24.01.2022 The joys of country living. It is all installed.. with its dramas of needing to swap plumbers half way through because apparently a gas leak was more important.so lost him yesterday and he was on morning ferry off the island this morning.. which I didn't know. So found that out while electrician was here this morning so he saw some ugly crying was about to start so rang his brother in law up real quick. Saved the mascara running and we got it all done.... Not the end of st...ory... now this quiet machine is making such a racket it would wake the dead..I actually thinking the Quantum lying in a heap beside it was starting to get a heart beat back... so machine turned off after an hour of after hours harassing the supplier and my pool tech who said turn it off and deal with it tomorrow. Both plumbers and electricians aren't available tomorrow so this locksmith has to be the technician. It's a trade...isn't that all that is needed?..... OH GOD HELP ME.......... I have faith....I can do this So that was only one part of my day and not even the thing that did get me to ugly cry.... but it's 20 to 7 and time switch off and reset. Have a great night and watch this space for a theratherm success story or a quantum resurrection.

23.01.2022 Head down. Bum up... coffee full.. logistics on the heat pump complete. Arriving Wednesday Plumber at noon Electrician hopefully on Thursday morning if he can juggle otherwise it's Friday. Heat pump will then be pumping for a warm pool from Saturday. PHEW... my work here is done

23.01.2022 Huge congrats to Kathy Lou, manager Island Motel Kingscote, for taking such great care of St John Ambulance staff who stayed at the motel at no cost. The CEO and State Superintendent presented her with a fibrillator, first aid kit and mannequin for practise CPR. Well done Kathy.

22.01.2022 Back to normal schedule next week. Minus Val, who is still in recovery. Mel is still to confirm for next week and Saturday is a one off birthday party.

22.01.2022 Heard some noise in the freezers and then this head popped up. Meet Kathy Lou our new manager... cleaning the deep freezers out was her first project. She is a little pocket rocket. ... All the swimmers please come up and introduce yourself to her so she can recognise faces for your memberships or group bookings.

21.01.2022 All happening here today. Reception and store rooms being gutted ready for roof and ceiling repairs. Meantime in the dining room getting ready for a private viewing me, myself and the cat watching a movie tonight on the big screen might have to crank up the popcorn machine.

18.01.2022 Scary morning face... but I am bubbling up inside...Peter Bell transport and Mogas with their fork lift have delivered the much awaited 'App controlled hunky dory top of the range more than required kw for improved and consistent control at all seasons and usage' heat pump. Thanks Michelle KI Kennels and Fodder for their generous offer of paying freight. However, Luke at Mogas did the wonderful neighborly country help thing...free swims for you. 17.01.2022 ***UPDATE***** 1300HRS 03/08/2019 24 How many people does it take to install a heat pump? 3 plumbers, 1 electrician (might need him again), one supplier, one manufacturer and one pool technician, 2 staff and myself... and a dear friend, who is listening to my dramas in real time not the watered down later versions you all hear....... Take 2 on Monday/Tuesday. I will keep it running though and get that water heated up.. it's only a couple of cosmetic things to be done that has small functions as well that don't hamper the pump at this stage but to get them done we need to cut the pipes again. Sigh. It's 10 deg outside but 'the not quite finished installed' heat pump has got water temp up 3 degrees over night. So it might be slow at heating up 50000L but it is ready for the swimmers. Only 7 deg to go. The birds have had a field day with not so much action in there the last week but the Carter brothers have cleaned it up real nice. Chemicals checked and is safe for swimming. Standby for action...5..4...3...2...1 ...Thunderbirds are go.

12.01.2022 My team are working hard at keeping the nests away from above the pool. Spring is coming early to us at Island Motel Kingscote absolutely beautiful sunny days and lots of birds activities. The pool is still set at a constant 30deg though because we still getting a little chill in the air. ... Would love to see you here.

And a whole lot of maintenance issues dealt with. Thanks to Jeannette, Lucy and Greg who helped me pack up my personal gear and sell it. It was one crazy 2 weeks. 09.01.2022 We are at 29degrees this morning. Happy dance, was so excited to go down and check it out I didn't do my hair or makeup. This is just raw excitement just here. THE POOL IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS WARM AGAIN. Of course it hadn't shut down..you just didn't want to swim in 19deg pool...need to all take a leaf out of Stans page. ... NO don't do that. I have a warm pool again. Don't be like Stan. Be like Jane..Jane went for a swim today in a warm pool and loved it.

09.01.2022 This is one very happy excited smile and it is for all you swimmers out there. The money is coming through for the heat pump. Now do I go for a drive to Adelaide and pick it up or get it freighted????....maybe someone is in Adelaide next week can pick it up????

04.01.2022 ***UPDATE****1430HRS 4TH AUGUST 28.3 As of 0730hrs 4th August 2019 we are at 27 As Theratherm is the new baby to the Island Motel Kingscote family I am doing lots of checks. ... Last night I thought I would just go check the chemigem which had now become the toddler of the family.. with the different temperatures of the pool the chemicals can react differently. But as I got inside the pool area I heard this sucking noise. That's not good I thought. Had a look at the filter at pool level and it had just enough water not to be sucking air into the filter. It seems like the teenager of the family wanted a little bit of attention... it had dumped quite a bit of water. So I quickly turned him off and threw the hose in. I am thinking he is ruining everything I am now putting cold water into my slowly warming up pool. I believe he was really jealous. So after an hour of water topping it up and at 2000hrs I decided to vacuum the pool to give the filter some loving one on one attention. I did a little backwash, cleaned out the pump filter. I think he is happy again because in my checks this morning all the kids are playing nicely together. By this afternoon or at least tomorrow morning we should be at 29 If I can ask the group leaders to send me through your session times so I can compile the new schedule. 01.01.2022 Well without a heat pump to turn on every morning for the pool and no guests in the motel at present I have decided to take a 2 nights off....I will be still on Island. I will still have my phone on me and I will have a couple of back up personel my 2IC and Bryan if anything urgent is required (not that they know it yet...I just decided).. I will be organising what I can with the heat pump before I go though...so don't stress..I maybe on holidays but I never rest...besides I have a heap of locksmith jobs to do while on holidays lol.
