24.01.2022 Only 4 more places available for piano lessons! Enrol now to receive your first lesson free. Music plays an essential role in our childrens education and brain development. Piano is the easiest instrument for young children to learn due to its visual patterns and its ability to play a range of pitch with the same technique. It is also easy to sing while playing, which develops good aural skills. Music is necessary for our mental health and wellbeing - dont just list...en to music - learn to PLAY it, and our once natural world of sound, imagination, story-telling and expressive communication will be yours to share. Call or text me on 0426 831 733 PM on Facebook. Kim

23.01.2022 Music and speech - two peas in a babys brain pod In this study they found that 9 month old babies who had one month of exposure to directed music listenin...g improved not only their auditory processing of music but also their language. So little time, so much benefit! https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s11125-017-9397-6

21.01.2022 However... my older son now sleeps just as peacefully to death-metal! I still believe in the more peaceful approach. At least for our babies :)

19.01.2022 Music learning in early childhood increases pre-reading skills and vocabulary. The results of this study of 90 3-6 years olds found that early childhood music ...training can lead to associated improvements in both musical skills and language skills thus strengthening the evidence for a developmental link between these two abilities. http://mp.ucpress.edu/content/35/5/579 See more

17.01.2022 Childhood stress and how music learning helps. This article is a poignant reminder of the impact of stress on a childs brain development. The brain is moulded ...by our life experiences and this study shows that maturation of certain parts of the brain is accelerated in order to deal with extraordinary life events and stress. Music learning has been found to help in regulating that development, allowing children to better deal with stress in both childhood and adolescence. https://neurosciencenews.com/childhood-stress-brain-mature/ See more

16.01.2022 My website is almost up and running! All students will soon have access to a Portal where they can find and manage their lesson timetables, download resources, find events and activities, log practise times and get teacher notes and updates. So excited to have this great resource, thanks to My Music Staff. https://www.mymusicstaff.com/

16.01.2022 Check out my new website! Its also a student portal to My Music Staff where students can check their lesson calendar, events, notices, accounts and log their practice times. I have included a list of useful piano apps, links to relevant music sites and of course there is information regarding me/availability/fees etc. I didnt have many creative options in the formatting but I think the template I was given works well. https://ivorykeys.mymusicstaff.com/

14.01.2022 Does funding for music programs afford private schools an academic advantage over public schools? Is there a musical divide?

13.01.2022 Heres why those childhood piano lessons are worth it... (via Seeker)

13.01.2022 PIANO LESSONS available for 2019 https://ivorykeys.mymusicstaff.com/

10.01.2022 I dont agree that sports are not just as important, and I am all for new technologies, but this is an interesting read - proving again that our general knowledge and intelligence is declining with the incline of technology. And music literacy - the basis of our cultures and humanity - is disappearing along with it. Sad.

09.01.2022 "Every child deserves to have a music education." - #DontStopTheMusicAU follows the children of Challis Primary School as they embark on a musical journey that will challenge them, surprise them, and for many, transform their lives! #AusmusicMonth

05.01.2022 SING with your children Lets encourage musical ability and enjoyment, by singing with our children at home. It isnt about talent and certainly your chi...ld isnt going to worry about you singing the right words or the right tune. Make up your own songs! Have fun! Thats what its all about! Children are natural musicians...if you are a parent, you could sing the music you loved growing up and not worry about how good you sound. Having an adult in the home committed to music and singing without shame may be the most powerful influence on a child. You could sing with your kids from the time they are little, sing with the radio, sing in the car or sing at the dinner table. And you know what the best part is?! You can sing anywhere and anytime !! #themusicalmum #sing #singwithyourchildren #musicians #kidsmusic #childrensmusic See more

05.01.2022 How can such expression and song come out of such little movement? Beautiful :)

05.01.2022 "Music education is not just about providing career options for our kids." Guy Sebastian describes the cognitive skills his six year-old son learns when he sings harmonies with his dad. #DontStopTheMusicAU

03.01.2022 Good for teaching dynamics and articulation when learning an instrument - same as dance and movement in general. Expression in music is something that comes from your own body movements and feelings (the technique that takes so long for students to grasp). This could help with that concept!
