05.01.2022 Equestrian Victoria is ready and willing to move forward with reform in Equestrian Sport. In voting which opens today, two of our current members are up for re-...election, Carl Parkin, (the current chair), and Reece Adnams. Both Carl and Reece have worked hard in their voluntary roles to support the EV members and our disciplines during these unprecedented times. Our 2020 plan to review and update the current constitution was deferred in order to address the more pressing issues of COVID-19 and the surprise voluntary administration of Equestrian Australia. Despite all the things that 2020 threw at us, EV remains in a strong operational and financial position and our alignment with the State Government, has never been better. Money raised from events is being filtered back into the disciplines to go towards Squads and future events, and Werribee Park continues to be improved, with a new Martin Collins surface soon to be completed. The inclusion of an Interschools Standing Committee and representative on our Board recognises the large membership of junior riders and the importance of this growing pathway into our disciplines. This is in alignment with strategic work undertaken by the board in 2019, and is part of the ongoing grass roots development of our sport. Our reasoning behind broadening who the Discipline Committee can elect to be its representative on the EV Board was simply to give them the option of having their chair or electing another Discipline Committee member to represent them on the EV board. This has the benefit of spreading the workload. As a board we hope that we are able to continue with our strong foundation. Our group is cohesive, focused and committed to achieving EV’s vision of everyone living their equestrian dream. We encourage you to consider endorsing our constitutional amendment and wish all of the candidates the very best for the coming election. 01.01.2022 Good afternoon, It is with delight that I share a brief update from the EV Board. Last week saw the Board induct our two new members, Christie Freeman and Lynet...te Lee, and appoint office bearers for the year, with myself being elected as Chair and Peter Lee as Deputy Chair. Peter and I look forward to leading the team in 2021 as we continue to navigate the global pandemic (hopefully the end of it!), and participate in the discussions to see our National Body EA be a strong and respected organisation. We will do this with a commitment to listening, and learning, from both our membership and our other Victorian sporting community stakeholders. Good Governance practices along with EV's own values will underpin our decisions and behaviours as we work together with our members, officials, volunteers and coaches to deliver our vision. I would like to thank Anthony Bowd from VicSport for conducting our Board Good Governance session at the meeting where he presented and outlined the roles of the board and our roles as Directors of equestrian sport in Victoria. On behalf of the Board I wish you, your family and horses a safe, healthy and Merry Christmas, and we look forward to serving you throughout 2021. MICHELLE HEAGNEY EV Board Chair
