which are harmful to the beneficial bacteria in our skin and digestive system. Parabens have also been linked to hormone imbalances. 4 - SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) & SLES (sodium laureth sulfate) and other PEG compounds (chemicals that include the clauses xynol, ceteareth and oleth) These are foaming agents found in about 90% of personal-care products. When mixed with other chemicals, they create 1,4-dioxane, a contaminant which readily penetrates the skin and is considered a probable human carcinogen by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. 5 - Triclosan Usually found in soaps, mouthwash, shaving cream, deodorants, toothpastes, this antibacterial agent may disrupt your thyroid function. It can also turn into dioxin which is linked to endocrine disruption and cancer. Luckily, today there are many ethical brands creating amazing beauty products that are safe, healthy and effective for you and for our Planet! Natural skincare nourishes your skin with rich plant oils, vitamins and skin-healing botanicals. Your skin will look and feel healthy, and it will naturally glow. So, never put in your skin what you wouldnt put in your plate

22.01.2022 Changing habits can be challenging, especially when we are used to eating a certain way. But just think about how you feel eating something healthy, compared to how "sluggish" you feel after binge eating on unhealthy foods. Food swaps are a great way to change your habits without going on a diet. Here a few ideas: ... Wholemeal sourdough X white bread Coconut yoghurt X dairy yoghurt Kombucha X soft drinks Raw chocolate X sugary snacks Fresh mixed nuts X muesli bars Eating healthy can make a huge difference if you are trying to lose weight, have more energy, and balance your hormones. Do you have more FOOD SWAP ideas? We would love to hear them! #eatclean #nourish #healthyeating #health #food #foodswapp #foodasmedicine #nutrition #naturopathy #womenhealth #behealthy #vegetarian #plantbased

17.01.2022 The answer is a big YES! And that’s because a starving brain is an anxious brain. We have about 6000 thoughts per day, on average. Whilst most of our thinking is done on a subconscious level, the brain still requires a lot of energy to process information, make decisions and send instructions to the rest of the body. Depending on the foods we eat, this can have a negative impact on how the brain functions, and you may end up feeling anxious or with a brain fog. ... Foods like grass-fed, hormone-free meat, nuts, seeds, and dark green vegetables will provide your brain with nutrients such as protein, iron, B vitamins, essential fatty acids, as well as magnesium and other minerals, all required for optimal brain function. But what happens when you eat refined carbohydrates (white bread, biscuits, pasta, white rice), sugar and other stimulants such as caffeine and alcohol? Those foods are not only nutritionally poor, but they also promote inflammation, and inflammation sets the brain on fire, leading to symptoms of anxiety. They also cause a short-lived spike on blood sugar followed by an unpleasant drop in energy, making us feel moody. Stimulants lead to an increase in adrenaline and cortisol (the stress hormone), which in the long run can lead to adrenal fatigue. On the other hand, having a healthy brain means you are better equipped to make good choices, to respond to challenges more positively and to become more resilient in stressful times. WIN-WIN! Taking a good multivitamin and mineral supplement can be a great place to start while you adopt a healthier diet. 14.01.2022 Green Juices are the biggest health trend right now! All celebrities and health gurus love them, and there are good reasons for it: Nutrient Boost: juices are a ready-to-use boost of nutrition as blending fruits and vegetables make all their nutrients readily available. This not only gives your body plenty of vitamins, minerals and fibre, but it also adds to your recommended daily intake of fruits and vegetables. Energy Boost: chlorophyll one of the richest source of v...itamins and minerals, which when added to your daily routine, gives your cells plenty of fuel to work with. Immune Boost: With ample nutrients available, your body is better equipped to fight disease, reduce inflammation, repair tissues and balance hormones. Healthier Digestion: fruits and vegetables are high in prebiotic fibre, enzymes and phytonutrients which support your digestive system Daily Detox: chlorophyll (the green pigment in plants) helps your liver and bowels release stored toxins, and that makes you simply glow. Our favourite recipes always included: celery, spirulina, wheatgrass, cucumber, parsley, and mint. Just be mindful to not have too much raw kale and spinach as they contain goitrogens that bind to iodine, stealing this important nutrient from your thyroid gland.
