25.01.2022 We asked our CEO Milton Samios to share his thoughts on #eachforequal What does it mean for you? I think the theme this year is everyone must do their part to achieve gender equality. It can’t be driven by just one group or by only a section of the community. I subscribe to this view because I don’t believe you will change attitudes if a large group of people decide to opt out or sit on the side-lines. I spent 10 years in South Africa post Mandela and have witnessed first-han...d how slow progress can be if not everyone buys in. On the other hand I remember how quickly attitudes changed to issues like drink driving and smoking when everyone saw it as a priority. What do you hope the future of Investec looks like with gender equality? If I look five years into the future I would want to see a diverse workforce in all parts / levels of the business. If a number of business units are headed by women I would see that as a clear sign of success. The motivation for building a diverse team is very simple and well supported. It increases the talent pool and reduces the risk of group think’. If you keep fishing in the same pool you get the same type of fish.

We were appointed as advisors to the Administrators, FTI Consulting, to initially provide strategic advice around the valuation of the group and recovery options for stakeholders. We undertook a dual-track market process to explore the sale of the company and /or a recapitalisation of the Gascoyne group. ...A recapitalisation was undertaken involving AUD140m of new capital with Investec providing a AUD40m debt facility and associated hedging facility. The transaction completed on 21 October with creditors repaid in full and Gascoyne shares readmitted to trading on the ASX.
