21.01.2022 Aboriginal Women’s Art Although women have always been prolific artists in Aboriginal societies, the importance of their work was not widely recognized until re...cently. Collectors who acquired women’s paintings, fibre arts and carvings during the nineteenth century, failed to understand that female artists worked separately from men and their works had distinctive uses and meanings. At that time, European explorers and researchers were predominantly male and Aboriginal women did not display sacred images or reveal aspects of their religion to men. The division between men’s and women’s ceremonies and art forms is explained by elderly men in Arnhem Land who admit that in ancient times women owned all sacred rituals and exerted spiritual authority over men. But they were careless with that knowledge so men took it and have excluded women from important ceremonies ever since. In fact, women have their own ceremonies, ritual knowledge and repertoire of symbols and meanings. In regions such as Melville and Bathurst Islands, they take an active role with men in carving, painting, dancing and composing songs although older men confirm the correctness and quality of their work. Turns out, the westernized slang woo comes from the ancient Chinese wu, a word that, two-thousand years ago, meant female shaman, healer and teacher. Being called woo woo was never really an issue for me but now I also totally love it. So for those of you that have been called woo woo - what do you think now?

09.01.2022 Aquarius Full Moon On the 4th of August at 1.28am the moon becomes full under the sign of Aquarius. Full Moons illuminate the energies in our life and if we take the time to tune within then they can offer us a chance to see what we need to heal within ourselves, however if we are not paying attention then the power of the full moon, (which reflects the light of the opposing sun sign) can trigger us and allow our emotions and sometimes common sense to overrun us. The energy ...of full moon in Aquarius is quite expansive and opens us up to the big picture of our journey. Its energy that can promote deep thinking and often thinking out of the box. It is a time where we look for independence, finding our unique voice and it can bring out the humanitarian in all of us. We will be inspired to search for the truth and an Aquarius full moon can often help us see things from a different perspective and this can encourage us to change our course, and perhaps follow a new path that is more in tune to who we truly are. Influencing this full moon is also the planet of Uranus, the planet of awakening and change. Uranus has been influencing our energy during the last couple of days and will continue over the Full Moon. This may leave us feeling uncertain with our choices, highlighting negative belief patterns within us and we may even feel like we don’t know what to trust anymore. However, by understanding what we are doubting in our lives will also help us to see what is strong in our lives too. Aquarius can help us see the truth of our journey but we need to allow ourselves to open up and see things from a different angle and be prepared to let go of some of those uncertain things, along with old fears and belief patterns that no longer serve us in our lives. Remember to keep in mind that Aquarian energy has the potential for feeling positive about change, so it is a perfect time to clear out what you need to and set a new course. But.we also need to remember that it is also a sign that doesn’t deal with emotions very well, so stay tuned into yourself during this full moon. Dream, awaken, heal and let go and most importantly explore those ideas of what your soul is trying to tell you and be prepared to set sail.
