The National AFL Carnival (June 19-23) brings Australias best footballers with intellectual disability together for an incredibly dynamic competition; and for the first time ever it will be hosted in Tasmania. The lightning carnival will see each State and Territory play against each other at various grounds across Launceston. ... Participants will also join in social dinners with the local AFL community, and assist in running clinics in Northern Tasmanian special schools. The Carnival Grand Final match will be the curtain-raiser for the AFL Round 13 match; Hawthorn Vs Gold Coast Suns at UTAS Stadium on Saturday June 23rd. This will be not only thrilling for the athletes involved, but also a great promotion of sports and community inclusion in Tasmania.
