23.01.2022 Recently, Shayla and her Community Facilitator, Tash, decided to explore some of their favourite places in Central Victoria. Shayla has an interest in insects, especially butterflies and moths, so they visited Skydancers butterfly sanctuary in Barkers Creek and an ant colony in Lockwood. After, they took a road trip to the Macedon Ranges to stroll around the beautiful Forest Glade Gardens. The fragrant flowers, tranquil fountains, birds song and fish, made it a delightful af...ternoon. They finished the experience with a quick trip to Gisborne to browse the crystals and treasures at Shayla's favourite shop, Myths and Legends. What a way to spend the weekend!
22.01.2022 Sance came up with the idea that she wanted to camp outside during the school holidays. She wanted to have a campfire, cook a bbq tea and kick the football. Sance has been wanting to go away and travel, but understood with Covid we had to come up with a new idea. Sance planned with her Mum, Dad and Community Facilitator Em, what supplies they needed for the camp out and made sure they had everything for the weekend. Anything they didn’t have, Sance and Em would buy from the ...local supermarket. However, the weather wasn’t great on the weekend... but, with some negotiations and replanning, the tent and BBQ were set up inside and all other activities took place outside as planned. I think Sance’s smile tells us how much she enjoyed the weekend and the cold wet weather didn’t stop her and Em having a great time. #interchangelm #ndis #ndisprovider #disabilityawareness #disability #disabilityadvocate #disabilitysupport #communityinclusion #camping #campinglife #bbq #weekend #weekendretreat #fun #campover #tent #cerebralpalsy #cerebralpalsyawareness

17.01.2022 The Bendigo Advertiser recently published an NDIS Bendigo 2020 magazine. It is full of terrific real life stories of those involved with the NDIS, providing examples of the services and support that can be available through the scheme. One particular story features Lachie, who together with his family, have partnered with Interchange for the past 15 years to assist him in achieving his goals. This long term relationship allowed Interchange LMR to tailor its services to meet ...the changing needs of Lachie as he grew into a confident young man. Lachie enjoys participating in a range of Interchange LMR programs including Youth Social Group, Chill on the Hill afternoon program and Camps. He has a great rapport with Interchange Community Facilitators, specifically Glenn, Napoleon and Adam. Fantastic to see you living a fulfilling life Lachie :) If you would like to read the online publication and Lachie's full story (Page 9) you can use the following link: http://specialpubs.austcommunitymedia.com.au//2020/qfd/07/

04.01.2022 Making a difference Prior to the return of Stage 3 Covid Restrictions, Flynn was supported to attend his regular bi-weekly PT class at Firgun Strength and Performance. Flynn was making great progress under the guidance of his PT Jaspa, but when the restrictions were reintroduced last week we needed to find a way for Flynn to continue his sessions.... No longer were we able to support the sessions inside the gym, so Jaspa has taken Flynn’s sessions outdoors. This adheres to the strict Stage 3 Covid guidelines and enables Flynn to continue on his progress both physically and mentally. Sometimes we must adapt with change to enable others to continue to grow.
04.01.2022 Our Choice Adventures In the short time that the Interchange LMR Our Choice program was operating again in late June, early July, participants loved catching up with friends, accessing the community and visiting regional towns. Another trip was taken to Goornong for a spot of fishing and relaxing by the river followed by lunch at t...he Drovers Arms Hotel. The group had a scavenger hunt at Crusoe Reservoir, did some shopping and loved a couple of competitive games of bowling. With the hope of restrictions lifting as we head into Spring, some of these activities may appeal to you... If you are interested in getting out and about in a friendly, supportive, group setting,, contact Sandra at Interchange on 5441 1599 to learn more about the Our Choice program.

We are certainly on track to reach our distance goal of 3,000km and we will look to increasing that in the coming days.... 01.01.2022 This week at Kalianna OSHC, we joined in on a live hip hop dance class with our friends from Z Fit Studios! This was a great way to get our bodies moving, work up a sweat, unleash our creative side and practice our self-confidence. It was wonderful engaging with other children in our community via Zoom, especially during lockdown where we are missing our weekly adventures into the community. Check out our participant, Kaylee, absolutely nailing the routine by the end of the session. Thanks for having us, Z Fit! Kalianna School Bendigo
01.01.2022 The Great Cycle Challenge has come to an end and our team, Interchange Bikers, have done an amazing job throughout the month of October. It was the wettest October for 10 years, which made picking the riding days a little more challenging. So, between dodging the rain and those swooping magpies, our team managed to pedal an impressive 4,459 km. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our supporters who donated during the challenge. It was your donations that k...ept us going and will now assist the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their search for a cure for Children's cancer. Our team raised $9,202.51 during the challenge. Thank you. We also take this opportunity to thank all of our team members who come from various departments of our organisation and from all walks of life. There were many punctures and tumbles throughout the month, along with weary legs, sore bottoms and bursting lungs along the way. The organisers don't call it a challenge for nothing. But knowing that we were raising awareness and funds to fight children's cancer kept us going. Because children should be out there living life, not fighting for it..
