25.01.2022 ~ Cleaning tip from Ivy Lane ~ Microfibre cloths are wonderful and a great item to clean and polish with! To get stainless steel items streak free and shiny, apply white vinegar to a microfibre cloth (on the fibrous side) and polish the area. If using on a fridge, wipe the area left to right then top to bottom. Theres no need to rinse off with water. Remember not to wash your microfibre cloths with any towels as they attract lint and will damage them. Happy cleaning

24.01.2022 TRIED AND TESTED So, what works for cleaning and what doesn’t?? I’ve decided to starting trying a few various products on my own house clean and give you some feedback. Hey, if anything can make your life easier then why not share it??... I’ve recently tried the Chux Magic Eraser for my shower. I’ve used the large one as it’s easy to hold. This was used to wipe down the shower screen, floor and wall tiles with no chemicals and minimal effort. Simply clean away while you’re in the shower, rinse it down (to remove any streaks off the glass) and done... soap scum gone! Absolutely love it!!! See more

18.01.2022 ~ Fragrance tip from Ivy Lane ~ To keep your bathroom smelling divine, place a few drops of your favourite scented oil into the inside of your toilet rolls. The fragrance will seep into the cardboard and keep the air fragrant. My favourite scents are cranberry, apple, coconut and strawberry. Whats yours??

15.01.2022 I clean many houses in the mountains and one of the common things I get asked is how to remove the hard water build up in toilets (you know.. the stuff that looks like concrete.) Last night I tackled my own latrine and the results surprised me! The product used is highly chemical (sulphamic acid) so its not for everyone... but definitely makes a difference. 15.01.2022 ~ Healthy Home tip from Ivy Lane ~ As we head into the "cold and flu" months we all want to keep those germs away! As a recipient of a double organ transplant I learnt that the best way to rid germs in your house is to air your home for at least 10 mins every day. Sprays and natural products (such as vinegar) are great for surface germs but you need to minimise those in the air. Eucalyptus spray is a favourite but just be mindful when using it around small children. Stay healthy everyone

13.01.2022 Happy Wednesday everyone The carpal tunnel surgery in my left hand went really well and I am due to get the stitches out today. However, because it went so well they have decided to do my right hand today which means another 2 weeks of being out of action if anyone desperately needs their house cleaned, please let me know and I will try to organise another cleaner for you. 08.01.2022 FRAGRANCE TIP Next time you replace the toilet roll in you bathroom, sprinkle a few drops of your favourite fragrance oil inside the cardboard roll. The fragrance will absorb into the cardboard and the smell will remain until you discard the roll. This helps to avoid the use of chemical sprays

08.01.2022 ~ FRAGRANCE TIP FROM IVY LANE ~ Many Ivy Lane customers will notice their bathrooms smelling of cranberry or apple at the moment. Another tip for using fragrance oils in your home is to place a few drops inside your lounge cushions. (Especially the decorative cushions) * Be mindful of allowing the scent to absorb into the cushion stuffing prior to placing the cover back on to avoid oil stains * As we head into the cooler months why not try warming scents of cinnamon or nutmeg

07.01.2022 SIMPLE & SAFE TIP FOR MICROWAVE CLEANING The below is one of the simplest ways to clean your microwave without using chemicals. 1) In a microwave safe bowl add 2 cups of water and 2 tablespoons of white vinegar 2) Microwave on high for 5 mins 3) When finished, allow the bowl to sit in the microwave for another 2 minutes... 4) Remove bowl (taking care due to heat) and wipe out microwave with a wet cloth THATS IT!!!!!! * To avoid bubbles in the water when boiling, place a toothpick in the bowl also. This will pop the bubbles and avoid the water going everywhere See more

06.01.2022 Looking for a cost effective way to keep your house smelling gorgeous? Place half a cup of dry rice (white will do) into a small dish and sprinkle with approx 15 drops of your favourite fragrance oil. Make sure you give it a good stir around... and thats it!!! The rice holds the fragrance and is a budget friendly alternative to reed diffusers and a safer option to candles if you have small children. Whats your favourite fragrance?

05.01.2022 CLEANING TIP I absolutely love when I discover a new cleaning trick. I thought there was no way to clean the glass on the inside of my fireplace and assumed it was just burnt. Obviously not wanting to use chemicals to clean it I found the following trick - 1) when the white ashes have cooled in the fire place, dip some slightly damp newspaper in them and rub this onto the glass. ... 2) wipe down with a wet paper towel...
