25.01.2022 Important information for our patients who book online using HotDoc. They will never sell your information to a third party.
25.01.2022 It has been wonderful to see people at our clinic again! We strongly believe health-care is best provided face-to-face wherever possible and we are thrilled WA's successful flattening of the COVID-19 curve has enabled so many restrictions to lift. We have now begun phasing out our Medicare bulk-billed telehealth appointments. Rest assured if you or a loved one has begun telehealth therapy under a MHTP you will be able to complete your 10 sessions with no out-of-pocket expenses. Please call 9787 9072 or contact us through our website for more information. www.integrohealth.com.au
25.01.2022 School holidays are upon us! And unlike their spring and summer counterparts, the winter holidays can provide somewhat of a challenge with the dreaded threat of cabin fever settling in on adventurous young minds with seemingly limitless energy reserves. However, winter is one of the best times to get outdoors and explore the beauty of nature, particularly here in the Bunbury region. Back Beach is a favourite destination. With its volcanic rock formations to scramble over and... natural rock pools to investigate against a backdrop of crashing waves, what better to get the imagination running wild? Similarly, our local rivers offer a kind of ethereal magic in the cold winter mornings when the mist is rising from the warmer waters. Closer to home, enjoy a stroll in a light rain shower, tally the rainbows spotted over the holidays or search for spiderwebs adorned with sparkling raindrops. Or simply play with your children pretend to be dragons using your breath, draw pictures on frosted windows, collect raindrops on your tongues or jump in puddles. Try to let go of your grown-up thinking and embrace a child-like wonder and disregard for muddy shoes! Afterall, there is little that a warm shower, washing machine and hot chocolate cant fix. 24.01.2022 The Art of Manliness has a heap of awesome articles, podcasts, resources and tutorials. A member of our admin team found this gem whilst researching 'whistling with your fingers' tutorials with her son. One of our favourite articles is 31 Journaling Prompts for Building Greater Self-Reliance by guest contributor Kyle Eschenroeder. Its well worth the read, even if you are doubtful that youll find the time (or self-discipline) to follow through with all 31 prompts. #menshealthweek https://www.artofmanliness.com//31-days-greater-self-reli/
23.01.2022 Dont you love weekends? The lazy lie-ins, time to catch up with friends and family, perhaps visit the beach or play a round of backyard cricket and unwind from the hectic work week? Our office will be closed this Friday (14/2) but its not so Dr Paul can work on his tan or play a round of Pokemon with the kids- its finally our MOVING DAY! And its all hands-on deck as the whole team is getting on board and helping relocate and set up the office at our new premise at 52 Eaton Dr. You may experience some trouble getting in touch with us on Friday (14/2) but rest assured business will be operating as usual from Monday 17th! We look forward to seeing you at our new (and stair-free) premise!

19.01.2022 Did you know this Friday is the Winter Solstice? Admittedly, when I hear winter solstice the more imaginative part of my mind conjures druids dancing by candlelight in some hidden dell in Scotland or tales of spirits ghosting through dark and wintry woods. However, the Winter Solstice is actually an astronomical phenomenon. The Winter Solstice, for the Southern Hemisphere, occurs when the South Pole is furthest from the sun and the Earths tilt is at its most extreme- 23.4...4 degrees. It is a single point in time each year at which the Sun will be perpendicular to the Tropic of Cancer. The day has the least number of daylight hours (10 hours, 23 minutes and 23 seconds) and technically, at least with respect to astronomy, is the beginning of winter. This year the Winter Solstice will be at 11.54pm on Friday evening, a perfect excuse for a late night of stargazing with family and friends! We are extremely blessed in the South West to have excellent stargazing opportunities with minimal light pollution. Give yourself permission to indulge in some child-like wonder and embrace your inner astronomer- see how many constellations you can collectively spot or invent new ones (extra points for silly names). Or, if the clouds are out, light up the fire-pit and toast marshmallows. Gazing into the flames, feeling the contrasting warmth of the fire and chill of the evening, is a magnificent conduit for mindfulness. Gift yourself with the permission to just be and experience simply Being this Winter Solstice. Words: Sophie Plug Photo by Adrian Pelletier on Unsplash

12.01.2022 Did you know that 1 in five Australians will experience a mental health issue this year? Did you also know that 3 out of 4 people affected will experience stigma because of their condition? Its amazing that something so common can be reacted to so negatively. The shame and distress that can result for the sufferer may stop them from seeking the help they need. This isnt good enough. The suicide rate in WA is higher than the road toll. Get on board to help stop stigma for thos...e suffering from mental health issues. If youre in the Bunbury Region there is a free exhibition at the Bunbury Regional Art Gallery on the 7th - 27th October 2019. Here at Integro Health we are raising funds for NeuRa's mental health research by colouring our hair. We have been blown away by the amazing support we have received- we have almost reached our goal of $500! Stay tuned for the pics... www.thinkmentalhealthwa.com.au www.healthywa.wa.gov.au https://www.brag.org.au//620/-/mental-health-week-2019.html

10.01.2022 Gezelligheid: A cocktail to feel well, think well and live well. A friend-based concoction best made to individual tastes where the parts, whilst each potent on their own, combine to create a memorable experience. Enjoy liberally. Ingredients:... Friends - the key here is quality over quantity. Look for friends who you share a close connection with and that you trust implicitly. Fun - individual tastes will dictate the type but something with a hint of adventure and/or whimsy can generate surprisingly delightful results. Relaxation (be generous- the only limiting factor is your ability to absorb it). A brave dash of vulnerability - a key component to fostering deeper relationships and personal growth. Conversation a good ratio is 2-3 parts frivolous to 1 part deep & meaningful. Can be shaken or stirred- either will work however the optimal method will depend on the introvert-extrovert ratio. Serve in a safe environment (essential for protecting the vulnerability). Garnish with good food, a couple of drinks and music. Seasonal option: add a fire pit or pool. (A/N: Gezellig is a Dutch word that has no English translation but, for me at least, is the most appropriate name of this cocktail given the experience it was inspired by.) 06.01.2022 Sufferers of anxiety will know what I mean when I talk about that racing heart, pulsing energy that can take over your body at times. Sometimes for no apparent reason. Channeling that energy into an activity can sometimes help relieve these symptoms. Exercise is good, or deep breathing, but have you ever considered crochet or knitting? I recently rediscovered crochet as an activity to do while Im camping with the family. I was surprised to discover the mindful relaxation I f...elt as the stitches formed. As I ran my hands with pride over my emerging granny blanket, I realised that I felt peaceful. Calm. Grounded. Ive discovered that Im not alone. The University of Wollongong has conducted research into the benefits of crochet for mental health. 90% of the 8,000 people surveyed said that crochet made them feel calmer. There is a growing community of crafters that advocate its benefits and there is even a book called Crochet Saved My Life by Kathryn Vercillo. Crochet is cheap, cheerful and portable too. Maybe our Grannies were onto something... Words: Carli King Image: Imani on Unsplash
06.01.2022 Are you a carer? Do you have a carer? Carers Australia WA defines a carer as someone who provides unpaid care and support to family members and friends who have disability, mental illness, chronic condition, terminal illness, an alcohol or other drug issue, or who are frail aged. If you are a carer, the support you offer is invaluable. It is estimated that over 2.9 million Australians provide help and support to either family members or friends. As a country we rely on the... unpaid care that carers give, but for the carer this comes at a cost. Caring can be physically, mentally, emotionally and financially demanding. A carer may feel isolated and lonely. The demands of caring may leave a person feeling stressed, anxious or depressed. And all this may be further overshadowed by financial strain. If you are a carer, it is important to take the time to care for yourself. Whether it is a regular coffee with a good friend or taking time to enjoy a walk or an activity you find pleasant. There are people who can also help. If you have a carer, it is good to encourage them to look after themselves well. Carers Australia WA offers support including advice and counselling. Act Belong Commit details events to connect you to local support. They also have a wealth of information and advice for where to get help when needed. And dont forget you can talk to your doctor for support. Finally, if you are a carer reading this, thank you for all you do. Words: Jo Hunt Image: Myriam Zilles from Pixabay
