21.01.2022 | Addams Family the Musical 28 to 31 May | Rehearsal Sunday 2 February Last Sunday we had a very special guest at rehearsal. Tom Oliver (2010) acted as coach... and mentor for the day. Tom is one of Australias brightest rising talents with a broad portfolio that includes music, theatre, film, television and cabaret. Toms wisdom was very much appreciated and enjoyed, as was the impromptu performance he gave the students at the end of the day. Final Casting Auditions Thank you to the Years 5, 6 and 7 students who have auditioned over the last fortnight. We look forward to welcoming you into the cast soon! Production Supporters Group The Production Supporters Group is a team of Iona community members who work together to fundraise, market and assist with the school production each year. This group is included in Parent Commitment contributions for 2020 so keep an eye out for the Parent Commitment Form for further information. All members of our community are invited to be involved. We would gratefully accept donations of raffle prizes and also need assistance with dress rehearsals in May and over the performance nights 28 to 31 May. 11.01.2022 MUSICAL ANNOUNCEMENT As many of you would be aware, Iona College was due to present The Addams Family in May this year, but it was postponed due to COVID19r. The initial plan was to potentially continue with the production in 2021 as restrictions hopefully eased. However, the College has recently made the decision to cancel this event and instead, begin afresh with a new musical for 2021. This decision has been made in light of the current global climate and the recent cha...llenges faced by our community. The context of our world and our community has changed and, due to some of the dark comedy included in the style of The Addams Family, we no longer feel that it is an appropriate fit for us at this time. We very much look forward to celebrating the good work of the cast and crew with a special event later in the year and the gift of a commemorative t-shirt. The enthusiasm, energy and talent they brought to rehearsals was astounding. We would like to thank them for their dedication and resilience. All students in Years 5-11 involved in The Addams Family will gain immediate inclusion in the 2021 alternative and auditions will be held for those who want to merge into the cast for the new production. Further information about this process will be communicated in coming weeks. 06.01.2022 POSTPONED Disappointingly, the musical must be postponed due to the current COVID-19 climate. Rehearsals have now ceased, and further information will be released regarding Plan B in the future. We want to say a huge CONGRATULATIONS to the cast, crew, band, staff and community members who have made a massive contribution to the production thus far. Although we are no longer working toward our end of May deadline, it is important to take a moment to acknowledge the accomp...lishments we have made. We have come together as a special little family to collaborate and create, and in turn, have gained knowledge, advanced skills, built confidence and forged friendships. We have had a lot of laughs together and this will never be forgotten. As a director, I am so proud of our wonderful team. It has been a joy working with all of you and I look forward to communicating with you our plan moving forward when we are in a better position to make future decisions. In the meantime, remember that you are an Addams, so remain creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky! Ms Keene

06.01.2022 -FRIDAY AND SUNDAY REHEARSALS!- The cast and crew are well and truly into the thick of it as we steam ahead in rehearsals. We have ghouls dancing, gargoyles box stepping and ancestors creeping around. Its going to be a SCREAM! We thank all the staff, old boys, parent volunteers and also of course the cast and band members for giving it their all!

05.01.2022 - FRIDAYS AUDITION AND VOCAL MASTERCLASS- The Addams Family Cast and Crew had another fantastic rehearsal last Friday, 7th February. We were very fortunate to have another special guest to join us and lend her expertise: Mrs Carly Nisbett. Mrs Nisbett is an experienced professional vocal coach who has spent much of her life dedicated to the singing profession. For the first half of the rehearsal, the cast was lent her experience, knowledge and expertise. They learnt and pra...cticed three new songs and soaked up her knowledge and enthusiasm. We also polished off some exciting dancing numbers and had plenty of laughs along the way. We look forward to welcoming back Mrs Nisbett this Friday for another wonderful rehearsal.

04.01.2022 SUCCESSFUL SECOND REHEARSAL On Friday evening, the entire cast, crew and band gathered for a second very successful rehearsal. The band came along for their first rehearsal and played the night away. On behalf of the musical team, we extend a huge thank-you for a fantastic start to the production and wish you a safe and relaxing break. We will see you ready and roaring to go in the new year!
