We also make exciting wines from select parcels of fruit grown in premium viticultural areas of NSW to complement our range.
19.01.2022 V2021 has finally come to an end at Iron Gate Estate! Today we processed the last of our red fruit from the Hilltops region. This harvest has been a long and exciting one! We've increased our production yet again, introduced new wine styles, re-made the faves like Sweet Shiraz & Georgia Sparkling Rosé and there were only three mechanical breakdowns- amazing. ... This Vintage pulled out all the stops. First we were teased with a sweet start to summer, moderate and sunny days that moved us into a relatively cool season, topped off by torrential rain and flooding. They say winemakers and grape growers sleep 40% less during wet seasons, cursing their inability to control weather. Geoff is particularly keen for you all to try our 2021 Rosé, Chardonnay and Blanc de Blanc and for a day off. Jade & Keels are excited to finally have wrinkle free hands and Gavin is happy that we will all stop requesting money for grapes, oak barrels and beers. Keep your eyes peeled for some new releases in the upcoming months.
19.01.2022 It's almost Christmas and that means it's almost grape ripening season. Did you know that the flavors of wine are affected by how long the grapes are on the vine. Earlier harvested grapes have lower sugar levels and higher acidity for a crisp, tart wine (typically white wines!). Red grapes require a more balanced sugar and acidity level for complexity. And dessert wines are left on the vines the longest! #irongateestate
