This little guy is a blue-banded bee (Amegilla cingulata) and can be found all over Western Australia These are one of only a few native Auss...ie bees that perform 'buzz pollination.' This involves the bee grabbing onto the flower, shaking their body rapidly, causing the flower to vibrate. This vibration causes the stubborn pollen to be dislodged from the anther, so it can then be collected by the bee! Thanks for all you do, little bee! Nick Volpe Wildlife Photography
