This lighting was able to be manufactured in their Melbourne factory, therefore alleviating any delays in supply due to the recent breakdown in global supply chains. 23.01.2022 What does lighting and croquet have in common??? Well Interglo Lighting were working for over a year to enable the members of the MCC Croquet Club to install lighting to their Croquet Greens so they could play after dark. Interglo got involved after several years of the Croquet Club attempting to get council approval for the lights. Working closely with the MCC and their town planning consultants, we came up with a design, and Dialux modelling that met the stringent requirements of the council for obtrusive light on the neighbouring buildings. 22.01.2022 The Black Diamond suite at the 530 Collins St project we recently completed, was a fairly straight forward compared to the other tenancies. The ceiling was to remain intact, along with the base build troffers, so we supplied lighting for the kitchen/breakout area and meeting room spaces. 21.01.2022 Initially we were planning on a mixture of local and overseas supply for the four tenancies at 530 Collins St, but on return from the Christmas break China was in lock down, and little were we to know that we too would soon be We were fortunately able to pivot, and manufacture the lighting (particularly for the Nickel Suite) in our factory, thus alleviating any delays in the lighting supply due to the breakdown in global supply chains. 21.01.2022 The Zinc Suite at the 530 Collins project we recently completed utilised the base building lighting for the open plan work area, but we were able to get creative in the collab space! In this area we used the GEO PS60D https://www.interglo.com.au/product/geo-ps60d/round profile, in order to accent the exposed ceiling. We also used the LC4060 curved profile from our Shapes range https://www.interglo.com.au/product/s/. This profile was curved to mirror the high work bench and the shape of the suspended planter over the table. Interglo was asked to inspect the fittings prior to install, looking primarily for: 1. Compliant Drivers 2. Electrical Safety 3. Earthing 4. Dimming compatibility on proposed DMX system ... 5. 19.01.2022 In the Nickel Suite at 530 Collins St that we completed recently, the GEO 1708 profile with 2110 350 LED's per metre tape was utilised to great effect. The workhorse of our joinery lighting range, the tight pitch on the LED allows for a completely dot-free look, even in this 8mm deep profile. The light output, colour temperature, colour rendering & distribution of light are all very important aspects to consider. 15.01.2022 The Triangleis a great commercial lighting solution and can be used to make large triangular fittings with sharp 60 degree corners. It can be suspended or surface mounted, and is also available with an uplighting option. A stunning range of anodised colours are possible, and the profile can range in cross section from 40(W) x 60mm(H) size, up to a substantial 80(W) x 100mm(H). The size of the fitting can be as wide, or as long as you want due to the modular nature of its construction. Today as we say goodbye to the last glimpses of the Summer we never really had, we appreciate that turning the clocks back an hour has been a feature of the life of most Australian’s since at least 1971. But it’s not all lingering afternoon wines, lazy F&C’s on the beach & long evening strolls. There are some that say daylight savings is bad for our heal...th. Here is an extract from that article... Professor Thomas Kantermann, an expert on chronobiology at the University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management in Germany, is firmly against daylight saving and has studied its impact on humans. "...we have this biology ticking in us that tries to synchronise us with the environment, and adding this artificial clock change, this pretending we are moving into a different time zone it just irritates." He said our circadian clocks react to the changes in light. If you have morning light, you synchronise with the day, and it helps you to fall asleep at an adequate time in the evening," he explained. If you have no daylight in the morning and only daylight or brighter light in the latter part of the day or the evenings, it makes you sleep later; it shifts your clock into the night." The ceiling was left exposed throughout, so there was the opportunity to use the GEO PS5075 suspended profile https://www.interglo.com.au/product/geo-ps5075/ in the open plan workspace. 10.01.2022 The largest component of the work in the Karaoke rooms at the Ocean 12 venue @crownmelbourne was the colour changing LED in the joinery, pelmets, bars and wall panels. As none of the joinery could be set out until the rooms were built and a site measure undertaken, we needed to work very closely with builder @one.68 to select the appropriate product (LED tape or Neon-Flex and the required profile) and to ensure that we had the required fittings manufactured in time for the joinery install. 08.01.2022 Our Interglo Managing Director Cameron Ely recently wrote... Good lighting design can be used to support our circadian rhythms. In the morning and during the day, higher lux levels and a higher (cooler) colour temperature will assist in alertness and "waking" people up. Toward the end of the day, the light level can be reduced, and a warmer colour temperature used to assist people to wind down as they approach their natural sleeping time. Apart from circadian rhythm, lighti...ng should also be zoned in the office environment depending on task. Creativity, and the generation of ideas can be promoted by the use of warmer light, with lower light levels. Brighter, cooler white lighting is more energising, and promotes concentrated work. This should be taken into consideration when designing collab and break-out spaces, as well as the main office floor. 06.01.2022 LED lighting emits a lot in the blue light spectrum. This blue light, or "daylight" can be very confusing for our bodies natural circadian rhythm. We have been very aware of this with our computers and smart phones for some time, and most manufacturers now have settings that enable a night mode which removes most of the blue light emitted by the screen. This is to minimize the disruption to peoples circadian rhythm who are working on a screen close to the time they need to s...leep. The lighting industry is also very aware of this issue, but implementation on a broad scale in the Australian market seems to be quite slow. There are many reasons for this, such as cost, legacy equipment, the long time cycle between refurbishments, and possibly a reluctance to tackle this as a lighting issue. 05.01.2022 Circadian rhythms are physical, mental and behavioural changes that follow a daily cycle. The best example is our need to sleep at night, when it is dark, and be awake during the day when it is light. Traditionally, our working hours, especially in white collar, office based roles are fixed, and set within daylight hours. But in general, these working hours are getting longer, with these additional hours coming from both an earlier start, as well as a later finish time. This... means, especially at this time of the year with the days getting shorter, that we can be in the office before it is light, and leave after dark. We are also spending a far greater proportion of our time under artificial light. This can be an issue at both ends of the day. In the morning, our circadian rhythm causes us to be wide awake and alert when the sun comes up, and is at its brightest. At the end of the days, as the sun goes down and it gets dark, our body starts to wind down, produce more melatonin and prepare itself for sleep. Sound like you? 04.01.2022 One of the most creative hospitality spaces we have been involved in fitting-out, the lighting design for the newly opened @mejicomelbourne Tequila Bar & Restaurant at ‘Collins Quarter’ in the Melbourne CBD, called for a custom festoon light solution in the courtyard, with the globes all hanging at random heights. It was going to be very challenging for the contractor to run mains voltage to the required locations, so we designed the system to use 24V globes The wiring l...ooms were made using cloth braided flex cable, & each lamp holder had a weighted, spun aluminiumshroud to make sure that the droppers hung straight.
