17.01.2022 Love this so much ! . . I used to say to myself I needed to control the controllables. .... . And I used to wonder why things felt so much harder. Because again I was trying to control the outcome. . . This was rigid energy, inflexible energy that created frustration and never resulted in what I desired. . . Creating a different outcome allows our energy and mind to be open to an alternative. . . We always have a choice when we are consumed by worry we just can’t see it or feel it. . . We have a choice to shift, to choose a different outcome to create a different reality. . . So if you are feeling any resistance or rigidity ask yourself what am I trying to control ? Will this achieve my desired outcome ? What am I really worried about ? How bad is this situation really ? Is what I’m worried about really that bad or am I imagining a much worse situation. . . Upon reflection this day may or may not mean much to some of you but I thought I’d share a glimpse of my experience climbing the Corporate ladder to be a Chief Financial Officer. .... . To all the Men who said I couldn’t do it, to break through that glass ceiling, to all the men in Board Rooms who thought I was there to make them Coffee and did not treat me as their equal, to all the Men who made my experience harder by objectifying me as a woman, who looked at my chest when I was doing Financial presentations or simply trying to have a conversation, to the Men who commented on what I wore and made me feel uncomfortable, To the Men I stopped talking and actually told you my eyes are up here not in my breasts, to all the Men who thought it was Ok to pay me less money than my male counterparts, I’d like to say Thank You, Thank You for all the years you made it uncomfortable, you made it more challenging, you made me stronger than I thought I needed to be in the work place and you made me want to succeed more just to prove I could do it for me ! . . To all the Men who were supportive, encouraging, inclusive, who mentored me and allowed me to mentor them, who treated me with respect, who treated me with kindness, who allowed me to be seen and heard, who treated me as an equal contributor, I Thank You ! You helped me achieve what seemed impossible at times and I am truly grateful . .
