24.01.2022 Seeing a lot of posts lately of typical multicell thunderstorms in Northern Australia being labeled "supercells". Supercells are rare in the tropics and unless one has observed a persistent rotating updraft region (mesocyclone) the chances are it's not. Supercells in the tropics often require a significant weather system near by such as a tropical cyclone or a tropical low to enhance wind shear and low level helicity in a high CAPE environment. The last time I saw a true supercell in the Top End was in 2015 when Severe TC Lam was sitting off the Arnhem Coast.

08.01.2022 I absolutely love my new Mavic 2 Pro! :) I'm in Katherine at the moment. I managed to snag a very nice sunset this evening at a special spot, a rugged mesa in dry savannah country. I couldn't have asked for better conditions. <3

05.01.2022 Baruwei lookout, Nitmiluk NP in the early morning light. Walked up the escarpment really early with a headlamp, camera gear and tripod in the dark.. The soft colours and diffused light of dawn made it well worth the effort. Next time I do this I want to do a wide panorama looking right up the gorge. Best viewed large on a good monitor. :)

03.01.2022 That magic twilight moment before dark really shows of some outback colours in the soft diffused light. This is the peak of the long dry season in the Katherine Region. It won't be long now until the skies are filled with dramatic light shows and the transformation to lush bright greens in a parched land. ... Mavic 2 Pro.
