13.01.2022 When I dreamed about adulthood there was a husband, kids, the house, the career, not to mention keeping up the daily exercise regime I managed in my 20s. And it all looked easy and amazing! Bahahaha! Don’t get me wrong. There certainly are good bits. I mean, the girls are pretty cute and Simon’s ok But my constant need for perfection in this society that expects it all from women, fuelled by the feminism of the well-meaning women of the 60s and 70s? ... It’s exhausting. Anyone with me?? One of the major things that keeps me going is knowing that our financial future is secure. Not only are we in a position where we are fine with one wage in our family... soon Simon will also be able to CHOOSE whether or not he works. We are just sitting tight at the moment waiting for the property market to do its thing and for our bank account to look more and more healthy. Our 10 investment properties are doing the work. And that gives me faith that balance will be restored. We will both be able to choose how to use our time (well, within the scope of parenting two little people).

04.01.2022 One of our favourite things to do at the dinner table each evening is a gratitude practice, asking anyone if they would like to share what they are grateful about that day. The kids come up with the cutest stuff. It helps us remember to appreciate the little things (like, say, the shops giving us lollies). It's hard sometimes, but if we can try to remain grateful for what we already have, we are in the right vibration to receive more good things.
