25.01.2022 It is with great sadness, that we announce the cancellation of the 2020 Lightning Ridge Opal Festival. The Lightning Ridge Opal Festival has become a large eve...nt and due to its size requires a significant amount of planning. With border restrictions still in place and no announcement or approval for holding large-scale events, we do not believe that we will be able to deliver this year’s event to our usual scale and standard. The Festival is a major economic driver for Lightning Ridge and our region. We encourage anyone who had planned to visit Lightning Ridge in the next coming months to do so. Lightning Ridge is a wonderful town to explore and we are ready to welcome visitors. We are now planning the 2021 Festival and hope that it can be bigger and better than ever! SAVE THE DATE: 28TH-31ST JULY 2021 Lightning Ridge Opal Festival Committee

04.01.2022 The 2019 IOJDAA committee owe a huge thank you to Justine Buckley and Andrew Kemeny for many many hours of work that went into the video production and photography of entries. Justine photographed each entry for us on multiple backgrounds taking many many hours across many weeks. Thanks also goes to her lovely photography assistant for a day Vicki Bokros and also Justine's lovely daughter Cloe for the workspace organisation. Andrew worked tirelessly for hours on end to comp...ile the amazing video presentations that helped with the visual impact of the awards on the night. To say the awards wouldn't be the same without the help of these amazing people is a hollow statement as it would have been nothing without their input, skill and expertise. They worked extremely hard on this for us and all the while were preparing for their own business endeavours at the opal festival. Please give them your appreciation as they are indeed worthy of all the thanks yous and appreciation we can given them.
