24.01.2022 If you watched my story over the weekend, you wouldve seen that a new florist opened next door - @wild_jannali Nicola took a huge leap by opening her business and her best friend wanted to let her know how proud she was, all the way from the UK. And, instead of sending flowers she sent cake! My one brief was that she loved pink - so pink is what she got! I had a tonne of fun creating the textured finish on this cake as well as working with this amazing blooms from my gals at @verdaflore

23.01.2022 Today is R U OK day... a day that I hold very near and dear to my heart. Its just over 2 years now since I was diagnosed with anxiety. Im in a completely different space to where I was then, but I still struggle with it in one way or another every day. It keeps me up at night, it stops me from going out like any other normal 23 year old and quite often effects the way I work. But its so important to share these struggles openly and I do so with no shame. We need to be op...en so it can be accepted as the debilitating illness it truly is. Please take the time to see help if you need it.. I know I do. I see a therapist monthly and would be lost without her. And dont be scared to ask your friends, family or even acquaintances if theyre ok. We are all battling in one way or another and sometimes just need to be heard. Honestly, Ive been a bit down over the past few weeks because of my anxiety, but today I can say that I am okay and I can only pray that continues as my mental health slowly improves. 19.01.2022 YOURE STRAIGHT UP MAGIC Ive been wracking my brain lately as to how I can incorporate my business with helping those who suffer with anxiety/mental illness. So what Ive come up with, (after being inspired by @hey.there.sugar), is a series of mood boosting cakes. Something that a friend can buy you that will simultaneously cheer you up whilst being super delicious. This is just an example of what I am thinking of and when I have more time (and potentially an employee), I...d love to have these on offer all the time. 17.01.2022 A moody cake deserves a moody photo shoot. No brick wall here! So Ive been teasing this baby on my stories since I started working in it back in April IM SO EXCITED IT IS FINISHED AND I HAD TO SHARE IT WITH YOU IMMEDIATELY! I am pretty sure its my favourite cake Ive ever made. Its nothing like Ive ever made before. I had no rules. No ideas. No expectations. But its exceeded anything I couldve planned. You know how else I know it is a win? It made my very hard to impr...ess father say oh wow. I almost died hearing that come from his lips Thanks to my babe of a friend Patricia @twosweetfigs for the triangle dragees! When I got them I exclaimed Im going to triangle the triangle. And thus this idea was born. The triangle prisms are made using wafer paper! I hope you love it as much as I do. Again, create for yourself. 11.01.2022 And here is last weeks wedding cake in all its glory I will be honest and say that Im very paranoid that Ive hyped this too much and it wont live up to expectations.. but even if thats true it doesnt really matter because the bride and groom loved it! (And so did I). I was given two directions for this design - the colour palette + number of tiers. Every other feature in terms of design was up to me. They were completely surprised upon delivery. I have never felt more... trust from a client before and I am so grateful! There are elements of carved, painted and 3D kintsugi, grey watercolour that Ive layered with wafer paper and my favourite - a clear acrylic tier in the middle. Nor do I often work with vertical flowers like Cala Lillys or cherry blossom... but I must say I was thrilled with the outcome! However, I came to a realisation today... that despite the fact I have anxiety and confidence issues with almost everything in my life I dont have them about my work. I never question my abilities or whether Im in the right career - thank you God! And after endless mental battles these past few days, this has given me a lot of comfort. 04.01.2022 I had the privilege of spending my weekend with the one and only of @maggieaustincake. I was challenged both creatively and mentally as I learnt multiple new techniques. I cannot wait to replicate and further experiment with incorporating these into my own designs. 04.01.2022 Let there be light My favourite wedding cake to date, I think! My beautiful bride Sharna allowed me 100% free reign on this design - that kind of trust still blows my mind. But it allowed me to try something new! Their brief for the wedding included a focus on lighting and touches of modern industrial. This yielded my idea for the metal beam structures and the addition of fairy lights! I added some texture, of course some of my signature hand painting and my fave clea...r acrylic disc. 03.01.2022 I was contacted on behalf of Christine Rose Dungay to bring awareness to her new youth initiative. Her brother, David Dungay Jnr. was victim to police brutality here in Sydneys Long Bay jail. Christine has started The David Dungay Jnr Youth Group in hopes of helping our First Nations youth. She hopes to end racism in our younger generations and stop them from ending up in jail. She hopes to raise 50k. 03.01.2022 This is cake!! I decided to take part in the How to Cake It #REPLICAKE it challenge. So I made one of my favourite meals (and one of my fave @yolanda_gampp cakes)!! This pile of nachos is entirely made of cake, ganache, sweet tortilla chips, Coco Pop mince, with the sweetest liquorice tomato + olive additions! Topped with buttercream guacamole and sour cream - DELISH!
