25.01.2022 While there is no ‘cure’ for PWS, there are a number of treatments available that help to maintain wellbeing and health in people with PWS. 25.01.2022 Housemates Todd, Cameron and Troy have been keeping busy during lockdown. They’ve caught up on their favourite TV shows, played educational and sensory games, and even spent time learning new creative skills including claywork and painting! #lockdown #ndis #disabiitysupport #disabilityservices

24.01.2022 ‘Alyssa is 13 years old and has a rare condition called lissencephaly. She also has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, chronic lung disease and global developmental delay. She lives with a number of complex medical issues that come from her disability including being wheelchair bound and non-verbal, PEG fed and having several seizures a day - sometimes up to 50. As a mum of a child with disability, some of the hardest times are being told that Alyssa doesn’t tick the boxes for certai...n programs or funding, and feeling like I was letting her down by not being able to give her what she is entitled to. Of course there are the times you feel very lonely and feel like there is no one that understands what you need to go through every day. For a long time I struggled with taking credit for how well Alyssa was doing. Whenever I heard a compliment about the hard work that I put in, I would say no, it’s Alyssa, she is a fighter. But I have slowly realised that my efforts have meant that she has amazing opportunities and life experiences. I made a promise to Alyssa that I would fight every step of the way with her and I hold my head high knowing that I have done that. To other mums with kids who have a disability - take some time for yourself! I know there will be mums thinking yeah right, that’s not possible and I was exactly the same. But over time I have learnt that I need to look after my health and wellbeing in order to be the best mum I can be to my children. This Mother’s Day I’ll be with my amazing husband and children playing bingo and dancing around our living room (one of Alyssa’s favourite things to do). Each year we take an annual Mother’s Day picture, so I think this year we will include blowing bubbles as we have been in a little isolation bubble due to COVID-19 - so quite fitting I think. Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums out there, you are ROCK STARS and SUPERHEROES and remember, you are doing an amazing job.’ - Some wonderful words this Mother's Day from Interaction team member Bec #mothersday #ndis #disabilitysupport #disabilityservices
