23.01.2022 Remediation assessments are commencing in Jabiru this week and will run until December. The assessments are being undertaken by Parks Australia on behalf of all parties to the Memorandum of Understanding on the future of Jabiru and Kakadu (the MoU). You can find more information on the MoU here - https://www.jabirukabolkmakmen.com.au/node/30 . Jabiru Kabolkmakmen agreed to help coordinate access for these assessments so that residents have a single point of contact. The purp...ose of these assessments is to determine whether all requirements under current lease arrangements have been duly performed and will provide a report about the condition of all buildings, structures, infrastructure or other improvements on the lot. This condition report relates to the requirement of Sub-Lease Agreements between employing organisations and the JTDA. This does not relate to tenancy agreements that tenants will have in place with their employers. Residents will be provided further notification of the date for assessment for their residence from their Housing Managers and /or Jabiru Kabolkmakmen. To stay up to date regarding these assessments please keep an eye out in the West Arnhem Wire, the Jabiru Kabolkmakmen Facebook page and website and check your emails for direct notifications regarding your properties.

19.01.2022 Residential Remediation Assessments On behalf of the Director of National Parks and the JTDA, we would like to send out a huge thank you to residents of Jabiru for their patience, assistance and flexibility to allow us to undertake Remediation Assessments at their homes. We understand that this can be inconvenient to some, and Jabiru Kabolkmakmen is endeavouring to minimise disturbance and schedule appointment times to suit residents where available. ... Three fully qualified and competent teams of assessors from Jacobs Engineering and Agon Environmental are doing a fantastic job working long days and in very hot and humid conditions to undertake these assessments in accordance with industry standards. The assessors will be; - walking through your property, visually observing the external and internal areas, - taking photographs for the purpose of collecting a photographic record of the property Note: No pictures of people and personal affects will be taken, - opening manhole covers and ladder access to ceiling space, - opening cupboards under sinks and vanity units to observe drainage pipes, - accessing all rooms in your house, and - turning lights, fans and air conditioners on and off. Structural Assessment by Jacobs Engineering - Building particulars (height, roof type, ceiling type, general condition, damage etc), - general condition assessment of concrete slabs, footings, individual elements, connections and associated fittings, roof etc, and - Identifying any potential risks. - Electrical and Hydraulic assessments by Jacobs Engineering - Power supply, electrical switchboards, lighting and power points, - smoke detectors, - air-conditioning units and fans, and - water supply points, hot water systems and drainage. Environmental Agon Consultants will take sample jars of material from your garden using hand tools to identify possible termite existence. Samples will also be collected from any repaired, patched or perforated areas in bathroom/s and kitchen for possible asbestos, placed in a sealed envelope and sent to their laboratories for analysis.

14.01.2022 Congratulations The staff at Jabiru Kabolkmakmen congratulate Dr Murray Garde on his well deserved Order of Australia Award. On Australia Day Dr Murray Garde (Bulanj Nakardbam) was awarded an Order of Australia Award for helping Bininj people in West Arnhemland to protect and strengthen their heritage, by keeping culture, language and knowledge of country strong. ... The award also recognises how Murray has helped both Bininj and Balanda to understand each other and to learn about each others languages, cultures, values and ways of doing things. He has spent decades learning from Bininj people and living with them in the bush, becoming family to them in a way that very few Balanda have ever done. Murray is now project manager for the Bininj Kunwok Regional Language Centre and continues to support Bininj and Balanda as we work together, and as we enjoy and appreciate the incredible heritage - country, culture, language and people that we have in this region.

10.01.2022 ESSENTIAL SERVICES SEWER ASSESSMENTS GHD Engineering have been engaged by the Director of National Parks and the JTDA, to undertake inspection works on the sewer and access chamber systems in Jabiru. Initial inspections were carried out on the main lines and whilst any inconvenience is regretted, we do appreciate your understanding and patience while these works take place. ... The residential sewer lines will be inspected over 2-3 weeks starting the week commencing Monday 25th November 2019. It is advised that some properties will need to be accessed by Dig Hard Excavations (the Contractor) to undertake these inspection works. The inspection incudes: Accessing sewer easements on residential properties that have sewer chambers and/or manholes in the back yard. Flushing the sewer pipes to clear sand and silt build up to allow camera inspection During flushing there is a likelihood that air bubbles can travel up the pipes and out of toilet systems. This will result in the clean toilet water bubbling, or in some instances splashing. It is recommended that all residents CLOSE THE TOILET LID to prevent any splashbacks during this period, even if they do not access your property. You will be able to use your system as normal. What residents need to do: So that these works can be undertaken as efficiently as possible, we ask: Ensure the back of your property can be accessed. For the safety of the workers and your dog, please ensure your dog is restrained. Close your toilet lid. Pease contact Jabiru Kabolkmakmen If you have any queries regarding these works.
